"Vinkara?"

Now there's a name Dante had never heard. Perhaps it was someone traveling in their group. She only managed to get three people's name so far.

But this wasn't the time. Some woman shouted to her, condeming her idea of attacking the bear together, then running off on her own after checking on a younger girl. "I meant we take on the bear together, all of us! I'm not insane with a deathwish!"

Her explaination fell on seemingly deaf ears, as most people were still clearing their own out, and the woman was nearly out of earshot already. The necklace got warmer still as she placed a hand on top of it over the cloak.

Logarth was across the river when he turned around and saw the bigger bear come crashing through the trees. Now that's a big angry bear, he thought, suddenly extremely panicked. He back up some more, and then crouched down in response to the bear's roar.

When Dante and Xantcha each said opposing suggestions, he wasn't sure which one to do. If we attack the bear, even together, some of us could die. If we run, we might outrun it but we might not, he thought. He was ready to run if the others decided to.

"That's it!" Dante was growing ridiculously impatient as the bear slowly began to retreat back to the forest, "If you all want to stand there and run off, be my guest. I didn't join your so-called fellowship to walk amist a bunch of cowards!"

She threw her knapsack on the ground and pulled out her short swords from the seaths on her hips. If she wasn't going to take down this bear, she'd at least give these people some time to fully escape so the animal would lose their trail. Storming back into the river, only going as high as her knees, she moved as fast she could through the chilly water. Nearing the opposite bank, she yelled aloud at the bear, it's back to her as it wandered away, and lifting one of the shorts swords behind her, hurled it end over end, sending the blade right into the bear's rear end.

It roared, again, with some odd surprise in it's sound as it turned around on its hind legs to face the woman knee deep in water. All Dante could do was stand there with her remaining weapon. Some could will hopefully come out of this in the long run.

"Yes, thank you, ma'am." Hikaru replied.
She, for one, wanted to run. Maybe if Trekvid anf Felvil helped, they could defeat it, and chances were high that they wouldn't. If they made it in time, that would be great, if they didn't they could try fighting.
Realizing that the priestess was watching out for her, Hikaru followed her. She felt a little more safe that someone taking pains to take care of her.

Looking back, she saw Dante in the river. Oh no, Hikaru thought, stopping abruptly. What the...?

The group turned around bodily and looked to see Dante standing knee-deep in the water. Her arm was raised above her head, and her cloak had fallen off into the water. The sword embedded itself into the bear's bottom. It sent out a roar of shock as it felt unexpected pain. The bear turned around and looked down at the woman in the water, standing bravely against him. The bear roared in anger. It lumbered back to the shore of the river.

Trekvid looked over at Dante in the water. As he looked, he saw that the beryl jewel around her neck was emmiting a bright green aura around her. His eyes widened as his suspicions were confirmed. He stared at the scene, at the woman sticking out of the water a mere two or three feet, looking up in defiance at the bear, standing nearly fifteen metres high. Her entire body turned green. The bear lowered onto its forepaws into the water, its mammoth head resting barely a metre from Dante's face. Trekvid saw the reflection of the beryl jewel in the bear's eyes. The beauty of the image struck Trekvid, and would stay with him for the remainder of his life.

As he stood pondering the beauty of the image, Dante took the uplifted sword and hurled it straight into the massive eye that looked at her. The sword passed straight into the bear's eye. The bear reared up again, emitting something akin to a squeal of pain, only far louder and far more painful to hear. The bear took a step into the water, ignoring its fear of the water. It was angry. It slapped the water around Dante. The splash went all the way to soak the group that stood far off. The bear then quickly moved down to bite Dante apart. Suddenly the beryl jewel exploded with light. The light struck the bear square on the chest. Dante levitated just above the water, her arms and legs limp and back behind her, almost hanging. The light from the jewel continued to strike the bear.

The bear staggered backward when the light hit it, but it refused to back down. The pain of the beam enflamed the bear's mind. It only thought of the death of the human in the water. The bear lunged forward again. The jewel emitted a light that temporarily blinded everyone in the group but Felvil. The bear flew back and up into the air. It landed a few hundred metres into the forest. When it landed, an earthquake resulted. The entire forest flattened. Dante floated down onto the shore of the river, unconscious. Felvil looked to where the forest was and saw Adjudicand in the distance. The group looked around, trying to recover their sight and hearing.

Trekvid took off at a run for the riverside, hoping that the jewel hadn't killed Dante.

Logarth had turned around to look at the bear once more when he saw Dante standing there, her two swords unsheathed. Oh god, what is she doing?! he thought, moving back towards the river. He had just taken out two arrows and his bow when he saw Dante floating into the sky, and light coming out of the jewel around her neck hitting the bear. Then, a flash of light blinded everyone along with the bear's scream. He had fallen to the ground, clutching his ears.

He slowly opened his eyes and lifted his head up towards the river to see the forest flattened, the bear a few hundred meters from the river, and Dante on the shore of the river. When Trekvid took off for the riverbank, Logarth also ran towards it, hoping that Dante was alive and that the bear was dead. He still had his bow and two arrows out just in case.

