I went to Golden Chick for the first time today.

The chicken (the actual meat itself) was gross.
The breading was so-so, while the uber-thick and fatty skin it was on was gross. And don't get me wrong, I like me some KFC, popeyes.... etc. This was just gross.

And I got bread pudding for dessert and um, well, ew.

I haven't eaten meat for years now so I've kinda forgotten the taste of chicken...

Sorry to hear about your meal :(

Sorta? It's more like putting a custard in with bread and baking it. It's really really good.

Something like that. Yummy. *wants*

Bread pudding is the best. Mimi's in California makes the best.

Anyways, to go back on topic, I've seen plenty of the Golden Chick restaurants, but I've never eaten there.

Honestly, the only fried chicken place I'll eat at is KFC. I've had a bad experience with Church's, and Popeye's... Ewww.

They're not national, they only have restaurants in Texas and Oklahoma.

Wow, I didn't think anyone else in the world liked bread pudding but me. Mmmm, such a great treat.

I love fried chicken but I am very finicky about the kind I eat. I like the chicken from the ma and pa type places that we have around here, instead of national chains. The best ma and pa place here in Chicago is White Fence Farm, hands down. Just a couple of locations. It seems that the ma and pa places have more heart invested in making sure their chicken tastes good--as opposed to some poor soul working the fryer at a big chain for minimum wage.

Tested made this fabulous set for me!!! Isn't it great?

I've never eaten at Churches, but both my parents have gotten horribly sick at Churches in the past, so I have no plans to try it anytime soon.

We have a Golden Chick & Bush's Chicken around here, haven't eaten at either of them though, I'll definately be avoiding Golden Chick now.

Mmm bread pudding...it's super awesome when you make it with cinnamon swirl bread!

*ahem* anyways, we don't have any Golden Chick's up here in NY, and I guess I'm glad I don't. I barely even eat KFC, it's just icky to me (except for the occasional popcorn chicken or snacker). I agree that ma and pa places can't be beat. Also...I just go and make my own fried chicken (or baked using corn flakes, which is equally delicious).
