Wow, I can't believe they are finally doing this. Looks like they are finally moving in the right direction. The clothes have always driven me nuts.

I'm kind of mixed about this. I like the idea of adding one or two pieces, but completely dressing them up does seem to detract from the paintbrushes.

So far they don't show up in the lookup, but I've dressed my spotted yurble as a pirate. The dressed pets show up very tiny on the quickref page, and take longer to display. There's no circle around them, either.

I've been messing around with it. It's kinda neat. I'll probably just add earrings and bracelets to all my pets though lol.

I am very excited about this. Probably more excited than I have been about much of anything on the site. Well, I might finally be able to customize my pet's look. I've been buying some clothings now. But I wonder if the cloths I am buying will actually be useable. It could be that new clothings are unlocked, much like avatars, and that the clothings we buy in the stores will never have a use. I don't know, there are so many clothes that I wonder if they will actually go and draw all of them and have them work for every pet. It sounds like a lot of work, but I don't know, maybe they've been working on this a while already. We don't know how long they've been working on this. Oh well, if I've wasted my time buying clothing that will never work, then at least I might finally get the packrat avatar. I can probably resale the clothing if I have to, or start a clothing gallery!

Of course, this might only ever be a premium thing. The general public may never be able to customize their pets. I mean, Premium people ARE paying for something, they should get something that the rest of us don't get.
That is kind of disappointing, but I understand if they only keep it Premium.

I just really hope that clothings are not "unlocked" or "won in games or contests" or whatever. I hope that clothings are the ones we are buying. But I could understand if they don't want to have ever clothing have a use, but only release new clothings that could be won or unlocked somehow. It would be easier to do it that way. But I've been buying clothing hoping I'll be able to use it, or at least someone will, and the prices may go up.

The jetsam only gets bits & pieces of other paint colors:

What you're missing out on in this screen shot is that the jetsam's teeth flash back and forth between the fangs and big sharp serrated teeth. It's just a wee bit animated, which is pretty funny. Once your pet is "customizable" it looks smaller on your quick-ref page and a little different, for instance to select it as your active pet, there's a radio button instead of clicking on the pet pic.

And the gnorbu is about the same.

My Lenny doesn't seem to have any dress-up bits at all. :(

This may be the single most exciting change that I've ever seen on Neopets.

The only thing is that I hope that this will not mean getting rid of royal pets. Money's not the issue - I just really love the art for my royal boy kyrii and would be mortified if the graphics changed.

But otherwise I LOVE this idea. :D

It'll probably be in beta for quite a while, however, seeing as they'll need to draw so many new things and redraw so many pets...

If this really works like it should, it will make up for so much. Maybe after they finish this, they will work on neoschools? I think they should.

Still, I wonder if I should be buying clothings from the clothing store or just waiting to see. Part of me wants to get the clothings now, before the prices inflate greatly, but part of me thinks these clothings are still not going to have a use, because they have to release species spacific clothings for this to even work. Not every clothing is going to look good on every pet, and to have every clothing work for every pet would be nearly impossible, with the amount of work they'd need to do. So I figure they won't ever have these clothing store clothings be useable, but they will release new clothings that you can use.

Perhaps this will be part of the neopets "shop" for pay items and possibly clothes. Hey, it's just another way of them to make money... If people buy, maybe they can hire better programmers. :P

I was thinking this too. Neopets did say there would be a type of shop thing.

I can't wait to see what they would do.

I'd love to buy a cute little pair of angel wings or something for my baby pet. And I still want a jester outfit for my darigan krawk. I'd make him a kind of mischeivious jester I think, if I could.

Would anyone with premium and a Christmas Ogrin, Island Cybunny, or any similar pet please confirm if the "baubles," "flowers," etc. in such pets' manes are removable? I'd love to know if I could take those out.

Mutant Cybunnys would be nice if they had some kind of bone jewellery.

That's pretty cool, even for me - I don't much use clothing, but this is neat stuff (and will increase the value of clothes, making them more profitable to restock).

Actually - I have yet to see any clothing that is not part of another paint brush set yet, so maybe clothing from uni's clothing boutique isn't going to be all that useful in any case.

Some of these pets are labbed right? That would be awesome to have all the different stuff I could put on my two and a half year old lab pet.

Kess-
It's just in testing now, so they just want to be sure this works before they start messing with clothing.
