yvonne_l_d wrote:Secondly, I posted about this once, a year or so ago, I'd love to see some kind of earth/leafy paint brush. It shouldn't be something stupid, though, like clods of dirt with leaves stuck on. There is the potential for vegetation based redraw colours to be very beautiful. The coulours would have to be limited to green. Plants can be purple and red and all kinds of colours.

I agree, a botanical pet could be made to look very awesome. :)

Robot and Random - I know, that's what the lab ray is for. I said robot, because I want the ability to create my pet with the intention of painting it as a specific species.
Random is just a thing for people that don't want to mess with a pet's stats, just their color.

I agree a robot brush would be cool and it would let Krawk owners have a robopet too.

Random might be cooler as something like the lab ray. I can see getting a map and going to this crazed artist who splatters your pet into a different colour. Oooh and it could fade/wash out after a week or so.

Yeah, I would be annoyed with an anthro brush of anysort. Even an anime one.

*cough* Royal *cough*
Anime doesn't necessarily mean anthro. You see plenty of animals in anime...I was talking about the proportions of anime, the big eyes and small noses and whatnot. That's actually less realistic, and therefore less anthro, because it doesn't even look like real humans.

Sometimes royal pets really bother me because I'm like..AH! Lupe's and Aisha's (and whichever else) don't stand! Why are they standing?! But for most part they are done really well, so I just ignore what I don't like.

Image
The Kyrii is very nice, because they stand naturally.

This is just not right on so many levels.

I guess I had a hard time communicating my ideas. :P I'll split it up.

1. Anthro brush, as in any more humanoid than what they have now (royal characters, etc) especially in the FACE . . . no way, dude. I suppose if the face looks very much like the character, I could accept it.

2. Anime brush, as in, anime-style quad drawing. Perhaps it's just personal preference, but I think that would look incredibly stupid and it doesn't flow with the site at ALL. Neopets =\= anime. Different thing. And I think anime art is mostly ugly. I know that's just personal and I can't push it on everyone else, but just sayin'. ;)

3. Anime/Anthro brush, as in, anthro characters in anime style. Gag me now. That's as far as you can get for what Neo's about without just having little pet people with oversized eyes that a four-year-old could draw. It would really tear away from what makes the pets on this particular site unique.

Sorry, that's all very harsh, but . . . all in all I don't think any of those suit the site.

Anthro characters that follow the style of characters in plots and such, that's one thing . . . or the Royal pets which . . . I don't think the anthro ones are very well-drawn . . . that's all good. I'm concerned about anthro in the FACE, if that makes sense.

I pretty much agree with all of this.

And I don't care if it's standing and kinda badly drawn, if they released this tomorrow, I'd paint my aisha it in a heartbeat, I just want ninja that bad. It makes me all a flutter.

Out of all the ideas so far, I think the hedge and stone Neopets have the most potential to be interesting.

Sick or injured hedge Neopets could have pieces missing and/or lose a lot of their leaves (so just sticks were showing) and/or have their leaves turn brown and shrivel up. In the battledome, Hedge pets could throw leaves in their ranged attack pose, and have leaves scatter when they got hit.

Ill Stone ones could be either cracked or just a pile of rubble. Heck, there could be spackle in the cracks instead of bandages :P And they could be plain ol' carved out gray stone, like the old color was...or it could be swirled marble, layered sandstone, possibly even a faceted gemstone (though that might be too similar to Ice).

There's just so much to play with in both of those ideas. I can see why Glass got retired since they came out with an Ice color that's essentially the same thing, but Stone really should have stayed. *shrug* I guess you could say Clay is an equivalent, but they haven't really made it interesting. Maybe if it was pottery, glazed pottery/porcelain as someone else suggested, it would be better.

As for whoever suggested 'hillbilly' as a color, I don't know whether to be offended or amused by that. :P I have to admit though, when I first heard of Bogshot Village, I kinda imagined this swamp with shacks in it, with ahh, rustic old Neopets living there. ("C'mon in heah, young'in! Sit a spell! Hep yo'self to some Graka Bug cassa-role!")

Splatter brush, that might be cool, or watercolor or something.

Sat Apr 21, 2007 12:12 pm

I voted for hillbilly. I live around enough of them to be amused.

But I looove the idea for topiary/botanical pets. These sound like they have the potential to be really cute.

Paint-splattered pets also sound good. Jackson Pollock style. :)

There used to be a Stone PB but it was retired years ago.

Sat Apr 21, 2007 2:42 pm

I vote for D&D... but I suppose you could do that now with the wearable clothes... *shrug* Botanical pets sound cool, but not just bushes/trees/shrubs... some should be fungi/mushrooms (Kiko might work) or vines (erm, Hissi? That's a stretch...)

How about one that looks like a 3D wireframe? Or a frankenbrush- random parts from random (existing) PB colors, like your pet could get robot arms, a plushie head, the ghost 'glow' and fearie wings, etc.

There's a lot of possibilities besides bushes. The animals could be part earth part plant. The wings of a Pteri could be large leaves, for example. Hissi's could be sort of like woody vines with leaves coming out for their head crests. A Jubjub could be based on a completely round flower, like some peonies are. As you mentioned, fungi/mushrooms would work. The possibilites are endless.

I'd like to see a grundo that was a root, like this:
Image
The body could be kind of root colored, with root hairs on it. Then the toes and antennae could looks like more curled roots coming off of the main body of the root.

A mutant Yurble should be troll-like, sort of like this, only with the yurble horn things.

I for one want more Ogrin paint colours.

Topiary sounds amusing, earth and water are a MUST! and the space idea could be cool.
