Well, I've lurked for a bit, and this seems like a nice place :)

My account on neo is morrisseyislove. I've actually been around for upwards of four years, but I quit about 8 or 9 months ago and just recently decided to come back and start over.

Oh, and I'm obsessed with the Smiths. obsessed.

I look forward to meeting all of you!

Haha, yeah, I was being Ms. State-the-Obvious. But a lot of people don't know who the Smiths are... so I thought maybe someone would benefit from me pointing it out? Don't mind me, I think weird :)

Welcome to the forum, I have no idea who the smiths are, I thought you were referring to the ones from the matrix at first but it didn't seem to add up.

Hi morrisseyislove, congratulations on de-lurking ;) .

The Smiths, I know who they are. I like them, however I haven't heard as much as I should have.

If you need anything feel free to PM me.

haha, okay.. and this is for anyone who's curious :)

The Smiths were a British indie rock band from the 80's. They made 4 full records (The Smiths, Meat is Murder, The Queen is Dead, Strangeways Here We Come) between 1984 and 87 (although they were together from 82 to 87). Today they are considered by many as one of the most influential bands of the eighties, as they helped British rock become less synthesizer-driven and more guitar-driven.

The group was comprised of four members: Morrissey (lyricist and lead singer), Johnny Marr (guitarist and core composer), Andy Rourke (bassist), and Mike Joyce (drummer). Morrissey was (and is - he's now a solo artist) a brilliant writer, and helped create some of the most intelligent, witty, and funny songs ever recorded. Marr was brilliant as well; a highly skilled guitarist with a good ear for pop melodies.

I love the Smiths for the same reason as many others. The lyrics, the music, and Morrissey's voice all resonate with me. They make me feel as though there's someone else out there who understands what it's like to be an outsider, what it's like to be miserable sometimes. Many people believe that the Smith's music is depressing.. I actually find it uplifting, like a good friend who's always there for you and understands (yep, sounds corny :) ). In the words of Morrissey himself: "It's really not that I'm a depressing person. It's simply that I'm not a bouncing moron." Plus, it's refreshing to hear something intelligent and thought-out.. unlike most music today.

If you'd like to know more about the Smiths, go to this site and do a search: All Music Guide

And that, my friends, is more or less the story of the Smiths (with a few opinions sprinkled it here and there 8) ). Somehow I think it's way more than you ever wanted to know. And if I got anything wrong feel free to correct me - I didn't exactly spend a great deal of time fact-checking this. Or spell/grammar checking either

Hiya morrisseyislove. Welcome to PPT!

I haven't never heard the Smiths and did not know they were until you told about the Smiths though I do love 80s music.
