OMG I got it! *bounces*
I can't believe I completed the second strange. It wasn't so much hard as time consuming.

You guys had me all confused and panicky with all the crazy math stuff! :P But I didn't need any fancy math at all. What a relief!

For those who are completely kittens XD at math, like me, follow the direction on this page: http://petpages.neopets.com/~SierraSea
I was able to understand it the way they put it, and it wasn't hard to figure out at all!

I loved that page.. now we need to figure the spectral essence

I was wondering if we had to purchase something with the name "spectral" in it. I bought the card "Spectral Elemental"...nothing...put it in my Neodeck, still nothing. So I don't think it's there.

I tried that already. I even tried to mix that item and Essence of Everlasting Apple at the Shenkuu and Mystery Island cooking pots...

I still think that the Shadows in the Battledome must have something to do with it. The battledome challengers can't be totally irrelevant. Maybe you need to hit one of the shadows with something like a bottle. After all, it could be considered as 'Spectral Essence'. Maybe TNT just forgot to release that part of the plot.

Maybe...

...but Neopets puts in lots of red herrings in their plots. The Shadows might be completely irrelevant.

o_O

So I had
Composite #1:

Quantity: 18 grams
Relevant property: Divination
Target value: +41 +/- 5

Composite #2:

Quantity: 25 grams
Relevant property: Enchantment
Target value: +90 +/- 5

And I made my compositions.
For the first one I had 18 grams, and +43 divination
For the second I had 25 grams, and +91 divination

I put it into the cauldron.
And it didn't work?!
I could have sworn it would have.. *cringes* Help?

Composite #2:

Quantity: 12 grams
Relevant property: Enchantment
Target value: +81 +/- 3
Relevant property: Divination
Target value: +78 +/- 3

(thought i'd post it in case anyone else has it... i'll let you know if i get somewhere on it)

I think I unintentionally messed myself over for my second Composite:

Composite #1:

Special: Spectral Essence
Quantity: 25 grams

Composite #2:

Quantity: 12 grams
Relevant property: Conjuring
Target value: +82 +/- 3
Relevant property: Power
Target value: +79 +/- 3

Miscellaneous Composition

Quantity: 9 grams
Conjuring: +82
Divination: +17
Enchantment: +51
Power: +78

My last three available ingredients are Bumroot, Leafy, and Bagguss, and I'm having a heck of a time trying to get them to equal 3 grams of +82/+79. >_< I hope I don't have to start all over again.

would the spectral essence have anything to do with the potion we made earlier to summon the spirit of slumber? it makes sense except for the fact that while some ingredients are available, some ingredients aren't. just a suggestion people might want to look into.

Do you remember what the properties values were for the ingredients when they were seperated? Bagguss, Leafy and Bumroot are fairly low, so to make the average around 80, you would need the 3 ingredients you've already put in to have their property values equal about 300 when they were added together.
