I love how there's a statement below the shopkeeper saying "background by _masta_." He evidently really likes it.

Oops... so much for my "maybe he is a pawn for someone else's ill intention" theory... I like to think people don't do crummy things like this on purpose, but that makes it sound like he's enjoying the attention. Obviously TNT will have to get involved to resolve it.

Yes, it is still there. And psyco chick is right on about the fact that it isn't just a flashy thing that we are being bothered by. The fact that it is set at a particular rate of speed, combined with the opposite colors, is causing serious reactions in people who are photosensitive. To me, it is pretty obvious that this guy is doing this on purpose. Because many people, including myself, have written him about it. And yet it continues. Oh well, first thing on my list tomorrow is to call Neopets about it. Maybe my premium status will give me a scootch of weight. And, hey, maybe there are some Neopets staffers reading this that might want to drop a dime or two about it as well. :)

My two cents worth:

Reporting this has gone too far. I am saddened that reporting seems to be the first option everyone goes to.

This person has done nothing wrong. If you don't like the flashing image just click on the STOP button of your browser. :)

I have seen and heard in shops much worse. I buy what I need and get out. It is not as if we have to see this image any longer than what we need to.

My daughter is epileptic and was unphased by it. So it isn't an instantaneous seizure producing background.

Commonsense should be used in this situation.

Once again, this person has done nothing wrong. Unless the user's intent was a deliberate action to harm people, then how can anyone judge them?

If in all the 100,000's of accounts on Neo, you only come across a handful of these backgrounds, then what is the problem?

This is 1 person with a background and user lookup - you do not have to visit it more than once if you do not like it.

Have any of you that are complaining actually used the STOP button to stop the flashing?

That's why you bring up to the user than getting anyone higher up involved. It's nothing against any rules as far as most of us know, it's merely something that's a design nono that can be pointed out to the user in a civil manner. There are far worse things to be brought up to TNT than a problematic background.

To me the first thing to do is neomail this person and I beleive that has already been done. We just don't want someone else having to vomit because of this background. I reported him but I didn't intend on having him frozen. I was just hoping for the bg to be removed.

I see it now and it is annoying, but not enough to give me a headache, but then I didn't stare for very long either.

Perhaps your browser works differently than mine, but for me, the STOP button only works if the image hasn't fully loaded; otherwise, you can't even click on it. And for me, it loaded in less than a second.

And I'm sincerely glad that your daughter wasn't affected by the background, but many of the other posters here were. Considering the person in question has apparantly ignored our requests via neomail that he change the background to prevent other, less fortunate people from getting sick from it, and considering people are getting sick from it, I think it's appropriate to contact TNT about it. I'm not going to report him, but I am planning on e-mailing TNT.

My biggest concern is that once a epileptic person sees this image, they won't be able to turn it off. I don't know enough about the condition to truely warrant this concern, I admit, but what if someone sees the image, begins seizuring, and is unable to hit "Back" or close the window as a result?
