There were things I liked about the old Mutant Gelert - the hunched back, the bloodshot eyes, the fangs. Then there are things I like about this Mutant Gelert - the colors used, the ears and tail, and the paws that make it look like it's been sloshing through mud (toxic mud? :P ) (btw, what's up with the shoulder closest to us on the beaten pose? It just looks unintentionally out of place and it's bugging me.)

There were also things I don't like about both, but the main thing I have against both is that they're just not mutated enough. There's so much to play with - they could give it fangs that are crooked and visible even when the mouth is closed, like on a croccodile. It could have a snake-like mouth on the end of its tail or ears, or both. It could have two or three heads, like a Cerebus. It could be all shaggy and drooling, with a tongue slightly too large for the mouth and eyes that seem to function independently of each other.

But instead? Just gets the old bulk-it-up some, throw some spikes on it, pick an odd color, call it a day treatment. On its own, it's all right, just kind of disappointing that there's so much potential that's not being used.

I rather like the new version, but I was quite fond of the old version too. And frankly, if I had to choose between the two I would pick the old one - but that's because I prefer frightening to...sort of goofy-oddball-cute, which is how I think the new mutant gelert looks.

*crosses fingers for new versions/release of faerie eyrie and grey draik soon, as well*

I wonder why they changed it? I mean why bother? it's not like the old one was terrible or something. They could've spent their time drawing a new grey draik.

Many people, myself included, complained that while it was a cool-looking pet, it wasn't freaky or strange enough to be a mutant. It just looked like a Darigan pet or something.

Every time they make a mutant pet that's just "big and mean" (like the mutant Skeith or Grarrl) it's a complete waste of the color.

This version could stand to be a lot stranger or grosser, but at least it definately looks like a mutation :)

I had a hard time finding one (that's why it's so blurry) but this should give you an idea.

Edit: For some reason, I couldn't get the image to work, so to see it, you'll have to go to this link..

Sorry.

Chocolate Scorchio

Neocolors

BTW: I just noticed that this looks different than regular Scorchios. If this is a redraw, I like it!

I like it for the most part.

The Scorchio does need a bit of a touch up. They're so flat looking. There are a lot of pets that need to be revamped or redrawn first though (Meerca, Blumaroo, Chia!!!!!).

wow he's cool looking I love the candy corn for his spikes :D

Also yes if this is a redraw this is how I wanted it updated. Just a little nothing over the top just smoothed out a bit..... (I really hope they get around to the Zafara tho)

I look forward to mutant day every year and this was absolutely the worst ever. One neopet, no petpets, not even any mutant items (space items? Puh)

Man, I hope this is a sign of a scorchio touch-up. That chocolate scorchio is super-awesome-spiffy.
