Okay just wanted to warn anyone else incase there gallery is larger then mine and they go to move things.

Here's what happened. Friend gave me a few items for my gallery so I added them then thought "oh I should catagorize and rank them" Go to do so.... see the box that says I can click the catagory and then rank them..... I think Oh this seems like a good idea and should save me a few seconds..... I click catagory by Catagory and rank the items within.... ONLY to click view all items by rank and they are not in any order anymore! they are randomly tosses about row one was all 1 Row two was 2's It was sad... I had to reorder everything! bleh. As I said not a big deal for me seeing as I really dont have THAT many items but for someone who has a gallery of 100 or so items this would be a HUGE deal.... so be warned that this could happen to you.

DO NOT reorder items in an individual category becuase it effects the order of ALL items viewed together.

It's a messy pain because they blur together. I'm sorry it happened to you. It happened to me once as well. WIth a gallery size of 50, it took me quite awhile and it still wasn't exactly right.

They give you no warning that it will DO that though. Evil Neopets!

I didnt realize it would do that either, and had a horrible time reordering some 300 items a few months ago The way they described that feature seemed so misleading. At least I know better now.

*doesn't quite understand* I've tried ordering stuff in my gallery before, using the categories without any problems...

What they mean is that you can choose the option to order your items within a category. Except that each of the items labeled priority in their category will appear beside each other when the gallery is viewed in full. So you'd have all the top items from each category, the the second ones, all the categories mixed up. If you'd rpeviously had your gallery ordered where an entire category was ranked higher than another category, it'll mess it up MAJOR.

I believe so. The item rank form is a pain. You put your numbers in the order you want, and they still take at least three or four tries of the number forms just to get them in the right order you want.

to bad they dont have a click and drag feature.... like have your 'new' items on a sidebar on the left scroll down to where you'd like to put your item drag it over and it snaps into place.... that could also help so you could put spaces to even out rows and such.... wouldnt that be nice..... think of it like the windows desktop you could put it anywehre yet it would always be in a line still..... okay maybe i'm being confusing... But they need to clarify that item ranking in catagories totaly screws everything up.

So basically are you saying you would like to have the view all items have their own ranking order?

That is, you would like to rank the view all items view, but that gets messed up when you rank the items by category?

It looks like they added rank all functionality to it.

you could always rank all items it was more of when you went to view all items then rank them but try to rank them under catagory titles...... If you chose the title while using the number rank it would upset the order of your entire gallery.

just a tip ordering can be a pain when you're trying to put new items into an existing gallery and i too had the problem of reordering over and over to get the right order UNTIL i found that i could do this:

okay, i have 'ITEM A' and i need it to go between items #6 and #7.. i simply type in 6.1 for 'ITEM A' and it goes exactly where i need it to go the same can be done for a mass of items, ITEM A- '6.1', 'ITEM B'- 6.2, 'ITEM C'- 6.3... i think you get the picture anyhow, they'd all go in that order directly between items 6 and 7

Yes, but I think the point people were making is that ordering the items in the 'View All' view would mess up the order of the items when viewing the items by category.

Hate to say this, but the glitch isn't happening just within categories. It just happened to my entire plushie gallery, 952 plushies, that had been painstakingly arranged in order of release date. I went to add one, just like I always have in the past. I needed to put it between number 739 and 740, so I gave it a number of 739.5. Pushed the submit button and all heck broke lose. Plushies are scattered all over the place in whatever order Neo decided to put them. ARGH! I am going to report it. And someday, when I have 5 or 6 hours to spare, I will put them back in order of release. But maybe not for awhile because how do I know that it won't happen again the next time I add a plushie?

EDIT: And now I see that instead of it saying Rank under each plushie, it says Rank All. So obviously Neo must have done something to play around with our galleries. Gosh, it sure would be nice if someone gave a bit of warning in the news about this. Lucky for me, I have all of the plushies listed on an excel spreadsheet in order of release date. But still and all, it is going to take me forever to fix this. Sigh.
