What was the trick again to get the ball first? I forgot...

edit. I also got a nice background to customise my pet with! That's quite nice, I was wondering when we'd be getting new backgrounds. :)

The top white line of the triangle when it's previewing the Yooyuball marks the center of the arena, so if you click along that line you can grab the ball before the computer (assuming you're using 1+3 or 3+1). Also, if you hover your mouse around the top right corner of the triangle until the cursor changes, then you've got your center player selected and can start with him/her activated right off the bat.

And... a picture's worth a thousand words :P :

I cannot seem to find the page I read this on, but they've changed the way the game's being organized this year. Instead of being narrowed down to two teams, every team will play every other team twice over the course of this month ("double round-robin" play). I assume whichever team has the highest overall "score" (and who knows how TNT is calculating that) will be the winner.

Also, am I the only one who uses the 2 + 2 positioning? I find it a lot easier to work with for inexplicable reasons.

Does it really matter how many goals your score as long as you win? Or does goal points figure in with the overall score? I can't seem to score many goals during the practice games but I win everytime so I was just wondering.

To Officer: Oh. Thanks you then. Not that I know what double round-robin means, but thanks for explaining it to me, lol.

I think last year TNT said that even wins with low scores count, and even if you submit losses you get some points, though of course a 9-0 win will be worth a lot more.

The explanation of 'double-round-robin' is at the bottom of this page:
http://www.neopets.com/altador/colosseum/rules.phtml

This makes it fairer than playoffs, as we can be certain that the four teams to make it to the finals / semis are the four best teams against ALL other opponents, not just a random selection.

The team to win will be the one with the BEST players, not the MOST players. I predict that HW and DC will do less well this year because newbies to the game will see that they did well last year, assume they are 'good teams' and then pull down the average. Another way to look at it is to work out what type of person makes a good Yooyuball player, and then think what land they'd support. Personally, I think the reason three 'evil' (less kiddy) lands and one 'underdog' land got to the semis last year is because they were chosen by more adult players, who probably get higher Yooyuball scores on average than kids.

EDIT: Wow, the last four posters were all RI supporters. If PPT is supporting Roo Island, I have a good feeling about our chances. :D

Well. I do fine aslong as I don't get any funky "I'm gonna be a tool and curve at the last moment" balls.
Guess what I keep getting. >_<

Darigan FTW, by the way.#

Edit;
Did matches just get a whole lot longer for anyone else?

The game will be like a league and the top 2 teams that won the most would go to the final.

And I play the 2+2 formation aswel. And it seems you're a pro at this game too. 2+2 is the best because your opponent would use it aswel and helps a lot for defense aswel.

Oh crap! I just remembered that I left my car keys in the OTHER dimension...

Shenkuu for the win. I've always been in love with Japanese culture. BTW, I've finally created an account on the forums here, I've been putting it off for a while but since Altador cup is starting, I might as well make it now instead of just watching the forums with out my point of view for a couple more years.

My prediction is that Shenkuu and Roo Island will be the top teams.

Welcome to the forum Elysian! Anyway, I am waiting until tomorrow to choose, I will see which team the most PPTers choose (because PPTers seem to work a bit harder than the Neoboarders) and then join, that is how I chose Darigan last year.

I just picked my team and it looks like it will be a lot faster this year than last. Every day starting June 5th will be a new match. Oh, and neat, I got a Shenkuu background.

Some matches seem to be longer than others. Seems like another glitch, just like the insta-asplode Yooyu.
And I was looking at the souvenir shop, and the old items showed up again.

There are a lot of glitches, you could tell the neopets team were short timed to do this project and had rushed a bit. Just look at Shenkuu's team roster profiles, there are two fish guy icons :)

Btw wind, congratulations on have 1337 posts. you are now leet.

I think I'm slowly getting the hang of this. I've practiced for almost 2 hours now and finally got 6-0. That'll do.
I get so frustrated with the Darigan Yooyu, arh. It shoots backwards all the time and I really don't understand how I should handle it. It would be much appreciated if someone could enlighten me a bit :)

Go Shenkuu & its supporters!
