Nah, you don't sound that way at all, Igg. It has to be very hard on your family. I imagine that it is hard on most families who are putting more than one kid through college at one time. And gosh, if your mom is doing all on her own, God bless her. My daughter goes to college in 4 years and, geesh, I think that we are going to have to sell the house and "downsize" just to pay for her expenses. Because even though we look like we have so much on paper (mostly equity in our house), it is going to be a struggle just to send her to a public school. Luckily, University of Illinois has a great reputation--and hey, if that school was good enough for me, it will be good enough for my kid.

When I went to law school, I lucked out and got a partial scholarship. If it hadn't been for that scholarship (1/2 of my tuition) I wouldn't have been able to do it. Because Northwestern is a private school, not all of their scholarships are based solely on need. Some sweet soul actually funded a scholarship for people who had been out of school for 5 or more years and who had an undergrad 3.5 GPA (out of 4.0) or less. Like the darn thing had been written just for me.
