It's been sickeningly warm in Virginia for the past like month. No snow at all, in fact, today was the first day like all winter it's actually been below freezing.

You know, when i lived in Birmingham we had a theory it was colder there than it was in Scotland, so we monitored it on the weatherforcast - and about 80% of the days it was colder in Birmingham than in the majority of Scotland. *grumbles about continental climate stuff*

It is bad for us considering as Lost said, on Friday we were up to the 70s and went to the low 30s the next day. Our winters are more like fall or spring. Last year I think we had like three whole days that -felt- like winter.

So obviously we're not prepared for this kind of weather, I'm not even sure where the ice scraper is o_O

Not to mention that if you wait 15 minutes the weather changes. -_-

Actually, what I've noticed is our winters have sorta been pushed back -- instead of arriving in late November/early December like they're "supposed" to, they arrive in January and February.

Our winters have been coming earlier, I think. And staying later. Last year, winter went from mid September to mid May. (I don't give a smurf what the calendar says, 'kay? If it's cold, it's winter.)

Of course, some would beg to differ. Many people I know have said it's a particularly warm winter this year. I wonder about their sanity, their physical health, and if I didn't know them last year, I wonder if they lived in Antarctica.

My question is...whatever happened to global warming? :P (My history teacher keeps saying how they couldn't farm in New England because the winters were too cold. I don't want to imagine what they used to be before cars and stuff.)

Yeah, we had school off today and Monday.

"No Tuesday?", you ask?

...Oh, the superintendent got a LOT of calls about that. We were the only school in about 30 miles with school. 30,000 people in the area without power, by the way.

Normally, we've had two or three snow days by now. But this "winter" we haven't had any snow that has stayed on the ground for more than 24 hours...and that snow has maybe been a total of 1/4 inch for all the snow we've had. Where are my snow days?! I need a day off from work!

Global warking is a badly chosen phrase - global climate change is a better one.

I've never had school cancelled. I'm from Southern California...earthquakes are merely a point of discussion and truly cold weather is a myth.

My county closes school for any sort of accumulation when the temperature's below freezing. And yet we didn't have a single snow day the last two years I was in high school. That's how crappy Kennituck weather is. We finally got snow about a week ago(the first snow of the season), but the ground wasn't cold enough so the snow wouldn't accumulate.
I suppose I shouldn't be complaining about the mild temperatures, since I walk half an hour to a bus stop for school, but I'm rather ticked off at the weather gods for not giving us a really good snow in years.

When I was in like second grade, I had school cancelled for two days because of "flooding." We always get those warnings when it rains a lot, especially where I live since the levee is literally in my backyard (behind the fence) and the river is so close by. I don't know if that time is was any worse than usual though. Once it was 'flooding' so much that we say a deer and doe like on the outside of the house. I think their home was flooded. =(

Another time we went to school and around 10 a.m., they evacuated us because of a "bomb threat" which was just an empty threat - the school didn't actually blow up. We got the rest of the day off though.

You almost sound disappointed.

I was in third grade, I wouldn't have minded having no school for a while.

Well, apparently it snowed near Malibu today. o_O My sister lives north of San Diego and she was surprised.

And apparently, in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex (which is like 6-9 counties by the way), only two school districts were open-- Dallas ISD and a smaller one. The superintendent apparently said it wasn't that bad.

Haha you should have seen it when it snowed here a couple years ago. It wasn't even sticking to the ground but everyone was happy. I was at Wal-Mart when it happened, I'll always remember that haha.

Everyone in Singapore are such sissies about the weather, since the weather is so stable(ie, boring) here.
