I just completed my packrat avvie, and now I have a nice collection of 1205 items in my SDB. During my hoarding, I found a couple of instances where I had items that were helpful in getting an avvie (one was a Brightvale flag in Korean for the speckled? avvie). I also found most of my early Illusen quest items in my SDB.

I'm tempted to sell most of the items for profit, but I don't really need the money -- it'd just be accumulating interest. On the other hand, what if a "gruel" avatar is released tomorrow? I have three or four gruel items in the SDB, and they'd be worth a lot more. I mostly didn't buy "junk" -- I took the opportunity of saving to experiment with restocking, and have learned a lot about the bakery and chocolate shops. I figured if I made a bad buy, at least it could go towards an avvie...

So here are a few questions. Is there a limit to the number of items you can keep in the SDB? Are there any downsides to having a lot of stuff in the SDB? What do you guys do with your SDB?

P.S. To the mods: I didn't put this in polls because I wanted more info than just a poll of what other people do/think I should do, but if you feel this belongs there, sorry for placing it in the wrong forum.

I've seen people claim to have over 100,000 items (can't look in their SDB of course, but I see no reason why they would lie about it), and they didn't seem to have hit a maximum yet. I think you'll be safe for a while..

The only downside I can think of is that it's kinda hard to find stuff if you don't know the name or category when you have more than a few thousand items..

When I received the avie I sold almost all my items. The ones I thought were pretty or useful I kept. If you find all useful you could always sell all but one of each item. I purge my sdb often by selling the duplicates.

I haven't made it to 1000 items for the av yet, but I'm close, within 35 items of getting it so I keep at least one of everything. I have no plans to sell stuff afterwards unless I have a need to, which I don't. I have a few valuable items but I don't have anything that'll make me a millionare or anything like that.

Besides that, it is fun to go to a random page and see what I do have.

I don't have much in my SDB, since I restock more than I save. Though I am going to try and get the packrat avvie soon =)

Usually though, anything I get as random events I put in SDB since I get nervous with it in my inventory with no saftey. lol

The only time I was quite lucky was when I had that koi plushie in there before the avvie came out and when it did I was like ha. I already have it Otherwise, I haven't anything of much value there.

I dislike having too much in my SDB. So many items to go through and yeah...

So far, I haven't heard of any there being any max number of items in your SDB. I just hope Neopets doesn't start charging for use of it anytime soon

I love my SDB, because I really am a packrat at heart I've found it pretty useful when it comes to the item avatars. I made a good profit without having to buy anything because I had a bunch of speckled birthday items, and some Grarrl Keno Eggs.

The accumulation of items is one of my favorite things on Neopets. I like going to my SDB and having a ridiculous number of pages to look through. It makes me happy to think that somewhere in that giant pile of stuff, I have an unknown item worth millions. I think that not knowing what you have is one of the biggest downsides, and I like that downside more than I dont like it.

I use my SDB as my "rainy day" box. Right now I have enough nps to feed my pets and make those snap-decision purchases if I need to (ie if I get a fairy fountain quest)

So every time I get a nifty / rare / expensive item given to me, I plunk it in my SDB for safe keeping, and if I find one day I'm running low on nps I can just sell a few things and be done with it.

I'm not greedy

And of course as things go in, I get closer and closer to that packrat avvie I've been pineing over

I'm up to 834 (different) items. I can't stand having loads of items in my safety deposit box, so anything that I have more than one of (i.e. medicines, map pieces; just in case I get enough to buy the rest of the collection. ^.^) goes right into my gallery.
Those junk items all get donated when I get them if there's already one in there. So many are junk items because they were easy to get, and I believe my brother has a few in there too. Perhaps I'll start up a collection with a decent value to it.

When I've gotten it, all the junk items will get donated; anything with a decent value will be sold, and anything I can use (i.e. books, dubloons, Race to Riches Scratchcards) I'll use. The only things I plan to have left are map pieces from maps I don't have, medicines and codestones. I'll confess - I REALLY like to hoard my money; as much as the Snowager does his items. Hehe. ^^;

My brother, on the other hand, doesn't sell a SINGLE item he gets. It all goes into his SDB.

Whatever you want to do. If a new item avatar comes out, I'm not so bothered about it. It will always go down in price, or somebody might miss an item and that's still cheap. I remember one kind of plushie for an avatar was about ten thousand, but another kind that got the same avatar went for about 100. So keeping items for avatars may be rather pointless if you'd prefer a smaller, clean SDB. On the other hand, if you really are a packrat, you can keep your stuff. ^_^

I hoard everything that I cannot sell for 10K at the drop of a hat. Everything else goes to my SDB. The items there has made me more money as a storage spot for 'the next avatar' than it ever would have in my shop.

I had 10 garlic halves, snorkle snouts, breads, many spotted items, skarab rings, petpets of various kinds, and crystal ball items bought during the LDP.

I had a huge sale and sold all my items for about three times what they're worth and advertised on the Chat Boards.

Am I a bad person? I made like 300k in profit.

I usually keep at least one of the item, so I have it on-hand if an avatar comes out and whatnot. And then I sell the extras. =)
