It's not just losses though because even if you can score 1 point against the opposing team, that helps in another way. And if you haven't already, go back to one of the first threads and look for those videos showing how to play. Those are what really got me heading in the way to win games.

Also, don't forget to send your practice scores now too, I'm assuming their keeping track of those to help with prizes also since that's even more time playing the game.

All I have to say is this game gets boring fast, approximately 9 points into each game. :P And I think we should petition to have Super-Goalie banned! There is no reason for such in a timed game anyway, in my opinion. The highest scores seen in a 3-minute game would never be that great but it would encourage those that can score well to keep on doing so. Sigh.

This game isn't really very hard. I think anyone should be able to win consistently with just a little practice. I will explain the basics of scoring in Yooyu ball. There are only three shots you need to be familiar with. Learning any one of them and playing some defense should let you win every game.

The Faceoff
First, you want to win the faceoff. You don't need to win the faceoff, but it's to your advantage to do so because it saves time and having to play defense. To win the faceoff every time, click in the following area, denoted by the red dot, at the Yooyu ball screen. Keep clicking until play starts and you see an "x" over the ball. Then wait until your player runs over and takes control of the ball. Don't put your mouse over him/her until that happens or you will make him/her stop running.

Image

So, once you have the Yooyu, it's time to move onto shot technique #1. Keep in mind that all these shots can be mirrored. In other words, even if the example shows the player going down, you can reverse the play and go up instead. The general concept is still the same.

Shot Technique #1
Here's the idea: you take the Yooyu and run towards a goalpost to draw the goaltender as far to a side as possible. Then you shoot the Yooyu into the far end.

The red line shows the general path of movement of your player from the opening faceoff. The green line shows the shot or where you want to direct your shot.

Shot Technique #2
Technique #2 is a two-man setup shot. It's great to use when you miss a shot using technique #1 because chances are your player will be left in position for this shot. The idea is to have a man/woman set up in front of your opponent's goal and to one side. Then, with another player, intercept the ball, run and draw the goaltender to the other side (away from your player in front of the goal), pass the ball to your other player and then shoot it into the open net.

The red line shows the path of your second player intercepting the ball and drawing the goaltender to the opposite side. The blue line shows the pass. The green line shows the shot into the goal. Note that you can use any player to intercept the shot. Use whoever is closest to the ball.

Shot Technique #3
Technique #3 is perfect for the Faerie Ball but is also great when you're having a bad game with shot technique #1 not working for you and you don't want to use up all that time to set up technique #2. The idea is to draw the goaltender to one side of the goal, then outrun him/her and shoot into the open net. (This was the secret Altadorian technique I described a thread or two back.)

The red line shows the path of the player from the faceoff to the shot. The green line shows the path of the shot.

At least one of these shots will work for everyone. Try them out and practice. Practice now against the Jelly Team, since that's what they're there for.

And finally...

Defense
Always remember to use the SHIFT key on your keyboard to get your players back into their original positions. When you get good enough offensively, you probably won't ever need to hit the SHIFT key, but, until then, remember to use it.

Well, it seemed like my second team went down too. I blame some of the failure to lack of modavation for the second round. I'm still hoping to get on a team that goes against Krawk Island I want to beat them sooo bad.

I was on MI until they lost so am now with KI. I only wish I could brag about a winning team but it is partly my fault since I was too busy to play much round 2.

Speaking of Pirates, I too am waiting for the movie to come out....It looks pretty sweeeet!
8) Peace

I have only scored one point for Roo Island, which is pretty lame, but the game runs REALLY slowly on my computer :x

To speed up any of the Flash-based games, you want to shrink the size of the game window. I think Opera and Firefox allow you to do this with no problems. However, Internet Explorer tends to not let you resize these Neopets Flash game windows. So, for Internet Explorer, press the F11 key on your keyboard to turn the game window to full screen. Then click on the F11 key on your keyboard again to bring the window back to normal size. You will find that the Internet Explorer window can now be resized. Shrink the window until you feel the game is running a lot smoother.

No one should have any excuses on why they can't contribute to their teams. ;)

People who don't play shouldn't be counted as participants. If Neopets is giving even minimal prizes to people with a total of 0-0-0 records, then that's kind of messed up. Plus, counting them out and stating that fact will prevent players from going at each other's throats and from trying to get less active players to join or move onto other teams instead of theirs.

Yes, and I expect there is in fact a treshold of a single game to be counted for anything. But many go ahead and play a round or two, like he/she said, they dont 'really' play. It helps, but it's no solution.

And eh, I have no objection if people who don't play get some sort of prize, as long as it's different from what players get. Like a supporters hat or something. They'll be massively available and thus monetarily worthless anyway.

I agree with farside - The point of a plot is to do something, and the more and better you do, the better the prize.
Though, rather than just something worthless, there is also the option for non-tradeable items. No one who's in it for the fun and interest could complain about that.
Plots aren't luck/chance games, where you take your pick and hope you won something.

Yes, send the losing scores. As Raza said, it sems to help more than no score sends at all.

I agree. It's boring to spend 1 minute running around the field and trying to avoid losing the ball.

I just pass the ball to the keeper, tap the space bar and then shift and then take a pee break. That's the only time to pee. :o

I do not know if this is posted already, but here is a snip from the official Press-release of the Altador Cup, founded at the site Yahoo Finances. If one is wondering what can be expected prize-wise...

"At the end of each round, players on losing teams can join another team and continue in the Tournament. The ultimate Altador Cup champion team will be declared at the end of play on July 6, with Players who participate on that team in every round receiving a virtual Neopian grand prize. Other virtual prizes will be awarded to all Tournament players, based upon their level of Tournament participation. "

It's not boring! I just start playing Benny Hill music or Flight of the Bumblebee and have my players run around the field randomly. It is hilarious to watch two players circle another then run all the way across field, just to pass it back to a defender.

:roflol: Benny Hill music! Sky, as usual, you are a genius. What is that song called anyway? I don't have any episodes of that show here. :P

You don't have to run around the field, or pass it to the goalie (that makes the timer run slower, I think). What I do is go right against an opponent, both players get blocked and you keep the ball. ;)

I hope you can understand me, English is not my first language.
