Round 77
SSBB = Super Smash Brothers Brawl
To all of those interested in joining, there are no sign ups. You can just start playing right off the bat. If you need additional help, I am here most of the time and more than willing to try to help as much as possible.
Story as of now:
Aerith
- Because-I-am-tired-of-Yuna-Yuna-Yuna! pic from
Picture Shrines
Surfing Zero-chu washes over Liu and Ryu for -3 damage each. The Metroid drains Kyle for -3 damage. The Heartless glomp Cloud, Yuna, Geno, and Lisha for -1 damage each. The Like-Like pancakes Sheik for -1 damage. Yuna swats the Heartless away as she confronts Reno.
Yuna: Why didn’t you let Auron free? He didn’t do anything wrong.
Reno: Sorry. His name came up on a terrorist watchlist as a possible member of the Returners.
Yuna: He is not a Returner! He is my guardian. Tina is more of a Returner than he is!
Tina: Actually, I am a Returner.
Yuna: See!
Reno: Right. And next you’ll be saying Cloud and the lovely Aerith are members of AVALANCHE, or that Kite is a dothacker.
Cloud is about to speak, but Aerith stops him. Kite steps over.
Kite: I am a dothacker.
Reno: Keep telling yourself that kid.
Kite scowls and aims his wrist.
Kite: Data Drain!
The beam misses Reno and hits his chocobo. The bird is turned into a chicobo. The chicobo kwehs and runs off.
Reno: Hey! That was my bird!
Kite: Uh oh.
Reno draws his sword and starts chasing Kite.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Sephiroth is standing next to Black Mage.
Narrator: Seph knows destruction.
Sephiroth is then next to Hojo.
Narrator: Seph knows genetics.
Sephiroth is then next to Gilgamish.
Narrator: Seph knows swords.
Sephiroth is last next to Peter Griffin.
Narrator: But Seph doesn’t know MacFarlane.
Peter then produces flatus.
Peter: Sorry.
Laughs.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Snake and Sam are standing against a blank screen. They are sitting with a counselor
Snake: I’m a Mac.
Sam: And I’m a PC.
Pause. And I feel inadequate.
Counselor: Okay.
Sam: I keep getting shot. I keep coming close to breaking the Constitution...
Snake: I don’t see why you are being so hard on yourself. I don’t get it.
Counselor: Mac, why don’t you say something positive about PC?
Snake: Okay. Easy! PC, you are a wizard against terrorists, and you have some awesome gear.
Counselor: PC?
Sam: Mac, well, I guess you are better at the anti-proliferation stuff.
Snake: Thank you.
Sam: Even though you make real soldiers like me seem like jerks.
Counselor: Maybe you should come in twice a week.

[Billboard: The poster features Joanna Dark with her back to the viewer. She is looking over her shoulder and can be seen eating a slice of pizza. The caption reads: ‘Aliens invasions wiped out in thirty minutes or your pizza is free.’ The Carrington Institute logo is at the bottom corner.]
-----------------------------------------------------------
Vaan is sitting at a desk doing paper work. Cúchulainn bursts in.
Cúchulainn: Balthier! Where’s that package!
Cúchulainn ingests Vaan.
Vaan: I’m not Balthier!
Cúchulainn: He should have used...
Narrator: Ivalice Express!
The shot changes to one of a Bangaa with a package running through a battle.
Narrator: When other package delivery companies are not brave or foolhardy enough, we get the job done.
The Bangaa delivers the package to Balthier. As soon as Balthier turns away, the Bangaa is snatched by a Zu. Inside, Balthier is meeting with Cúchulainn.
Balthier: Here’s that package, Mr Cúchulainn.
Cúchulainn: Thank you, Balthier. You have a future here.
Cúchulainn ingests Balthier.
Balthier: Thank you sir!
A close up of the Ivalice Express logo.
Narrator: Ivalice Express. Our crew is expendable. Your package is not.
The shot pulls out to reveal the Bangaa in the Zu’s claws. The Zu does a loud squawk.
-----------------------------------------------------------
In the green room. Everyone, except the still arm wrestling Samanosuke and Kratos, has just watched the Ivalice Express commercial.
Katt: Are there really giant birds like that?
Everyone looks at Pit.
Pit: What!
0500/1700 Rule: Regardless of when the last update occurred, you may make actions
after 5AM/PM your time zone. There is no need to wait for an update to make an action, but it is recommended. Any actions that break this rule will not count as a legal action and will be promptly (eventually) pointed out. If you miss one of the posting periods, you will not get an extra move. I will allow posts +5 minutes in so you don’t have to rush your action.

