I'm kinda surprised we got today off. Yesterday I can understand, but today it's beautiful out. Then again, they cancelled it last night, so maybe they thought it'd still be bad today? But, well, I'm not complaining :)

They closed schools here again today, I'm guessing more because roads still weren't cleared when buses were supposed to start picking kids up this morning. I think my school closed because we have a lot of students who live in the mountains, and when the roads are even a little bit snowy, it's really dangerous for the buses.

They closed because the roads were too slippery for buses to drive safely. i didn't go because I can't leave my driveway. Theres too much snow to even shovel. Its too compressed. We called someone to open the driveway up but hes at work so he is only coming later tonight.

Well, I found out why we had today off. And why we might possibly(*hopes*) have tomorrow off as well. The schools are snowed in :P I helped shovel the elementary school out, and it took a while. I can't imagine what it'll be like getting the high school(which is a lot bigger) out.

Does anyone live in that part of New York that got 110 inches of snow (almost 10 feet) in one week? That's gotta be hard.

No, but I've had to drive through that area during white-out conditions before. It's not pleasant. I used to have to drive that way to get to my college when I went home for vacations. That was always a frustrating part of the drive in winter.

My post requires some explanation.

There are five kids in my school. We each live in a different town or city, and therefore live in five different "native" districts. Our school is in a sixth school district. If the school is closed, we don't go. If a student's "native district" is closed, but the school is not, the person is allowed to go to school, but doesn't have to.

My district had a snow day yesterday. My school's didn't. I desperately wanted to go to school (hanging around house all day = major boredom and much proximity to parentals), but the bus wouldn't come, and my parents wouldn't drive me. :(

No, I never officially left; yes, I am gone forever. I have also permanently left AIM. If you need to contact me, drop a line on LJ. Same username.
