Which pets can wear the sinister clothes?

Mon May 21, 2007 11:58 am

I really wish they'd release mutant clothes, but I get the feeling that even if they do they'll be well.. ugly... bah.. mutant discrimination!

anyway... I doodled some clothes onto my pets, matching them up to their anthro designs, I like my Ruki's the best.

Yeah... Hopefully TNT will release stuff that can at least look vuagely right for these guys. T-shirts would be great for my Ogrin!
Poor unloved Mutants and Ogrins *sniffle*

Well there wasn't any clothing news today. I wonder if neopets will always announce that a clothing has become wearable, or if some days they may not announce it? I guess all we can do is keep trying them.

It's gonna take some time for more clothing to become available, smudge. There are over 40 different species of pets in Neopia, which means over 40 different templates for just ONE clothing item. There also has to be extras of each clothing item for pet colors that don't conform to to the basic shape of the pet, such as Baby or Maraquan. I don't know if they'll bother making clothes for older-style pet colors that didn't get converted into the new forms (Faerie Peophin or Darigan Blumaroo, for example), but if they did, that's going to be even more work.

Even back in my last post when I was talking about the shirts and how it might be the quickest thing to start with - I didn't mean it would actually BE quick. Just faster than trying to make, say, pants that fit every pet.

Add to the fact that TNT's working on a crapload of other things at the moment - the new plot, fixing (well, should be fixing) numerous glitches that have come out since the site revamp, getting previously announced items released, etc... basically that amounts to a good long wait for practically everything.

They'll all be announced, don't worry. :)

Personally, I can't wait to see some more hats active. My Hissi's been dying to wear the Twisted Roses Seasonal hat she got a couple years ago. XD And I'd love to be able to put that funky Colorful Bruce Scarf on my Mutant Bruce!

I also wonder if other things that aren't categorized as clothing now would eventually be made wearable as well, such as the backpacks in School Supplies, some of the bracelets and barettes in Grooming, and some BD items like Mystic White Cloak and Heavy Robe of Thievery.

Honestly? That doesn't make me feel any better. I think TNT should have delayed the release of the customize feature until they plenty of clothing ready to go, even if it means they didn't release it for 6 months.

I mean, Subeta didn't have any problem doing it and it's a much smaller site. Granted, they only had to do two versions of each item of clothing, but they also have a much, much smaller staff. I think they had, what, 800-1000 wearable clothes, accessories, and weapons when they released their clothing system? In my opinion there's really no excuse for Neopets to have released the system without a single wearable garmet, and to have only a handful of wearable items after several weeks.

What can I say? I'm very upset that not only did TNT screw over my pets for a feature I didn't want, it screwed them over for a feature that can't even be used by most people unless they have million of NP for PBs or are lucky with the lab... and I can't even target-zap for clothing colors at the moment because the pound is down. I don't think there's any excuse for releasing a system that in my opinion wasn't ready to be released yet.

Maybe I'm just projecting, but looking at some of the customs people have made, it looks like there's a pretty big demand for small simple items: earrings and bracelets, for example. It shouldn't take TNT too long to crank out hoop earrings to fit all 40 species of pets, assuming they actually knuckled down and did it.

Yea, bgryph I agree with you. No one rushed them to it, they chose the worst time to release the customization :/ I wasn't happy that my cute lil fire yurble got turned into a squashed version of yogi, I'm going to move him to a side once the pound opens back up.

And the release of customization has put the lab map prices shooting through the roof, I wouldn't be surprised if the maps cost as much as 900k next month :x

So....damn it, TNT!! WHYYYYY?

I hate to buy and find out that it won't work on my pet.

As an experiment I took all the clothes off my dessert grarrl and I want to take him to the lab ray. I can't find the ray with the new lay out. Thought it was in games??

How disappointing. I was hoping my Island Kyrii could wear those.

I agree, they certainly should have waited till they had at least a handful of outfits for EACH species. It's frustrating waiting for them to realease anything my ruki can wear, and my mutants really lose out. Why didn't they wait and release something that was finished rather than the shambles they have now? bah.. stupid stupid tnt

When Subeta started the dressable avatar, they allowed members to convert thier old avvies into random clothing items. I wish neopets would have done the same. Like if you choose to convert your pet, you get 2 random pieces of clothing that fit that pet. Then we could have chosen to keep the old pose, or get clothing. The change would have been much better accepted if they had.

Altho i don't like the new art, it would surely be the best they would do... i have no clothes other than that hat they gave in advent calendar and it's not exactly the kind of thing you would put in ANY pet, i mean it doesn't fit greatly, and they are better of without it...

Yeah, I do hope they give us a couple of normalish things for mutants. I'd like a wig and some glasses for JohnLennon! =P

There are many directories of painted pets, but now that painted pets can be clothed, that does change things a bit. It would be really neat if somebody had a page with screenies of every kind of painted pet, without any clothes on. That would give us a good look at the base appearance of each kind of pet. Of course, it would take somebody very dedicated to maintain a page like this. It would probably be lots of hard work.

Speaking of which, anybody have pictures of either a Desert Kougra, Pirate Kougra, or Christmas Kougra without clothing/accessories?

edit: I just noticed a positive change to the pets. The eye colours seem to be fixed. Previously, all Xweetoks had blue eyes. I had changed my red Xweetok to blue to stop her from looking silly. They've fixed that so each colour has the correct eye colour. Maybe they are listening to our feedback.

I've been busy. :D

Image Mikhail is painted red with clothes from Christmas and Island paint brushes.

Image Sriancha is painted Royal with a mix of Desert and Royal clothes.

*Goes to weep about depleted savings account.*
