I must say, neopets isn't the only one revamping. ABC news just revamped their site. It is kind of simular too, with these top links and things. At least their site doesn't stretch the page. >.<

What I don't understand is if the new resolution is becoming the norm now, why is Neopets the only site that requires side-scrolling? In the course of a week I visit at least 100 websites related to all sorts of topics and haven't run across this problem anywhere else.

I have 1024x768 and don't have side-scrolling at all. Are you sure there isn't a preference set somewhere that's messing it up?

Hmm, it took me this long to realize it (guess I am still too angry over the revamps to have noticed) but I use IE/Avant for my main account and the backgrounds on my pets are default black (which is really annoying me). On my side in Orca (Gecko rendering like Firefox) the pet's backgrounds are white. What's up with that? Is it the page coding or my browsers? o_O

This is what I have been wondering. At work I have 1024x768 display on a 15 inch monitor, at home I have a 1280x800 display on a 13 inch widescreen laptop. Neither of them require scrolling. I'm using firefox as my browser, maybe that has something to do with it?

I'm also one of the lucky few who doesn't have to side scroll. I even have extra space on either side of the page. I have a 1280x800 resolution, like Starry.

So, I don't know if anyone else noticed, but we finally got a link to the stock market on the first page today. I take full credit for it. :D I am quite happy.

Awesome; but I'm sure there were lots of others doing it too, so thanks to everyone who sent in something requesting it. :)

[edit-bump] I just realized - and I can't believe I didn't see anyone mention it before - but remember these?

Where'd they go? :( I'm feeling very sad for the loss of the barely-readable random humor in the backgrounds of the banners...

They got rid of the headers? :(

*sigh* I'm still frustrated they still haven't fixed Pyramids... it's completely unplayable in Firefox due to this dang layout :(

I had firefox block those - so I really don't miss them. I'm really beginning to like the new layout - I just wish they'd get rid of the fist pets.

Yes, I did. A big 2-page letter, and a couple of editorials (although I must admit one was under a side account I haven't used in years. It was rather pointed)

GOOD! I hope more people do that, I sent them a letter too.

I doubt it will do any good, but I can't help but try. There's a fighter in me that just can't help wanting us all to give TNT a piece of our minds!

Awww, I miss those headers too! I never noticed that one said borkbork till just now. Those were just so.... neopets-y. *sigh*

If anyone's curious, here's the new birthday theme:

Top bar: http://images.neopets.com/themes/004_bi ... der_bg.png
Bottom bar: http://images.neopets.com/themes/004_bi ... ter_bg.png

Rotations on bottom:
Big slice of cake
Light faerie playing trumpet/horn
Earth faerie eating cake
Usul with lollipop
Lutari with pearl
Ogrin with balloons
Baby Ruki eating cake

And yay, they turned the menus into buttons! Don't need to aim for the little links anymore.

You know, now that I've thought it over, I've realised where most of my anger has come from about these changes.

There's disappointment for the look of the 'new' site, and disdain over the parts that do not work, but the main part of the anger?

We were not told about this in any way, shape or form. No polls, no beta, no user feedback on said beta, no choices, no comments being listened to, no communication.

Neopets has been like that for years now, and I had been wandering away from it (apart from dailies and the random piece of art). But I remember the days when Borovan would come and joke with us and listen to what we had to say. We picked up glitches before they had a chance to turn the site into a catastrophe.

The lack of communication could be Neopets nails in the coffin. Every business needs to listen to their clients, whether they pay or not. But it's like all e-mails go into a pile and every 100th or so gets an automated response.

I don't really have an opinion on the new layout. The old one was ok, this one was ok. I have gotten used to it (Mostly) My only complaint is that people can see you online. I really don't like this new addition and think it should be able to be switched off

^ Yes, they should make an option to hide when you're on.

I also don't like it constantly telling me I'm lonely just because I don't feel the need to fill up my neofriends with a bunch of random people, so usually none of my few neofriends are online. :P