Hikaru would have been awed and amazed, and would have stood there for a long while gawping if it wasn't for the situation. She loved these kind of things and had always wanted one of her own.
Her ears hurt from the loud noises to much at a time, but she ignored them, and although blinded, felt the way to the rivre with her feet until her eyesight cleared. Then, looking around, she wondered if there was something she could actually help with. Logarth ran past. Maybe not, but she picked up some rocks from the bank anyway and readied her sling.

'Stay here, and do not move, no matter what.', she said to the young girl. 'If danger comes, you run away, and try to find us afterward. Understood?' She did not wait for a reaction, and ran toward the river, and what looked to be Dante's limp corpse floating in the river.
She ran toward the place wherethe accident had happened.
'Well? Are you just going to let her lie there? If the the blast didn't kill her, she'll soon be dead from drowning! You!' She pointed toward Logarth. 'Pick up her legs, I'll pick her up by the front'. 'Slowly, they began to move the unmoving form of the woman out of the river.
'You fool, you stupid fool...' she muttered under her breath, both to Dante for her act, but mostly to herself for failing to recognize what the woman would get herself into in time.

The second Dante tasted wet grass in her mouth after being plopped on the ground, she knew what had happened. Face down in the muddy grass, she pulled herself up slowly to her knees, then paused as she squatted on the ground. She had no control over the darn thing, or at least she hadn't learned how. Everyone had seen it, she was sure of it, and surely Trekvid would only begin to quiz her again.

She turned on the balls of her feet to face across the river, seeing the bear lying motionless on the other side. At least the beast was taken care of. Plopping down on her behind, she crossed her fingers together and rested her elbows on her knees, head hanging, dripping wet... she wish she had some sort of explaination. Dante knew what happened, and dreaded hearing what the visual was for them.

Well, let the questions begin. Already a few people had rushed to the riverside. She was exhausted, a nap in her future would be nice. At least it was getting dark.

When he saw that the bear was truly dead, Logarth put his arrows and his bow away. When Xantcha told him to help her pick Dante up, he stepped into the icy cold water and grabbed her legs. After they slowly put her down on the grass, he hoped she wasn't dead. To his relief, she woke up and got up slowly. He backed up and looked back at the river and the bear, then back to Dante.

He was about to ask her what happened, when he realized that the sound the bear made upon dieing and hitting the ground would probably have been heard by anyone who might've been nearby, and possibly the city in the distance. "I would like to know what happened, but I think we should move away from this area, Trekvid, in case someone - or something - finds us," he said, looking around.

Hikaru paused a moment, wondering whether to disobey or not. She did not move, but she wanted to help so she hunted around the area with her eyes, looking for herbs that might help.
The woman had been taken out safely, and was lying on the grass, she noticed. Since her back was toward Hikaru, Hikaru could see that she crossed her fingers behind her back. She obviously didn't want to talk about the jewel.
Hikaru wanted to know about it as much as everyone else did, and was glad that she was at a distance from where she could hear what they were saying.
Spotting some plantain and mint, she felt satisfied and turned her attention to the group on the riverside.

Trekvid nodded. "You're probably right." He picked Dante up gently and rested her across his back. "Let's get moving. We'll take a rest as soon as we get out of the area." He set off, bidding the group to follow. He moved quickly, searching for a place to hide and camp in this plain of rolling hills. The hills were bright and green, a relief from the dark browns of the forest. He put some distance between the two of them and the rest of the group.

"You can talk to me now or later, but I want to talk to you either way, it's up to you." He said. He found a nice small basin in the hills and descended into it. He rested Dante on the ground and made sure she was very comfortable. He went back to help more of the group into the basin, as Felvil was doing.

Thanking Felvil as he helped her in, she hopped lightly down.
Looking find a comfortable place she spotted on near where the lady with the jewel was. Remembering what the priestess had said, she made sure to be somewhere where she could be seen well. While she waited for the priestess, she hesitantly talked to lady with the jewel.
"Hi..... Are you ok?" Glancing sideways, she licked her lips "I-I'm Hikaru."

Dante said nothing. Nothing but a sigh. At least the ground was dry here. As the rest of the group came down in the the small, hidden valley, she just sat there, avoiding everyone's gaze. It was rather embarassing; she had no explaination. Someone was nice enough to pull her short swords from the bear's corpse, her cloak from the river, and her bag she nearly abandonded.

"Thank you," she kept her eyes on the tall grass, hiding their camp for the night. Her bag would work as a pillow as usual, only her cloak was dripping wet, and she hadn't yet had a chance to dry herself off yet. The sun nearly gone, it was already going to be a chilly night. She grabbed the green beryl around her neck and stared at it. Nothing, dark as normal. "Now would be a good time to glow and do something," still nothing, "Stupid necklace." Trekvid returned to her side, and Dante quickly shoved the charm back beneath her shirt. The younger girl came near as well and introduced herself. She nodded, "Dante."

　Dante did not seem to want to talk, and Hikaru was tired. So a silence lapsed between them. But after a while, her usual curiousness over came her and she tried again.
"Where are you from?" Hikaru asked. "How'd yu find us?" After asking the last question, she realized a milisecond after it came out of her mouth how stupid it was and blushed.
