I see other people are having problems getting their stick because they don't know to click on the Hissis first; that really needs to go into the thread instructions!

I just wanted to add something that others may find silly or may not have noticed. I wasn't able to do my vines because I kept clicking on the hill, instead of the sky above the hill. When clicking on the hill, I still got messages but they only mentioned the strength and they weren't "right." When I finally clicked in the sky area and got the cliff, the messages were different and described both strength and length, and I was able to get the vine rope right. It's a simple thing that no one seemed to help me with last night, so maybe most of you don't know about it. Thanks to all those who did their best to help me though

The Neopian Times editorial this week mentions a Brain Tree quest "Charles Lupe died a long time ago, and I need to know where, and when, for my records. You must go and find this information out" Could Charles Lupe be the Spirit of Slumber?

I feel pretty stupid...

I have all my vines and completely mapped out that section of the woods, I just can't manage to find my clearing.

I have a feeling I'm just having an idiot moment and not realizing something, so could someone clear this up for me? I'd be quite grateful...

This petpate has a screenie of what you're looking for, and helped me a lot since I was stumped too :)

Hm, neopets plots are overpopulated with Lupes.

Wow... I sat at a page like that for about 15 minutes clicking around yelling "but where's the clearing?!?!?". Hooray for blonde hair.

Thanks so much Wind! On to the meepits I go...

Two points to make in favor of mapping:

Mapping these small mazes does NOT take hours. It takes maybe 15-30 minutes depending on how quickly you work (which is a tradeoff with little mistakes like accidentally repeating scenes - but you can usually detect those easily because you'll get paths A->B but don't have a path that goes B->A, like there should be). People who are saying stuff like "it only took me an hour with random clicking!" are making me go *headdesk* - it is much faster with mapping!

Also, don't forget that for a while, nobody knew how to proceed in the Deep Woods (meepits part). You should take that time to map out the woods. For the Deep Woods, mapping let me go round up those meepits very quickly.

Here's my examples on mapping:

How to make the map

for those people who did the mapping thingy...

please confirm my research results:

1. the SWAMP map has 5 unique screens (including the stick and hissi screen)
2. the HIGH WOODS map has 22 unique screens (including the stone door)
3. the DEEP WOODS map has 30 unique screens (including the light meepit door)

Theory: THE MAPS ARE NOT UNIQUE FOR EACH USER
I think that there are only a limited number of these maps that are assignd for each user. At some point there maybe identical maps for some users.
Why, because using the ActionScript in Flash, it is quite hard to make "linked lists/binary trees" and considering that they have a limited time because (maybe... just maybe) the mosters are about to explode on Halloween... they will opt for a simpler programming.

This is just my humble opinion. :) Good luck to all...

We differ on the high woods (I got exactly 20), and I think someone got a different number on the deep woods.

Note that the next scene loads every single time you click, so actually every click appears to be a database query (or, more realisticly, retrieved from memcache or some similar mechanism). They probably generate the entire maze the first time you load the flash, then store it server-side.

They stored HUGE mazes for every single participant in the LDP plot, so they certainly have the resources.

I mapped and it wasn't really that hard. But for every trail I went down, there was always one trail that would bring me back where I had just come from.

After going around in circles a few times, you can probably get the idea that there are, at least, some one-way paths you can map out. Actually doing the map reveals that for every path, there is a path back the way you came.

:D Yeah! That's what I meant before and what I did. Why spend hours mapping when you can spend minutes clicking. It is not noticing so much which ones you haven't taken before, but which you have. You should notice a loop of familiarity. Once you NOTICE the loop, click somewhere you wouldn't normally have the auto-inclination to. It is not hard to notice.

I would think that mapping would be so tedious and potentially confusing. Also, I can't for the life of me figure out why people would assume that a certain image is connected to a certain area since you can only go forward, not back. What if there are several scenes that all look alike?

More rhetorical questions. No need to re-explain. I have read all the mappers suggestions and my eyes can't fathom it, lol. You're very brave!

With these small mazes, it doesn't take hours to map. A quick Prt Scrn and paste into Paint -reduce size.

I have heard it took some people 1 - 2 hours by clicking randomly. With the copy and paste method, everytime I clicked a path, I screenied a new map. Easy.

I didn't actually have to add numbers or letters and have every single path mapped.

I used it as a visual to know what screens I had been down. For most it may not be necessary, but I don't have that "instinct" to say - "oh yeah, if I go back 1 map and take the 2nd path and then take the 1st path on the map before.."

As in all plots - find what works for you and stick to it, but also don't be afraid to try new things - it may just be easier than you think. :)

I'm horribly confused. I have been all over the deep woods. Even gotten to the mystic circle thingy place. Why haven't I seen a single ghost meepit? Did anyone else have this problem?

Also, I'm kind of jealous of those who were able to get to the end of the forest with only a few clicks, but then I remember that I was very lucky in the Altador plot. :>
