I think this lag might just expose those who are using autobuyers.......... Hope TNT make good use of this.

it was like walking through a swamp...incredibly slow. surpisingly the unbuyables and some profitable item were gone, which puzzled me. it was so difficult to load anything but how can those item be bought like? i hate to say autobuyers because i would sound like a loser but i can't find an explanation.

edit: ah..it just went back to normal for now.

Maruka, that would be excellent. Maybe if enough people send in bug reports saying they can't get pages to load, that the code isn't coming up, etc., but they see that things are being bought that will help bring this to TNT's attention even quicker.

Oh, xtcyre I completely agree! If you're gonna cheat on a game site, what are you doing in rl?! Kind of like the people who beg on the site. Do they go to the mall, sit in front a store and beg strangers to go buy them something expensive?

in some ways i think that they need to change the shop system altogether in some way, to make it fairer for people who a) dont cheat with AB's and in some respect b) have slower connections. i dont know how tho.... coz i know restocking is a skill that people practice and get better at, so giving everyone the same chance and reducing the difficulty would remove that. Also possibly giving you a limit of the things that you can buy would also annoy real restockers, as they wouldnt be able to restock, and all the ppl with AB's would still be getting a large proportion of the items. Increasing the number of items in a shop also wouldnt work as the AB's would still have the same proportion of the sales and would make as much money.... hmmmmmm. We can complain all we want, but if we can't think of a better system we can't expect tnt to.... the only option would be if tnt, rather than trying to stop AB's, came up with some way of detecting them and freezing ppl that way. Even then, v efficient restockers may get frozen, just like all of the other things ppl are getting frozen for for no reason

*sigh* i've just talked myself into a muddle. i do apologise :( this whole thing gets me down.

though that may sound like a very logical reasoning but it's not really true. most of the cheaters who choose the "easier" way out in a game normally treat a game like... a game. having worked among customers who are avid gamers from all walks of life, it's all in the attitude towards the game. some of them are successful career personnel or have respectable jobs and are quite trustworthy in real life. however, some of them, when it comes to tackling a tough game would give up and use the cheats to quickly go through the game as they don't want to stress out trying to beat it. some others would refuse to use cheats and spend longer time trying to beat it to the point that they can stay out all night till they have figured out how to beat the level. they would cheer like they have struck the lottery after that.

i have some colleagues who used to play neopets too. like any other games they tackle, they like to look for "quick fixes" because they think it was fun. when neopets was still in its infancy, they downloaded cheats to play flash games then and thought nothing of it. naturally, they were caught many months later (no bots to catch and warn then) and frozen. they were pretty much unfazed and went on to other games because to them, it's all a game.

edit: but one thing is right though, if a neopets player can spend years playing the game through cheating then you got to start wondering...

I get what you're saying, but cheats on games (i assume you mean pc/ps2/xbox games) are programmed in there. I dont think theres anything wrong with using a cheat in a flash game that neopets has programmed in themselves. it's different to actually sit down and write/download a re-stocker program. it's not part of the game as it was written by the game creators.

yeah the neopets players who actually write AB programmes are a special case but the majority of them, i believe just download the cheat. the colleagues who i mentioned previously were spotted looking through some programs that enable gunbound players to get avatars without paying for it. what they are looking for is short-term enjoyment, i suspect because obviously they know they won't last long in an online gaming community through cheating but they don't want to last that long too

however the main reason why there are so many cheaters in neopets is because it is not a pay-to-play online game.