Specials follow the same format where appropriate.
Specials and weapons should be used before regular attacks can be used.
Special users can defeat one 1 or 2 HP NPC of their choice in addition to their special use (meaning without targeting the NPC with the special).
Super Smash Attacks (SSA): SSA actions are powerful, character-specific moves with special effects. They can only be activated two ways and usually involve the character being removed from the game (see below) for a short time. The SSA use counter does not reset until all characters have used their SSA. To activate: either use a Smash Emblem or buy it with some points. Characters that still have an available SSA are marked with the Yen symbol (¥)
Removed from the Game (RFG): Unlike in Magic: The Gathering, this is not a permanent effect. Characters removed from the game cannot attack or heal but cannot be targeted. They return to play after a set amount of rounds. At least three characters will remain in play at all times.
Special Character - Gogo: Due to Gogo’s unique nature, I will post his information every round. If there are any questions, PM me, and I will willingly help.
Gogo cannot attack or heal. He is active every round. He has only one special which he uses every round.
Special: Mime: *Gogo copies the last action done (the post above this use). *Gogo’s user may choose new targets. *If a special was used, Gogo receives -3 damage in addition to the special’s effects. *Cannot mime SSAs or actions in the GM’s posts. *Cannot be the first action of the round. *If Gogo is not used, he automatically heals for +1 HP each round, but he starts with 30 HP at the beginning of the game. *He counts as male for gender related contests.
Sample use:
Code:
[b]Gogo mimes [Last Character Used] and [Copies the last action as player sees fit][/b]
Starting/Maximum HP = 50 Factions: (** = Active Ability)
Castlevania: +30 - Vampire Slayer - Characters can automatically defeat two NPCs with 1, 2, or 3 HP or defeat one 4 or 5 HP NPC in addition any other actions this round
Deep Space 9ers: +50 - Reflective Shields - All attacks directed at the members are reflected back to the attackers. Members can still attack
Dream Land: +20 - Skill Copy - Members may use any special belonging to any [Faction] member. (Check character guide or with the GM for specials)
Hyrule: +90 points - Magic Sack - Members may use any weapon unlimited times (weapon changes user after each use unless user can do unlimited attacks) (Check item guide or with the GM for items)
Independent: +0 - None (duh, they have no team)
Defeated - Kongo Jungle: +20 - Monkey Friends - When a member is attacked, the attacker receives a -1 damage counterattack for every -2 damage dealt to member (counterattack is rounded down)
Mushroom Kingdom: +40 - Mega Mushroom - All members deal double damage for the rest of the round, but cannot use weapons. Negative side effects are doubled for members
Pokémon: +50 - Pokeball - A random, unused Pokeball is activated. Members are immune to the effects
Sephiroth: +60 - Summon Sephiroth - Either: a Guard Armor or Dark Trooper appear; or Sephiroth appears for the round and deals up to -20 damage distributed among the remaining characters.
Sonic: +60 - Hyper Sonic Speed - Members cannot be attacked for the rest of the round. Members may still attack.
Square Enix: +160 points - Job Change - Members may use any Dressphere that is currently not being used (Check Dressphere guide or with the GM for Dresspheres). Counts as a weapon action
Versus: +70 - Versus: Adrenaline Rush - Members may make unlimited actions. Special users may use their special twice (any given player may only use the special once)

