I think the best performances tonight were Phil Stacey, Blake Lewis, and the two Chris's. =\ They were mostly really, really average though.

Very boring night. The couple that stood out were good, at least, but the others were boring as heck. Why did they choose such songs for their first day? x_x

WIS pretty much hit the nail on the head. Those were the good and... Sanjaya was the bad. :\ Sort of sucks to see him do that as he is one of them that I'm rooting for (though I actually like a handful of the guys this year)

The girls this year > the guys. Big time. Pretty good night, actually.

Here's my predictions for the bottom two, though it's only based slightly on their performances (I think Sanjaya and Antonella will probably get votes regardless of their performance...)

Guys:

Rudy - He didn't have that great of a performance, and he was first to go. Besides the fact that I completely forgot what song he did (while still remembering how "cheesy" it was), I don't think he was very memorable, and if I remember correctly, the first male contestant last year didn't stand out at all and was first to go...

Jared - He wasn't bad, I just couldn't help thinking "Where the heck did you come from, I don't really remember you..." despite watching everything so far... It would be based on "not standing out" as opposed to not being good, since I thought he was okay. (though A.J. wasn't much different in that respect, in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it were A.J...)

Girls:

Alaina - Probably has support since the judges ripped her apart, but she was pretty bad... Not as bad as Sanjaya or Antonella, but still not good. Unfortunately, I think Sanjaya has enough fans as well as Antonella (with her little controversy to help boost her). I don't think Alaina has that, though.

As for the second spot... I'm actually torn between Amy, Antonella, Leslie, and Nicole.

---

Antonella was terrible... off key, all over the place, and actually a bit ahead of the music. Not good at all, but she seems to be one of the more popular girls... for whatever reason. She's also gotten a bit of news and radio time due to the "picture incident". I'm guessing that might actually help, for some reason...

I've actually forgotten what Amy and Nicole sang (I know the songs, but they look to alike to me to remember who sang what song)... neither of them stood out, and from what I remember they weren't very good either.

I actually thought Leslie was better than the other four I've mentioned, but I don't think she has much popularity with the people, and though I remember her, I think she may be forgettable to others.

---

I'm going to guess... Amy?

Oh ho ho! The girls just PWN'd the guys! Top three performances in the night were made by Sabrina Sloan, Melinda Doolittle, and Lakisha Jones. Sabrina Sloan reminds me of Lisa Tucker a little bit, but better. Lakisha Jones reminds me of an even more powerful version of Mandisa from last year, and I just love Melinda Doolittle. I love her modesty.

I personally thought Haley Scarnato and Jordan Sparks did very well, also.

My predictions for bottom three:

Guys:
AJ Tabaldo - I personally thought his performance was really, really cheesy. It wasn't bad, but I don't think it is going to appeal to very many people.

Rudy Cardenas - I actually kind of liked Rudy, he didn't do bad, but he doesn't have as big of a fan base.

Paul Kim - Although I don't think he'll get eliminated. I don't think the bare feet thing adds to his image. It is his "thing", but it's not a good thing. He didn't do that well either, but I think people will vote for him because they remember his audition.

Sanjaya did do pretty bad, but he has a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge fanbase for some reason. :P I don't think they even spotlighted him that much in the auditions and Hollywood week. Sanjaya is like Season 5's Kevin Covais, and Season 4's Anthony Federov. Although Anthony did get to top 4.

Girls:

Antonella Barba - I think she did the worst of the girls. I hope she leaves, even though she is pretty, and might have a fanbase. I don't know, I remember last season, Becky O'Donohue had somewhat of a similar situation, and she got eliminated right off the bat.

Amy Krebs - Way too forgettable, I think. It wasn't that good either.

Alaina Alexander - I love Alaina, I hope she doesn't get eliminated. But she didn't do very well last night, although it wasn't horrible. She has a unique voice, and a big fanbase already (From what I see). There's one of her in every season, i.e. Melissa McGhee from Season 5 and Lindsey Cardinale (I think it was) from Season 4. I hope she does better, though.

The girls were way better than the guys tonight, but some performances were again pretty boring. Why is everyone choosing slow, dreary, adult-contemporary songs? It's like they don't care if they are going on or not.

The person who stood out the most was definitely Lakisha.

My predictions -

Bottom 3 guys:
No idea, a lot of them were kind of bad/mediocre, so it could be almost anyone.

Bottom 3 girls:
Gotta agree with WIS, Antonella, Amy, and Alaina. Antonella deserves to go.

I'm going to have to tape it tomorrow with all the Thursday TV. I hate the results shows anyways because they really could be a lot shorter, like this one could be 15 minutes at most.

Overall, I'm not too impressed this season. I mean, there is some good talent, but right now I can't imagine any of them winning. With every season so far, I've had a favorite from the beginning (Season 3 was a bit boring though so it took me a while to like someone). Kelly, Clay, Carrie, and Chris were my favorites. I liked Diana in season 3 but she kind of pales in comparison to Kelly and Carrie. I guess my favorite guy is Chris Sligh and my favorite girl is Lakisha so far.

They're safe songs. They don't have to move a lot, or risk looking stupid.

I didn't watch the performances. I meant to watch the guys to see Chris Sligh's performance, but I didn't get a chance. D:
From what I saw, he did good though.

Safe songs = forgettable and forgettable = U R GOING HOME PEOPLEZ!

But yeah, I don't think they should have gone for safe songs, because I don't remember ANY of the performances (except the absolutely terrible ones) that used safe songs. One shot at a first impression, and, well, the people that didn't do safe songs (once again, excluding the people that did badly) have made an impression, good or bad. The good people will get votes for being good, and the bad may very well get pity votes (plus their fan-base votes), but in-between, I don't think there's much to rely on there, except luck.

No surprises for eliminations for me anyway...

Sweet new exit song, though... sounds a bit, er, familiar...

Nope, not surprising, though can someone tell me what the bottom threes were? I went to take a nap and I woke up at 7:55 (just in time to see the last person eliminated and the ending video). I just missed the people that ended up not being eliminated. :P

They didn't actually do the bottom three, they just went through two rows of each gender and ended up with the person being eliminated.

I thought some of them were actually pretty rude, just randomly telling them they were eliminated suddenly.

I was surprised there were no bottom three this time. =\

But yay for Alaina not being eliminated. :P

I actually found it somewhat ironic that Nicole and Amy went (just because I constantly mix them up, and I'll never have to worry about that now. :P). They had to be the most forgettable females singers there, though not the worst, by any means. They were just in the worst spot they could have been in, sort of in the middle of the pack (in terms of performances). The two guys eliminated sort of were too.

Just for the heck of it, and because I was bored, I checked out DialIdol after the show ended and saw that it had Antonella Barba and Sanjaya Malakar both having the second highest amount of votes for their gender. I highly doubt it's anywhere near accurate (it said Alaina had 0.00% of the votes? :roflol: ), but that's a bit of a scary thought if it's actually true that they garner THAT many votes (moreso Antonella...)

I don't understand how Antonella didn't go. I mean the other girl was boring too, but Antonella's was the worst last night.

Woohoo, they retired "Bad Day." I liked it, but it got annoying hearing it every week. The new song is "Home" by Daughtry! Dawn will be happy about this. XD

I'm kind of tired of Idol already - 3 nights a week is kind of a lot, especially when all of the episodes in a week are really dreary and boring. I just want them to get down to the top 12 already.

Heh, now I know three songs named "Home". xD

Anyways, I can't wait for it to get down to top 12. I hope Alaina does better this week. :(

I'm planning to make sets for the top twelve this years. :3 Would people use those?
