Yes, it is fair, because they chose the correct team. Now I didn't send tonnes of scores, but that's because I didn't have enough time between school show and other life stuff, and I'm sure there are other people who are in the same position. A condition for getting prizes should be that you've sent away at least 3 scores, but that's it.

The way I see it going is:

1 ) People who chose HW at the start and stuck with them
2 ) People who chose HW in 2nd Round and stuck with them
3 ) People who chose HW in 3rd Round and stuck with them
4 ) People who chose HW for the Final
5 ) People who chose Darigan at the start and stuck with them
6 ) People who chose Darigan in 2nd Round and stuck with them
7 ) People who chose Darigan in 3rd Round and stuck with them
8 ) People who chose Darigan for the Final

I dont think that's really fair... i stuck with darigan since round 1, i think i deserve more than some kid who lost on another team and joined hw...

But you still chopse the losing team, so that technically means that you lost and 'some kid' won., He made a choice and it was the right one.

still think that loyalty to some team should be best rewarded. and sorry for the *some kid* remark, didn't meant to be rude

I agree. It should be like the first one... Seriously, Loyalty Counts...

As each Round was a game within it's self (if you lost, you could re-enter another team) I believe each Round will have its own points, then those at the end of the 4 rounds with the most points get the best prize.

Eg. The team that wins gets a set amount of points, then the games played are added on as a bonus. Teams that lost get no score but games played are tallied as a bonus.

So on down through the 4 games.

So if you were with HW from the start, you got maximum points for winning and the games played give you the bonus.

In this scenario, someone who played a huge amount of games would make up points and maybe equal someone that was on the winning side, but sent few scores.

As a side note: Loyalty only gets rewarded if you win. ;)

I think this is the most fair way I've seen so far... This would give Darigan players "base points" for the first three rounds and Haunted Woods for all the rounds, while active Darigan players will still get lots more points than Haunted Woods freeloaders...

Great way of thinking, I hope TNT thinks the same way as you do ;)

I agree . .that is a good way of awarding points. Unfortunately I picked the wrong team EVERY round.

I think it's more likely that you'd get bonuses for being lucky enough to choose the right team, and that most of your score will come from playing the game. I'd be more than a bit upset if someone who picked the Haunted Woods from the beginning, but played/won 10 games earned a similar prize as someone who played 100 but was on the losing team more than once.

I managed to get Snarkie right, so I'm hoping I'll get something for that.

Fri Jul 07, 2006 4:06 am

I went with TPOSG for the tourny also. :D

1st place: TPOSG
2nd place: Subordinate Prime
3rd place: Lawyerbot

Fri Jul 07, 2006 4:29 am

Yeah, im not surprised by the first place.... i picked TPOSG to win, and he did, but it was kind of obvious... i mean, whos more likely to win a game than its designer slash programmer?

Daze wrote:I picked Faerieland, Krawk Island, Krawk Island, Haunted Woods - and I played 506 games overall.

My daughter chose Haunted Woods from the start and stayed with them - but played less than 10 games overall.

It will be interesting to see the trophy/prize difference.

That WILL be interesting. Please post when the prizes are released as Christmas pressies so I can see. ^^

But - what I'd prefer is not an "order of prizes" thing everyone else is coming up with ideas for. There's no way that could ever be completely fair - so hopefully it will be more like what happened with the LDP.
There could be the prize choice part - we each get a calculated number of points and spend them on our choice of prizes.

HW Score - A bonus 1000 points or so for sticking with the winning team all the way through. (They said winning team - not whoever stayed on their team each round they could.)

Wins - Perhaps 100 points per actual win, 50 points per draw. Maybe even a few points per loss, just because you played *and* sent the score.

Goals - 50 points per goal you had.

Obviously I didn't give more than a single brain cell to thinking about this. Obviously those wouldn't be the exact points, but you get the general idea. This would make it fair for everyone - just because someone made it to the final round in HW with a total of 6 wins, 3-2 average, doesn't mean they deserve a better prize than someone who lost in the first round with 50 wins, 9-1 average, but kept going with a new group each time, and adding another 50 wins each round.

I can't find where it said it anymore, but I'm quite sure they didn't say the winning teams would get the best prizes. It was more like a bonus, or something. But just being on the winning team shouldn't give you some amazing, brilliant, super-rare unbuyable. TNT's becomming good at giving players unique things ever since the skeleton toy, right?
Honestly, though - these arguments about "HW gets the best prizes, everyone else is just a loser!" I've been hearing are getting annoying. Right now, I am trusting TNT a little more than to do something that awful.

I also like Daze's version, though - so either of these two will keep the neopian public from going haywire. :D

About the loyalty thing, I think it's really only loyalty to HW completely beginning to end that should count. It was the winning team, they said. I stuck with Terror Mountain through their whole one round reign - doesn't that mean I should get better points than someone who switched every round? After all, it's not my fault my whole team lost. (Oh... wait, maybe it is? :S )

Staff Tournament - I got Snarkie! I hope I get something for it. :P
