Just to bring up what the last board closed on:

Basically, random Neopets player claims he works for Viacom and knows what some of the rewards for the cup are going to be. Last thread I saw on the subject here: http://www.neopets.com/neoboards/topic. ... c=91527488 .

Prizes include:
* Avatars for everyone who played with HW or DC at some point in the game
* Sidebar for players who stuck with HW for all 4 rounds
* Trophies for all, but extra-shiny ones for those who played HW or DC all four rounds
* Point system for item prizes based on a combination of # games played total and # points scored (I'm not sure if this is averaged or totalled...)
* Prizes should be out by Thursday night at the latest

Once again, this was said by a regular poster, not TNT, so who knows how much of it is true....

Agreed. Some random neopian player says this and I won't believe them. I could just have said the same thing on the boards and half the people would have believed me anyway. They get a few days of fame, for this, and probably no trouble when it's over.

Even if it were true, I'd be so POed at HW team members getting the only sidebar.
Also, it would kinda surprise me. It has to be made first, doesn't it? If they have a flash HW sidebar all ready and waiting for them, along with only avatars for DC and HW AND winner-specific prizes.
They could probably be drawn quite quickly, but a sidebar like the maraquan one might take a bit longer. If it's only done on working days they've had four days to get them ready. Releasing them tomorrow would make me suspicious, depending on the amount and detail of team specific, winner-only prizes. The artists are likely doing more than just prize pictures, but I don't know how many of them there are. Then there's the programming, again, I don't know how many of them there are to do this or how quick and easy it is.
Either way, if it's done with heaps of team-specific prizes for only the winners I really will start to be suspicious. TNT will have been rushed to get so much out in four days.

But uhm. Even if he did work for Viacom, how would he know what Neopets is gonna do? I don't think Viacom has anything to do with the prizes, I thought it was just the staff of the Neopets office?

Well, the news for today came up and TNT said they hope the prizes will be handed out by early next week, and early next week is definitely not Thursday. So we know Mr. I-Work-For-Viacom isn't exactly quite accurate in what he says.

I certainly hope this guy isn't correct. I want a sidebar!! Sure I joined the HW on the second round (for the first round, I contemplated HW but chose Maraqua instead...stupid me) and I think that's more than what a lot of players can say. Or if it's not...then...I still want a sidebar. I never realized how dull the normal, yellow sidebar was until I saw screenshots of the Maraquan sidebar here on this site. -___-

I doubt there would be a sidebar it just doesnt seem logical with the cup. Ava's I can easily see they could have been made before hand for each team. Thursday sounds quite logical for a release date I mean hello this IS TNT where talking about they run late with everything. I'm thinking Ava's some sort of trophy for those who picked the winner for the beginning maybe lesser for those who joined the winning team later. I really cant see them releaseing anything MAJOR from the cup because it was quite a short game concidering how long other things go on.

I am thinking that there will be one set of prizes that you can obtain based upon your scores in both the plot and the cup. So if you did well in one but not the other you would get only a mid-level prize (for example, I completed the plot but was terrible at the cup).

I don't think that's very fair. Why should anyone be penalized in the prize department for one or the other for doing horribly at a completely unrelated task?

Just because the two both have "Altador" in the name doesn't necessarily mean they're related beyond that.

The Plot and Cup are 2 different things - the prizes won't be combined.

TNT have only mentioned the Cup/Ballot prizes in the news and the Plot is still open, so no prizes will be given out for that yet.

I agree it isn't logical to combine them...but the fact that they haven't mentioned separate prizes and haven't given out plot prizes makes me think that they might do something like that. I certainly hope you are right though.
