Nothing has changed for me. I totally blew at the old Volcano Run, I totally blow at the new Volcano Run. So, pretty much the same.

The graphics are better. That's a good thing. Nonetheless, I hate this new version. It's way too slow for my liking. And now that you have three lives (henceforth making it slower), it takes up more time to get a decent score for decent np. I want my old Volcano Run back. =[

Yea there is a code; type Glubgar and you gain an extra life

The new one is..semi-okay for me.
I mean, I wasn't all that good at the original, but at least I didn't die every three seconds, either.
This one is kinda slow though. I mean, I got a score of 700 on my first play through it, but I was getting bored by the time I hit 500 points.
Whatever, another game score to tack onto my already large list, can't complain really.

Hmm. I do admit that this one is a bit more fun for me to play, but does anyone find that some of the tunnels are much too narrow to navigate when you have fireballs coming at you in the process?
And that shield feels a lot more sensitive to stuff than it did before...
On the old version, I could reach at least 3000 or more, but I can't seem to get past the 800s here. That's rather disappointing, but it is more fun to me.

I got 1500 exactly last night, 8 points shy of a trophy. Heh. I'll try again in the future.
The trick seems to be to stay near the front of the screen. Then when you meet the fireballs, you usually have bigger gaps between them then you would if you stuck to the back. I very rarely fly at the "nomal" speed; I'm constantly either braking or speeding up.
The game gets VERY hard at about 1000 meters. The lava spouts start coming up in the tiny narrow tunnels (two spouts in a row), and there's a fireball flying at you at the same time.

I really don't see any point of actually having more than one life. Because if you going to do that 1000+ meters thing it be much easier to do it all when your collecting gems and when the lava balls aren't in sets of threes. Though I do like the new features.
On side note is there any other gems other then the diamonds and the rare redish bars?

It seems they changed the game a little, perhaps.
Instead of Z and X ... the controls are C and V, now. (perhaps because of german keyboards?) I had just played a game, reloaded it ... and thought my keyboard must be broken because I couldn't speed up or slow down! heh. Then I read the new directions.
Haven't seen anything else different ... although I haven't made it to the narrow lava spouts again (which were impossibly hard).

Strange. I played three games earlier today and I still used Z and X to change my speed. Maybe I just missed the changes, though.
And my highest score so far is about 730... which is about 73x better than my score in the old version.

I guess I didn't say explicitly ... but the game I had just played *was* Volcano Run II, as well. So I was playing with Z and X fine ... quit the game ... reloaded it ... and when they weren't working ... I assume my keyboard had fritzed. heh.
I've scored in the 1400's ... which I was quite proud of, but still have yet to make it to the tunnel of death again. I was to see it again!

Just the area where the tunnel narrows with the lava spouts and fireballs coming at you. It seems to be the place all the high scoreres are getting stuck at.

My controls changed yesterday from Z and X to C and V now. That was annoying since I didn't realize it.
