Your problem is that you don't have any good attackers besides the once-per battle Honey Potion. Keep these:
Leaf Shield
Downsize!
Snowglobe Staff (yes, you need a freezer*)
Greater Healing Scroll
Honey Potion
(You could keep the Halo for a backup if you like)
And were you planning on grabbing a Scuzzys Comb? They're nice. Now, in 1-player the icon types don't matter much, so you could pair a Stone Club or Ice Club with the Scuzzys Comb just for the number of icons. If you want to play 2-player (or just like dual duties, which rock), grab a Golden Compass. And a Mystical White Cloak is good for defending against air, light and dark (good to switch with the leaf shield, depending on the fight).
*Non-100% freezers are not very useful in 2-player unless you have a ton of HP, but they're very useful in 1-player, where you can withdraw and restart the fight.

Fiery Gaze/Diamond Dust (freezers -- pick one; dust is slightly better)
