I know that there's a new rule about the pound, saying that account younger than 4 months cannot adopt blah, blah and blah pets. So does that mean that if I signed up on the 20th of June, I can start adopting blah, blah and blah pets on the 20th of October? Or must I be OLDER than 4 months to adopt those pets?

It says younger than 4 months, so as long as your user lookup says 4 months, you will be ok to adopt.

The day your shield shows 4 months, you can adopt.

Remember also, that they go by weeks, not dates, so your account may turn 4 months a day or two earlier than you think.

You can use the adoption quick link to check. It will say that your account is not old enough.

Well this is a silly rule. Why would they encourage the creation of new pets (that would probably have not-good names by necessity) when it's possible to "recycle" older ones?

New users should be encouraged to adopt unwanted pets, instead of creating new ones with lots of numbers in their name.

This seems to me like an effort to stop exploiters which only ends up hurting normal players.

I think it's to stop people creating accounts purely to auto adopt rare pets. As far as I know, accounts under 4 months can still adopt non limited edition species in one of the four basic colours.

Most of the pets in the pound have worse names than anything I could come up with when creating, that's for sure. Most of my pets have numbers in their names but because I created them they have meaning for me so I don't mind

If your account is younger than 4 months, you can still adopt any pet that's below level 2 and painted blue, red, yellow, green, brown, checkered, glowing, invisible, orange, pink, purple, shadow, silver, skunk, speckled, split, or white. The rule is just in effect to protect people who are trying to transfer really good pets (Darigan, royal, faerie, etc.) from pound snipers, who will create new accounts just to set up autoadopters. It's a good rule.

Btw... since when is this a "new" rule? I was under the impression that it has been around for years...

No more than a year (possibly two, my memory isn't so great with these things anymore, I've been playing too long. XD; ). It's fairly recent, in terms of the site.

This isn't entirely on-topic, but if someone could let me know how much it costs to adopt a certain pet, that would be great! I know there is a url that you can type in to check how much it would cost to adopt a pet whose name you know. I did a search of the forums but have not come up with anything so far (must be my bad googling skills lol)
