I just thinkin everyone is taking this a little to far.

I'm sure in the next year, Lutari Island will be accessable for everyone.

Yes I know right now not everyone had a phone, heck, I don't even have a cell phone and I work for a cell phone company!

I don't even have Premium, that's right, because I don't have a credit card.

Perrsonally, I think TNT are allowed to do this, and NO Raza, it's not really discrimintation.

Maybe they are just testing how well lutari island will be on cell phones? Or Neopets on cell phones for that matter, seeing as more and more kids are getting cell phones (and don't say no, because its true).

Maybe they just want it exclusive for now, which they are allowed to. Yea, I feel a lil P.O.ed because I can't access it, but hey, I'LL LIVE WITH IT.

It's not discrimination if you cant get to a certain place in the site. If people wanted to play that card, I would say that its discrimination that I can't get Neopets Premium, because I can't get a credit card, because I have bad credit. But wait, did you see something? I couldn't get a credit card because of bad credit, so that is MY own fault.

It's the same reason for not owning a cell phone.

Everyone is blamming this on TNT, but, look deeper into it, and I'm sure you can honestly say, that for a certain reason, you weren't able to get it. Maybe because of bad credit, no credit card, no job, no money, ect, but you guys need to quit going around and saying "I hate TNT for making it for cell phones" and stuff like that.

Neopets is a buisness website, yes, thats right, BUISNESS. Which means, they DO need to make money to pay their employees. If they didn't do things like Premium, or the cell phone things, they would be losing out on money, which means not being able to pay staff, which also means losing staff, and then the worst happens, the site slows right down to a crawl because in the end, if they stayed with EVERYTHING free, there would probably be 3 people working on the site >.<

My lookup doesn't have enough trophies for the Talisman to look tacky on it... yet, but I was wondering: is there a way someone could use a fancy coding trick to move the Talisman?

Sure, TNT has to make money. TNT exists to make money.

That doesn't mean I have to approve of anything and everything they decide to do that will make them money. In particular, I'm on the site because it's fun and not to earn money for TNT. Anything that makes the site less fun I disapprove of.

I think having a cell-phone-only land -- even if it isn't cell phone only permanently -- is an unfortunate choice on the part of TNT. I knew it was going to be cell-phone-only for a while now, but this has been so long anticipated by so many people, I think letting only a select few in in going to disappoint a lot of people.

I think that if the training school turns out to be substantially cheaper than the main training schools, and thus it unbalances the game, it is also a bad move.

At the moment it appears that everyone being let on the island seems unlikely, at least in the near term. (It would certainly render the cell phone service pointless.) I see no reason I should assume that the island is for everyone when the cell phone ads say otherwise.

Actually, TNT operated for quite some time with everyone on the site free for users, and they had quite nice servers and a lot more than 3 staff. They made money (and quite a bit of it) via immersive advertising -- sponsor games and whatnot.

And assuming that it's the "fault" of people who have the service for not having a cell phone is silly. Yes, there's a reason I don't have a cell phone fancy enough to run this service. It's not because I don't have a job (I do) or I have bad credit (I don't). It's because I don't want or need to spend hundreds of dollars on a fancy cell phone service. :shrug:

I have no idea. Ive seen people add extra pets to make it look like they had 5. Firefox always displayed it wrong, but it looked pretty real in IE. It'd be neat to be able to move trophies around in general. It would make everything look orderly if I could stick the gold with the gold, and silver with silver, and so on. But moving around trophies is completely not important in the grand scheme of things o_o

About the whole debate though. If premium users were to suddenly get their own store to buy exclusive items, or their own training school, nobody would hear the end of it. There was always a fine line between perks and blatant advantages, and people still complain that premium additions are beyond perks. They'd be sticking a few toes over the line if the Island were kept permanently for cell phone subscribers, and more games, shops, and features were added. Its still not a big enough deal for me to get upset about, and its not surprising in any way either.

