I haven't played World of Warcraft, so I wouldn't know how it works there, but in just about every MMO I've played, the sale of ingame money or items for real world cash or items is against the Terms of Service. If it is against WoW's TOS, they really shouldn't be encouraging that type of behavior.

I play WoW and that is against ToS as far as I know, they just recently banned over 30 000 accounts that were "farming" and such to earn WoW gold to sell for real money.. you are right.. it shouldnt be on Neopets..but Neopets does not control all the ads that come on the site I don't think

They don't seem to pre-screen the ads but you can report an ad and they will remove it. Which is what I would encorage you to do about that one.

Similar ads have been a problem with many other websites i've seen, they can report the ads to google under the "no advertisements for illegal things" principal since that is, as you can see, a google ad.

It's not that black-and-white... I researched some of this for my Macroeconomics project - it seems they say that you're paying for the service of transferring gold from one player to another, and Blizzard "believes it is illegal" (or some similar wording - illegal as in criminal, it's probably already illegal as in "we won't let you play anymore by the ToS") but it seems they can't prove it so.

It's probably controversial enough that you can still report it as illegal, anyway. :P

Ads like that can only be veiwed on profiles over the age of 13. I have an under 13 account even though I'm 20 so that the ads are eliminated. But I agree that any ads conserning money should not be on neopets regaurdless of real cash or imaginary money unless its neopoints of course.

yes and no. The ones that advertise items do not concern money directly. you just need the money to buy the items. but price is not given in the ads. The war one however is adverting the cost of the money which is worse tha adverting the game only.
