on another note. . .this change is HUGE. I've been playing neopets for seven years now and this has got to be the biggest change ever. . .

In a good way or bad way?

I really don't mind it so much right now. I don't play as much as I used to. . .so maybe it doesn't affect me as much. . . we'll see how this goes!

edit: they did say it will take getting used to - so we shouldn't just take this at face value right now. We really should give some time. .

Okay, also as a mod...

Guys? It's not okay to say that people feeling hurt or bothered by this change are acting "silly", are acting "childish" or what have you. Thats belittling peoples feelings and thats not very nice. Please respect others on the forum and realise that some people do take the game quite seriously. It is of course, healthy, to remember that it is a game, but at the same time, games are meant to be fun, and things that change rapidly and without warning, or things that change the style in which games are played after years of getting used to a different way can be hard.

So everyone please just have lots of respect for everyone on this thread. There are a lot of differing views and for the most part I think everyone is trying to acknowledge that. But still, just be a bit careful in what you post please.

The site itself I'm gonna hold off on final judgement till this promised monday thing hinted in the news. But I"ve never Liked boxes every where web sites. And I'm so thankful my mouse has side scroll. Aside from the redraws being the redraws I don't like how my pets pics are now so much smaller.

I can understand people being upset about the staff becoming impersonal. When I joined neopets about 21 months ago, I had heard that from others. I haven't experienced the "Personal" neopets, but I have experienced the impersonal and often nonsensical reponses from imputs I have made. So, that's too bad. It's unfortunate that so many companies are that way. But, that still doesn't have to do with the new layout. Even if they asked the users their opinions, would it really have made a difference? There are just so many now. It would be interesting if they put various draws up of of one pet, like four of them, and do one of their polls to see which is the most popular. They should do that.

It may not be Monday, though. They said "early on next week." That doesn't necessarily mean Monday. I'm interested to see what it is they are going to do. I don't mind the change. I'm pretty adaptable.

First off anyone who is complaining that they must now scroll the page. That is because of the resolution you have chosen to use on your computer. Please be aware that you are using beyond the recommended at the 'normal' resolution. This is NOT neo's fault they are going with the majority of peoples screen resolution. I personally have been looking at a clump of white on the right of my screen for a long time at Neo. So please realize the scrolling is because of a choice YOU have made not because of neo's choice.

Hey now, wait. Remember that some of us have HIGHER resolutions than that and still get a horizontal scroll because we have Bookmarks or Favorites open on the side of the screen. That is how I prefer to navigate. Having said that, a lot of my neo aspirations and goals have been thwarted. I was aiming toward side some accounts with theme pets that will no longer even look nice together. I was rebuilding my NeoHome and now I don't even care anymore. I feel like the one stress-reliever of my life is now a source of additional stress. Can't I sue them for that alone? lol

The darn site is so dang ugly now I really hate looking at it! I think that is actually a very big deal, after all every page looks so similar there is very little change of scenery anymore. I agree about the boxes. They are driving me mad. I am afraid to zap now in fear of getting some butt-ugly pet that was worse than any worse fear I had "before" and yes why hasn't anyone started a petition yet? :P

Yeah. Like I said, I could deal with the layout change...but my PETS *gasps*. I can hold out until next week to see what happens, and go from there. I forsee a cancelling of premium, at the very least. And me not playing all weekend.

I think boycotting the site this weekend would have a much greater effect than a petition.

I can't make my resolution any bigger than it already is. Maybe because my computer or monitor is old. So I am stuck with the scrolling. And hey, I think if I went up in size, I'd need a magnifiying glass to see the screen. At least I don't have to scroll while on the portal.

Lots of people on premium chats are quitting. At least that's what they say. A boycott is a good idea. Like the Day of Action? Anyone here remember that one?

The difference is that you could still USE Neopets at a higher resolution. With the current design, people in lower resolutions are EXTREMELY disadvantaged because a good third of the page isn't visible at all times. And if Neopets wanted to make it for the current most-used res, they could've EASILY created one for a bigger resolution as well.

You know also with the site using mostly modules now that they may make an option of how you can see the site, wich screen resolution to use. Prehaps people who have this problem should make that suggestion?

Second anyone who is disowning there pet because they are now ugly. Or canceling there paid account stop being silly! Neo even stated in the news that they are going to have some kind of choices they even admit they don't like the look of the new pets.... my theory on that is that they are going to offer both ways of looking at the pets. (like how when in beta you could set your pet to customization or not) So Geeze don't be silly!

Okay now on to other things I have noticed and i personally think should be changed or at least

- I think the old yellow nav 'scroll' needs to go on any page it is still left on.

- World map and any other type map should now fit into the entire viewable white area no reason for it not to. There should also be no text above maps obviously we can see it's a map

- Since everything is now divided into modules I would like to see the left sidebar customizable. If it is divided as other sites this should easily be an option.

- Also the old sidebars had pictures that continued on down the side.... I would like to see that returned seems stupid for it to be gray behind my left modules

- A 'homepage' should be made able too. Again everything is in modules this should be a decently simple process.

- Speaking of the modules I think the design would be much nicer if everything wasn't trapped in a dang box. We don't need the lines around the boxes

- modules should also be the same size left and right or full boxes that go the size of the page so if/when we can customize our pages it will be a bit easier.

Mostly however i see this makeover as good. Everyone who is thinking they did this because its big market and 'for the kids' look at any other site today YES they are the same. WHY? Because coding has changed people computers have changed they did this change to 'get with the times' not 'get with the kids'

Yes this layout will seem strange for awhile But basically everything is still there and realize that the new layout is technically in BETA so if you have a comment about how it looks let neo know. Personally I know Neostaffers read the boards here and on neo so I'm just putting my thoughts here. But overall remember times change would you seriously like it if nothing on neo ever changed? Would you really want the 'Original' pets? I doubt that so remember change happens don't reject everything because its new. Note what you do like about it and tell them also tell what you don't like. I'll admit I didn't read every page of these threads but i really am seeing a lot of people with the simple 'Eww i don't like it!' give it a chance browse the site and tell what you think to tnt or post it on the boards where it will be seen.

But anyhow for now those are my pennies

If I change my screen resolution, my family will be mad. I don't care if it is popular!
This isn't a place where you go into specifics of stupid minor things like "modules" or... well thats basically all you mentioned! Also, the kids ARE the times. Whatever kids are into is part of the times! Don't mess with people who miss the sweet, caring Neopets, which is now an evil corporation!!!

I gtg. I'll check your rebuttle in the morning...

...what's the problem with discussing specifics? It's perfectly alright to talk about everything about the change.

1024x768 is quite exceptable for an 18 inch monitor - which mine is, but I have My Favorites anchored to the left hand side for easy navigation to sites.

Why can't the pages automatically resize to your screen setting?

I don't know the tech. side of it, but when I have My Favourites anchored, every other site will automatically adjust to the reduced size.

There should be a link to your guild - how do you easy get to the guild without a link or going to your lookup?
