Price Changes

...This page shows you a list of the recent (?) price changes.

Original Kiwi-Regular
3:59 pm 04/03/2002 (u call that recent?)
363 NP 266 NP -97 NP

Whoot
3:59 pm 04/03/2002 (o.O)
10,346 NP 8,919 NP -1,427 NP

2002 isn't very recent in my books.. and all of them say 2002 for me. Is this yet another feature that Neopets has forgotten about/given up on? and if so why is it in the main toolbar? o.O

Wow... did that page even come out in 2002? Has it been there and not updated for 4 years? It doesn't seem like it. That is odd.

Its been around since then. It was around when I first signed up, and that was nearly 4 years ago, so yeah, its just not "recent" changes

One of the editorials mentioned something about the recent price changes page..like, TNT had known about it not updating, just that they hadn't gotten around to doing anything about it? I forget.

There are too many items and the prices change too frequently for them to be accurately updated manually. Who says how much an item is worth anyway? Just a few people could inflate the price of certain items sky high (especially if they used an average trading price because someone could trade something worthless back and forth to their other accounts untill it was worth more). They would have to have an automated program, every item in alphabetacle order, sorted by type (petpet, bd, foods etc.) then apply the standard inflation rate. But even if they applied the standard inflation rate it wouldn't be accurate with items given out, like by the advent callendar, so the staff members would have to adjust that also. It would be great if it could work but there are just too many variables.

I understand the difficulties one might encounter with the page, but honestly...why not just get rid of it then?

It has nothing to do with the market value. That page, and all the "Est. Values", given to an item are what its restock price is based upon. So if a "Moon Rock Formations" costs approximately 423 NP, then it'll restock for around that much, give or take a few NP.

It's been stuck for a very very very long time.... It was mentioned in Neopian Times issue number 34, at least. TNT was planning something for it, as of week 213, about 8 months ago:

why do we have the price changes page when it is nver updated,or at least the last update was about 3 years ago? ~ aa14bori
Erm… yeah… we meant to fix that. We actually have new price change functionality that we've been looking at using for this page (you may have seen it in action when trying to put a really cheap item up for auction). We'll get back on that and see if we can actually make that page useful. *blush*

I think it used to be a way to put item prices in the Neopets NPP shops more in-line with actual user-set equilibrium prices.
