Oh Firefox. How I love you so. *Hugs Firefox*

Yeah, ever since I switched to FF, the amount of pop ups I've been getting are little to none. Plus, they've got a significantly better interface, in my opinion. d-(^_^)z

I use Firefox too, but I don't use Adblock because at one point it went whacky and blocked all my flash from loading, so I don't wanna have to go through all that again. I just use CSS to hide the big banners up top, and ignore the ones down bottom.

I haven't had any pop ups at all since I ran spybot, ad-aware, and symantic. YAY!

I have Firefox and a popup blocker, but I still receive countless popups here and there throughout the day. :x It's really annoying, and I've done everything I could-- going as far as contacting the ad department with screenshot proof.

One of the ads on the Neopets site downloads a file to my computer and fills my screen with a blank window, then pops up a java script demanding that I "click yes" I have to ctrl+alt+delete to close all of my browsers when it happens and Zone Alarm warns me that it has detected a virus called bl4ck.com. It always manages to clean it up, thank goodness. I have a lot of software on my computer designed to detect spyware and viruses and it scans everyday.

I posted about my experience here and someone suggested that I use Firefox as a browser instead. I am glad I switched. While using Firefox I have yet to encounter anything like that. But occasionally I forget and logon to Neo using IE and every stinking time I have used IE since I have run into that stuipid bl4ck.com virus.

Correction: AVG caught it, not Zone Alarm and bl4ck.com is a trojan.

Weird...I've always used IE when I've gone onto Neopets, and have NEVER encountered anything like that...and my computer's up-to-date on just about everything that detects and deals with those things...might it have something to do with the settings on your IE?

And since I'm already here, I had the pop-up problem a few days ago...all I did was close the browser, then open it up again...haven't seen them since. *shrug* Maybe I'm just lucky...

I sometimes get a superman movie trailer ad, whenever I check my inventory.

These pop-ups are getting annoying. My bf and I have ad blockers galore on our comp, so none of this happens, but somehow, everytime we go onto Neopets, we still get them....including some that, are adult only pop-ups....as in, men on men stuff....not stuff kids should be seeing. I REALLY hope Neopets listens to our complaints about this!!

Yeah, I've been noticing the pop-ups too (sometimes even in my beloved Firefox!)

I really bothered by the ones that overlap the screen so that you can't click on anything and the "close" button is somewhere embedded and a hassle to bother to close. I found a red car one while browsing my SDB the other day. And it gets in the way of the Money Tree sometimes...

Has anyone else encountered the ones that overlap the screen?

Whoa you have something totaly not neopets related there. If your b/f or you ahs visited any um 'adult' sites they like to instal Adware MAJORLY. Run spybot clear your cookies clear your temp files. Clear EVERYTHING and if you get a pop up like that again check the URL! that is most deffently NON neopets and something ON your computer...... check your Add/Remove programs for anything you dont reconize adn see when it was installed. If you keep getting those type of pop ups Reformat/Go Back on your computer. You got some nasty adware!

Most people who are getting popups I DOUBT they are from Neopets. There are some exceptions but if it is from Neo usualy it is related to the banner ad above and can be something you accidently rolled over. (that seems to be the new trend in banner ads) Sometimes I catch a quick at From coke or something but trust me if you have something like 'adult' pop ups its not from Neo it is from something instealed on your computer and no matter how many pop up blockers you have if you have Adware on your computer it WILL continue to show up.

Best Advise for ANYONE experiancing this problem insteal/run spybot (or simular software) run Norton, if you keep gettin them check the URL they are coming from and search it and find out what it is and if you can delete it! Search online for advise or just search for files/folders on your computer that contain keywords and go about delting them that way. If all else fails reformat.

But atleast Chi Chi i know what you're experiancing is NOT from neo.

(sorry I ramble)

It's weird though, because those type of ads ONLY come up on Neopets...we can go to any other site, and they never show up, actually, no pop-ups show up, they only do on Neopets...it's creepy...scares  me

Have you guys, especially those running IE, considered looking into Proxomitron or Proximodo?

I've been using IE since I first posted this topic. After running all of the protection against all the viruses and ads and stuff, I haven't had an issue anywhere on the web. I agree. If you're experiencing this stuff, run ad-aware or spybot or both. It'll help.

All the time. They really should not allow pop-ups that can interfere with playing the game.
