Well, I don't think I've ever gotten a +4 increased bow damage weapon. I'm not saying they don't exist, but I personally think that maxing skills is handy when they're particularly useful, as it will make the game easier during the time when you don't have magical armor. The only skills I definately wouldn't max are the meelee speed and the meelee defense/magic resistance. You're almost guarenteed to get +4 +4 armor for those two before the end.

 Actually, that's a good point. I think the final enchanted weapons for Rohane and Talinia both give only +2 to their damage skills. I hadn't thought of that.

What I think I'd skip is getting the Fourth Arrow, myself. I'm playing through on Insane now and I think I may eventually get myself Third Arrow, but I'm not sure I'm going to go for fourth. By the time your second multiple attack in a battle rolls around, at least one of the monsters is usually dead, anyway, and I'm not sure it's worth those 5 skill points for one extra hit.

Should I skip Hubrid?

It's up to you.... if you do pass him, you miss out on a couple "special" weapons. Generally it would go that if you think you can beat him, I would go ahead and try. If not, just skip him.

I am in the lakeside town, my question is... should I buy defense items or attack items (and for whom should I buy for)

Rohane
HP:
86/86
Weapon: notched iron shortsword
Level: 10
Armour: iron chain tunic

Mipsy
HP:
50/50
Weapon: sawdust wand
Level: 10
Armour: initiate's robe

How much gold do you have? If you're anything like as obsessive about levelling up and hoarding gold as me I'd go for buying the lot if you have enough. The only time I've not bought stuff is when my current weapons give decent extra skills.

What level would people advise me to attack Scuzzy on?

Someone reccommended 33 on iDNQ's "your questions" page but I've been levelling up for a long long time and I'm only on 28. If I set off directly to him now I could get in another level. Would level 29 be enough?

29 is enough. Most people attack him a few levels before that even, though it seems they have a harder time in the beginning of the Lost Desert then. 33 is definately overleved for normal mode.

I'm not nealy as expert as most of the people here. But I alwasy tended to just buy all of the weapon/armour upgrades. Even if i had to fight a few more monsters to do it.
Overall though armour for mipsy is more important because she's so much weaker. And weapons for rohan are more important because mipsy's weapons only affect her attack which you probably arn't using anyway (you're probably casting direct damage)

So if for some reason you have to skip, skip weapons for mipsy

Thanks for your help dog :) Off to Scuzzy I go...

Edit:

I beat him easily with potions :)

However I find myself completely and utterly lost now - I've just started Act 3 and have no idea where I am. Is the very start not mapped on the IDNQ?

If not could someone point me in the right direction please. Thanks :)

The Not-So-Newbie guide that was on the old forums is posted here:
http://venus.walagata.com/w/etcetera/nq2guide.html

That should help.

The start of Chapter 3 is mapped on IDNQ. The characters will tell you pretty clearly where to go, so does the Not-so-Newbie guide.

I originally had trouble with that too. Just keep moving left from the NPCs you met at the start of this act. Soon you will get out of the palace, and find yourself in Sakhmet city, which can be found on the maps on the IDNQ.

See the 6 tents below "Sakhmet Palace"? Some are lodging, some are potions, some are weapons, others are just wasting your time.

EDIT: now for my question...
Since Mipsy specialises in spells, does that mean that there is no need to upgrade her attack weapons?

Just started NeoQuest 2! :D I'm so sad, I started the first but never finished...I curse my slow connection. It takes about five minutes to walk from one end of the village to the other...*curses*

Any starting out tips?

That's right. Upgrading to a higher-attack non-enchanted wand is almost useless. (I almost because a lot of Chapter 3 bosses are almost totally resistant to her magical attacks and you might want to use regular attacks then... but I wouldn't spend the gold for an upgrade just for that. Wait until you get a decent enchanted weapon from a boss (it could be a while) and then use that until the end of the game or you get an even better enchanted wand.

Thanks for the help on the start of Act 3 - I curse my stupidity - I only had to walk out of the palace to find my way

*laughs* I feel your pain - I've gotten to act 3 on dialup. If I weren't so obsessed with completing this I would have given up a long long time ago :p

This is a good starter - Just be wary of following his skills advice to the letter - It's best to find what works for you :)

Ok, I'm level 48, and I just got out of the Happy Fun Non-Haunted House.

Should I try and go beat the Faeries now? (Note: I'm in Evil level if that makes any difference..)