Game Site:Overall, found here.Preview movies, found here.Round 77 Announcements:1:
Both Brackets are Active!2: I hope you are liking the commercial parodies. They are really fun to write. If you have suggestions, feel free to PM me.
3: The new, month-long ‘mini’-game is essentially done being written. I have posted its information at the bottom of the page. It is just something big to occupy time since I have Spring Break coming up soon and will have to drop the quality/detail of the plots.
4: Early update since I have to be through security at 5 PM and in the air by 5:30 PM
5:
Important Request: To those of you with time and iTunes, I urge you to download and watch
Richard Engel’s War Zone Diary from MSNBC. It is insanely powerful. Whether you support the war or not, whether your country is in the war or not, whether you have heard of the war or not, you should try to see this special. If you are squeamish of gore, then some of the images may be upsetting. I apologize to the troops and their comments at the end, but I don’t support how the conflict is being run. I do think that the troops, reporters and civilians that are in Iraq are beyond the bravest people in the world and deserve our respect. This special reaffirms their bravery and sacrifice even if you never thought that before.
6: Mime Shadow. Mime Shadow. Mime Shadow. Mime Shadow. :D
7: Simple ones for this next two weekends. Just a good pic is needed.
8: Gettin’ the Geomancer so that Sunday will be full of craziness. ... And because Master Hand is coming Wednesday, and I wanted to use a Stage.
9: Ever notice that most of the FF hero groups are rebels of some sort?
10: There won’t be as many NPCs for the next week (not that you are fighting them or anything) since I won’t have my baggie with all of their names inside for random targeting.
11:
Both Brackets are Active!12:
Late breaking, important edit: For the Pokeball, you cannot choose: 10 or 30 since they require dice that I do not have at this moment.
This Round's Weapons:Pokeball: 1) Character. 2) Number. 3) Pic of the character.
This Round's Dressphere - Square Enix use only!:Geomancer - Control Earth: User takes -2 damage. One random, unused Stage is activated next round regardless of day of the week
This Round's Specials:Gogo - Mime: See above
1) Squall: Lionheart: -10 damage to one character. Target cannot attack or heal for the rest of the round. Can target special users. Squall cannot attack or heal for the next two next rounds

3) Kirby: Hammer: -4 damage to one character or -2 to two characters
4) Shadow: Super Shadow: Choose one: -8 damage to one character and -3 damage to Shadow, or -3 damage to three characters and Shadow
SSA: None
This Round's Stage:None
This Round's Mini-game: Referral ServicesOnce again, I ask to count the number of references that have been made. But wait! It isn’t just for today! It is for the whole month of March! This shouldn’t be too hard since I have made many references a day for a long time. The dates you want to search from are March 1st to March 31st. The ‘mini-game’ will be active while March is still ending, but that is by design. Collaboration is fine, but there will be no prize splitting.
Entries by non-players are accepted. Prizes for those entries are added to the general pool for later redistribution. PM all questions. If they require clarification overall, then I will announce them.
What to Look For:1) Subtle references. The commercials and direct quotes are some of the few direct references that will be counted. The Characters, the Stages, the Items, the NPCs, etc are not counted. References to their games are only counted in plots or announcements. If in doubt, put it in, but find another just in case it is not counted.
2) Only look in Plots and Announcements. Everything else is virtually the same information every single time. Added to this ‘hint,’ only look in posts that I have made that contain plot or announcements. That means you have ignore Christopher’s wonderful FLCL reference and link (Love that song!) as well as any other references in players’ posts or my corrections. (No staff-chucks :()
3) Double references. Big hint on what I mean by that: Mr Kennedy’s NBC-style PSA with the Resident Evil twist. Or Snake, Sam, and Raiden’s commercial. They are a little subtler, but worth two references on the final tally.
4) Multiple references from the same source count as one large reference. Just mentioning that since I found one like that on Day 1.
5) Anything else? This space will be used for clarification if needed.
Entry Dates: Midnight April 1 (by your time zone) - Midnight April 5 (by my time zone/NST).
Winners posted: April 7 Update(Times chosen as to give players more than enough time to send in an entry)
Entry Format:
Code:
Day #:
Reference - Source - Approximate location of reference in the post.

Day #+1: etc
Prizes:
1st - +100 Points and ???
2nd - +50 Points and ???
All entries that are a minimum of 25 references long get +10 Points automatically. The entry with the most, accurate references wins. The list of references that I have found will be posted at the end of the mini-game.
This Round's NPC(s):
1 Metroid: 5 HP. +5 points when defeated. Immune to regular attacks. Deals - 3 damage to one character at the end of this round. Instantly defeated by any DS9er or Team Sephiroth special.
This Round's Faction Ability:
None
Quick but important poll!
If you want to be polled (no need to enter), please post what time zone you are in, based on GMT. I am in PST which is GMT -8. This way I can keep track of double posts better.
Thank you!
