I have red hair. And I get a little bit of hassle from it at school, even my own friends sometimes say (as a joke) "hello ginger minger".
I laugh with them and say "whatever".
Although if I could have a different hair colour, I probably would choose a different one, I am kinda proud of it.
It is something that makes us stand out. Something that makes us unique, something that we should be proud of.

What helped me get though the name teasing is thinking this:
"I'm a redhead, whats so different about there group? they look exactly the same, do I really want to be the same as everyone else?".

Try to ignore them, if t happens again. Once they see that they have't gotten to you, they will stop. There's no fun out of it if the person doesn't care.
Maybe even laugh with them.

I know this may not be the best of help, but just to let you know that I hear you, and I know what its like, seeing as I was once pushed down the stairs at school for "standing out".

Stay strong and don't let those weaklings pull you down.

Manicly depressed and suicidal for it.

Fight back, I dont care what anyone says, they will not learn until they are on the floor wheezing because you just punched them in the jugular.

I daresay being depressed wasn't purely to do with being mocked for hair colour.

And yeah, go violence! That'll learn them! *eyeroll* Then they won't judge you at all! They certainly won't think you're nuts. OH WAIT.

Ginger, it's hair. It's a nice colour. A friend of mine has hair that is actually bright orange, proper carrot colour. I adore it. He's got some stick for it, but so what? If you hate your hair colour, dye it. If you like it, but other people don't- stuff them.

If someone spends that much time mocking you because of your hair colour they're hardly a paragon of wit now, are they? They and their friends aren't even worth having on your radar.

You give yourself so much stick, and you take on what other people say way too much. People call blondes dumb all the time, and you still get millions of people bleaching the hair. You also get millions of people- myself included- dying their hair shades of red. Seriously, look at what Dan said!

No, because I have an interest in stellar evolution.
Yeah. I am Smarter than they are, so they felt the need to beat me up for thirteen years.

And yes, violence does work, I've seen it myself.
Course I was too afraid to use it until recently, but oh, did it work wonders.

There's nothing mature about teasing in the first place. Until you stand up for yourself, teasing will continue. And it doesn't take much teasing to push an adolescent into depression. Starting around age 10, kids haven't got much common sense. Stupid little things become stupid huge things. I remember crying for twenty minutes because a girl made fun of my clothes.
I grew up, I got out of middle school. Life got better for me. It doesn't get better for everyone. Some people never get over being bullied and teased and pushed away, because it happened at such a crazy, painful time in their lives. And I understand that. Maybe you didn't care when people teased you, but not everyone can shrug off barbed comments.

Where did all this anti-red head crap come from anyway. I'd never even seen it before 2-3 years ago.

There's almost a song in that...

Just the word 'angst' is a bit off...we need something more positive...

Hmm... like spirit? :P (If that's the song you were talking about)

Jasujo, redheads in the UK have been known to be bullied about their hair color, not sure why...

And it started for the kids in the US [including me] because of that South Park episode.

That episode was terrifying.

I find it odd that I, of all people, have not been bullied about my hair. Makes no sense. >_>
