That's one thing about Premium that kinda irks me with the new layout, the ads are gone, but so is the top part of my theme, which was very pretty.

TNT has yet again changed the page format, but not in a way that will break my last stylesheet change. However, it now allows for the use of this to eliminate the top part of the theme as well, without disabling links (which I the way it had previously been, before they started making changes to the new layout about a week ago).

And I've now put the Neofriend module back on, since the main reason I removed it was because the top part of the theme made the page larger (vertically).

Would anyone like me to post a list of all the things that can be individually disabled on all the pages? They include some pretty ridiculous stuff, but people may want to use some of them (disabling the Neofriend and Pet modules comes to mind).

I'm a complete moron when it comes to changing stylesheets. Is there someone that could provide a detailed step-by-step of how I can get rid of that black vertical ad box at the top and how to get the top links (username, neopoints, events) working again?

I'd be interested, at any rate. I've got the Neofriend module turned off now thanks to some advice from these threads but I'd still be interested to see what all my options are. :-)

And TNT has yet again changed the format of pages. Now there is currently no way to block the ads at the bottom of the page, aside from AdBlock.

Not sure about the links not working thing, but if you use IE then this should work for the ads:

First make a Notepad (.txt) file. Rename it ihateneopetsads.css or something and save it somewhere you will remember but not see it all the time such as on your C: drive proper. In it just copy and paste the following --

#ban_bottom{display:none !important;}

Go to Internet Options in your Control Panel or in any IE browser Tools menu and on the front tab find the Accessibility button. Click that and check "Format documents using my style sheet" then Browse to wherever you saved the .css file and click OK. Click OK again. Heh. Restart your browser and that should take care of the ads. For now .. dun dun dun!

(When in doubt, try adding that !important rule, that seems to work well.)

Would it be possible to create a complete list of CSS codes to block ads, etc., for both Firefox and IE? It would be great if we could have a "sticky" with this info, maybe permanently on the Help Forum. When I run a search for CSS, Firefox, and AdBlock, I get back so many hits that it's hard to find the info I need. Just a thought and request!

Just wondering if anyone knows how I can still view the entire theme 'sidebar' at the top of the screen without the ads. I use premium & the top of the page (like where the ads used to be) are cut off. When I looked at one of my kids accounts on IE after adding the .css it looked like mine. cut off.
Seems ok on Firefox, but I use Firefox & with Premium, it still doesn't show.

Does that make sense?

The CSS file that Neopets uses can be found here:
http://www.neopets.com/css/default.css

In it are all of the possible things you can remove. Find the area you wish to remove and add {display: none;} or {display:none !important;} after it in your external style sheet. It may take some playing around, but you should be able to remove almost anything you wish. (By the way, the following is for IE; I'm not sure what the codes are for FF.)

For instance, I wanted the rotating footer image removed so I added:

Navar57, if I understand you correctly, you wish to have the space where the top banner ads were meant to be, but without the ads? To enable the banner space, remove the following from your external style sheet:

#ban{display:none !important;}

(And remember to restart your browser for changes to take effect.)

EDIT: Re-reading you as I was still not fully awake when posting before. It is possible that since Premium is ad-free that that banner space might not exist by default. But I don't know since I don't have Premium. The "cut off" look is mainly because of the horizontal top and bottom "bars" now. I suppose we all just have to get used to it. Oh well.

I was supposed to get my Huggy avatar yesterday... been at my faerie lenny's lookup about a hundred times... and it's not happening.

GRR! Could this have something to do with the new layout?

I really, really wish TNT would have actually put SOME thought into the new layout before starting everything, and just waiting for all of us to find bugs...

I'm pretty sure they put thought into it and the bugs weren't wished for.
They will get around to the bugs and eventually the new layout will all set in, just be patient.

Anyway, have YOU had issue with the problem?

This is my main concern here, if anybody else has had this particular problem... if there's some magic CSS I can use that will make my avvie appear? :battar:

I'm having the same problem with my Harris. It's 103 days old, so I should've gotten the avatar by now. I reported the bug to TNT, although they do know about the problem already - at least three weeks ago they did. This is from the Neopian Times' editorial, issue 290 (about 2½ week ago):

After that, I heard many say they had gotten their avatars, but seemingly not everyone.

Perhaps you have gotten it, but not recieved the notice? That happens sometimes for me. Check your list of avatars to see if you have gotten it. =/