hey...no one stone me ok...I'm trying out the neopets mobile thing. Really the biggest perks I'm seeing are the Bog of Charity (haven't quite pinned down how often you can get an item) and the Wheel of Happiness (once every half hour).
I bought a few items and put them in my shop, but I haven't sold a single one all day. I've been decreasing by 5,000 every so often and am down to 20,000 (regardless of what the lutari island item is) and still haven't sold a thing. So I don't think there's much to fear about people hoarding items and making bank on them.
As for the training facility, payment is by feathers, I haven't found a single one all day...perhaps they're a rarity. So I don't think that cheaper training is going to be an issue either.
The only benefit of the games is that you can play each 10 times. The score-np value is 100-100 and there isn't a send score option...it's automatically sent. So if you mess up and only score 25, tough. That's what you're getting.
You cannot be on the cell and the site at the same time...learned that the hard way, I guess that's what I get for not reading all the rules. You get three warnings, then I don't know what happens...but I don't want to find out.
Will I continue using the service? I don't know...maybe...we'll see how much the internet fees are going to kick me in the butt at the end of the month. Is this really anything to be uberly upset about? No. Not really. Ultimately, anything you can do on Lutari Island, you can do somewhere else in Neopia, though the look and name might be different.

I think my biggest peeve with this is that they are charging. Premium I've never had a problem with I mean yes it is a pay but I see it as a perk pay thing sort of like buying the toys and such. The real reason the cost bothers me is that I thought this site was geared toward kids. I mean obviously all of us who play on Neopets are not young kids, but as if parents are going to buy there kids a phone to play neopets on? It seems unfair to the kids who play in my head.

Is there any info about this Lutari thing comming anywhere outside the US? Because it's pretty snide having

1: A pay feature and
2: A pay feature only US residents can access.

I can guarantee Ireland won't get it. Ireland never gets anything. Even our festivals are crap!

I said before, in one of my past posts, that my boyfriend accessed it on his phone somehow, and we live in Canada.

Also, if I buy, say the Sony Ericson W600i, the MRO RAZR, or the MRO L7, from my work, I could get it to, so, I personally don't think it's just strickly for US residents.

Funny how Adam didn't consider it stealing when he recommended AdBlocker during the beta testing period for the banner ads? Anyone here remember how PPT beta-tested the banners for Adam & Snarkie that seeminly long-ago weekend?? When we pointed out concerns and told him that some of us would use AdBlock, he had absolutely no problem with it.

What some people fail to understand it that WE are the product, not the cute little animals. That's why a marketer (Doug) bought Neopets from Donna & Adam to begin with.

None of this really surprises me, since Viacom now owns Neopets. I imagine there will be plenty of changes in the months ahead. And TNT really should remove the "completely free" part of the description. "Completely free" no longer describes the site.

Either way, I'm buggered. I don't think it would be possible to access it in Europe. Ireland specifically.

Either way. I think it's a bit of a rip-off. We have to pay to get online with the mobiles here for a start, it would cost far too much paying for the access to the Island aswell.

Just looking at the previous posts, I do agree with and understand everyone's aggrivation to a point. I also respect people for putting their foot down and voicing their personal opinions just as I have on the matter. But when it comes to bashing Neopets when you've certainly stayed on the site long enough to care about the matter, it gets a little disapointing.

What a mess this little island has caused! I wonder if they knew how angry people would get? I guess so... I really do hope it becomes available to everyone at some point! I have been waiting for this silly island for so long!!!

I really understand how Rauven & virtualmetal feel about this... I am a US citizen, my legal residence is still in the same little west Texas town I grew up in, but my hubby is in the Air Force and we have been stationed in Turkey for over a year now. I did have a nice cell phone that would have worked back home and would have tried a month of the service just for kicks, because in my mind the price is equal to a trip to McDonalds...but not available here. I am not surprised that the canadian phone worked, my us phone used to work in parts of Juarez Mexico, but what with Tri-band and Quad-bands in Europe & Asia I can't imagine it working the same. Not that it is even an option in this rural area of Turkey. I guess its just the fact that we can't do it, regardless of the fact that it costs money, I figured Adam and Donna being from a European country would have weighed in on this, but they may have no say at all anymore, who knows?

It does blow me away that this is aimed at such young kids though, its totally a judgment call for those of us with jobs, do we want to spend X amount of our hard earned money or not... but ugh, if my child was constantly at me to spend money on the cell just so she could see an Island I think I would be laying down some rules about Neopets! I just really have to wonder how well this will go over with the "target audience" and how many parents will actually give in and say sure rack up a huge bill, knock yourself out.

I guess we will just have to wait and see how it goes, I am disappointed there is a whole new world I can't see, but I will just keep hoping that will change, lol, I don't care so much as to the whole extra advantage thing, I just want to see it! After all the otter is my birth totem, I already adore all things Lutari!
