I totally missed the WoW reference. I'm wondering why in other languages it's different, though. What is being prepared, anyway?
I've got the suspicion that our news poster played too much WoW and didn't have time to post actual content, like new fun images or neogreetings. Pfft. Neopets staff those days.

If a war breaks out, I will fight for the sanity of Neopia, of Feepits. Against the evil Meepits. They will NOT succeed in doing what Dr. Sloth failed to do...

No, not you. Just anyone who happens to like World of Warcraft. Which includes a lot of neopets players and staff. You're hardly being left in the dark. It's a British tradition to include silly pop culture references in things. It makes people laugh and relates to them. It's hardly being used to buy their attention, as I don't see how it could. Although I remember when Adam started calling himself #6 I was well impressed. But that's just me. I'm a British Sci-fi finatic. It wouldn't have changed a thing had he not made that wee reference. And I say wee because I doubt there are that many people old enough (or mad enough) to understand it. Yet did it change anything?

Also the fuss you're making over people wastig their time on World of Warcraft is hypocritical to say the least. Neopets is equally useless in terms of it's perpose and gameplay. We are hardly doing anything better in playing this game or another. I don't believe either games improve our brains, and I doubt anyone would see this as a reason to play. We play for "fun", and what's fun to one person is diferent to another.

And Neopets has plenty original content. It's not a crime to come up with some of it based on known mythology either. Take any science fiction or fantasy writer. They're not unoriginal for including a few banshees or a dragon, or even a reference to King Arthur are they? They're just using what's already there to connect with their audience. If you miss the connection, the story isn't affected and life goes on.

Yeah, I think the customization feature is as big a waste of time as anyone, but that was funny. Personally, I'm with whoever says they're still working on customization and just didn't do/aren't doing the news for a while. It'd be nice if there were something else to it, but I seriously doubt it.

For the Horde!

The news states that "you are not prepared." How does one get prepared?

Thu Apr 26, 2007 3:07 pm

You aren't and cannot ever be prepared for what's coming, if you take it in the context of WoW.

Thu Apr 26, 2007 3:11 pm

You don't get prepared. The meepit will paint flowers first and ask questions later.

I'm not sure if this has been said or not.. but has anyone checked the link for the picture?

Giant meepit of peace, not doom. Silly TNT, all meepits are evil.

Er. Last time I checked, Neopets is an MMORPG. What did you think Neopets was categorized as?

I'm almost expeting him to be a new DoN challenger, immensely powerful, hence the not prepared bit.

I interviewed a Neopets VP a few years ago and he was pretty darn adamant that I not call Neopets a game. Maybe it's a social web site?

Virtual, kudos for hitting the nail right on the head. I am totally addicted to Neopets. My daughter who used to be quite the Neopetter is now a WOW junkie. And somehow, we both manage to co-exist in the same house. lol. As I always say different strokes for different folks.

Maybe that's what they spent all day doing? Coding in their big new surprise to launch? I'd rather they take a day to set it up, without any distractions, than force them to multitask just to fill up the New Features page.
