I knew that already!

Because i once found a sponge in the microwave, so i asked my housemate why it was there and her response was simply "because anthea turner told me to".

Evidently it was one of the tips on "anthea turner, perfect housewife"

Reminds me of the story in the early 1970's about the woman who gave her poodle a bath and stupidly put it in the microwave to dry it off (this is back when microwaves first came out). The woman freaked out and had a heart attack after seeing what she had done to her little doggy. And I know that popular urban legend sites say that it isn't true, but I was around back then. I remember reading about it in the newspaper.

Someone did that in a town near me when I lived in Connecticut about 10 years ago, too. It was a little dog, but not a poodle. It was something little, I can't remember. I was too appalled by the fact that someone would do that. Especially in the 90's, you'd think people would know better by then.

while we're on the topic of microwaves, did you know that you shouldnt clean your microwave with cleaning products, as they stay on the microwave and then come off onto your food when you use the microwave again.

instead you should just get a bowl of water, with some lemon juice in it, and microwave it for a few minutes until its hot and steams up the microwave, then you can wipe down the microwave. it makes it smell nice, and you *know* it doesnt have anything harmful in it :)

Oh c'mon, everyone knows that the water supply is spiked with windex. :P

But yeah, I've heard of that before. It's also the same reason why you shouldn't clean stoneware with soap, because the soap will stay in it.

IIRC the poodle in the mircowave aledged urban legend was on the Honey I Shrunk The Kids tv show episode Honey, I'm Haunted where urban legends were occuring in Matheson, Colorado. Anyway in the episode the poodle was in the mircowave of the Szalinskis. (BTW I did feel sick seeing that on the show.)

That'll probably work better than my current method, which is getting grossed out about what must be living in the sponges after a couple of weeks and throwing them out. *dashes off to microwave them*
