How would that matter in figuring the average? Take the score from each game, add them all up, and divide by the number of games. It doesn't matter if one person has less scores registered than someone else.

it can matter if there are a lot of people playing only one or two games on a single team. then that team is at a huge disadvantage. but sometimes that's just th way it is. and maybe tnt wants altador to new, since it's new and recently-plot-fini.

You have to notice how the score in the games are not recorded, just the fact that you won or lost or tied. An 1-0 is a win and so is a 12-0. TNT are not going to give more points for a larger win than a smaller win. Like in any game, whether be it basketball or soccer, a win is a win. It shouldn't matter whether you won by 12 points or 1 point.

Thus, Underdogpuff makes a valid point that if TNT averages the scores of a player who won 2 games and a devoted player who won 400 games, the average would be decidedly lower. I don't think TNT would average.

Ah, I get it now. I was thinking scores as in number of goals per game rather than total number of wins. If it's wins then it would definitely make a difference. I think I'm hoping that they take an average of goals per game, because then it's not a popularity contest but it won't matter how many games you play, except to weight the average more. And that way skill is still important, because most people can win pretty regularly, but with different scores(number of goals).

Just because your scores aren't shown doesn't mean they aren't recorded. I don't know how accurate the media article is, but according to it individual goals do seem to count toward overall score and your score:

"Winning teams for each round are determined by the teams' collective wins/losses and the number of goals each individual player scores."

Anjuna is right, just becauses your scores aren't shown doesn't mean they're not recorded.

The only reason for not showing each score is quite obvious, players like myself that have hordes of recorded wins would take up a LOT of space to display each individual score submitted.

Also, my averaging equation (sum of submitted scores divided by total wins) seems a great possibility. Averaging score may anger some, but it is the only logical choice that doesn't tip the scales in favor of the popular teams.

White flag for round 1, not going to beat 'em this time. Only way to see a score above 9 is to let your opponent totally crush you, which isn't what anyone wants.

Souvenir Orders are going to be attempted to be filled tonight, already reached my day's goals for the games, so off to set up camp. I may post orders available every once in a while.

Actually that's not exactly true. If you watch football, during the regular season they tally all of the points. I'm a big colts fan and there was a time we clobbered the opponents. There was no way they were going to win, but the other team kept trying to get SOMETHING because if it came down to a tie, the one who had scored more points was going to get the slot in the playoffs (as explained to me by my brother). I don't have a clue how they're going to decide who wins what and moves on, but they might keep track of what was scored.

I think they'll work out a "people on team" to "number of wins" ratio. So people who signed up but didn't play would be letting the team that they signed up to down.

CURSES!!!!

I finally thought I could get down to business and start filling orders tonight. Real life, however, has decided to intervene and now I have to go and get some rest. Work called and I'm working early tomorrow.

I'll put up what I have so far, but it's pitiful. 3 items total

Noo_Noo_Man: Kiko Lake Hand, cost me 1700NP

naturifoo17: Faerieland Water Bottle and Pennant, cost me 5400NP

Sorry to the others, if fate is kind I'll get something done tomorrow night.

It's different though, as in real life, all teams are relatively equal in number of players and how many games they play. With this, some teams have way more players, some players play more than others, not all the teams are going to have the same amount of games played.

Alrighty, so I have been gone for a bit. But is anyone else having problems selecting their player during the opening scene? Like I can get the hand to show up, but when the game starts(by hitting the spacebar) the character is not selected. So do we know if they fixed that or something? Or is it just me?
Also, I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this or not, but I have managed to find an instance of every pet except for a Hissi. Can anyone else find a Hissi? I'm pretty sure there isn't one though, and I own one so I am saddend by it.

In league soccer if two teams are equal in the league table (same number of wins, ties & losses) then their positions are usually determined by goal difference - that is subtract the goals scored from goals conceded and the teams with the highest difference wins. I don't see why this cup should be different, indeed if two teams are equal I don't see how else they can decide which tems goes through. I'm quite certain they are recording the number of goals scored even if they aren't displaying them at present. It would also be an interesting side-competition for extra prizes. :)

Just my opinion, but with scores prolly being in the thousands (tens of tousands?) i can't imagine there being any ties between teams. I really don't think scores will matter. They especially won't matter when Virtupets stomps the competition by so many points.

I too think they will count the wins and the number of goals. If they are using a game to decide which teams pass, it's because they want to measure the average skill of the supporters.
Otherwise they would have made this plot like the others, where you just find clues (clues that would help you team win), and at the end of each round they would have made flash video of the actual game.

Why I do think that goals are just as important as wins is because, otherwise, a match goes something like this:
1) You take the ball, and you shoot
2) You score. Yay!
3) For the next ball, you pick it up and pass it to your keeper
4) You wait for three minutes.
5) You win.

Now, can you really say that that is just as hard as scoring nine goals and avoiding conceding? TNT must know that the opponent cannot get the Yooyu when the keeper has (after all, they did program it... didn't they? ;) ), so, they must take account of this. Otherwise, all those who just do that have easier wins than those who spend ages scoring nine goals (e.g., Shadow_Twisted, who I'm sure has played at least a hundred games now, but probably has never only won one nil).

I have nothing against people who spend all three minutes playing hard, and end up only scoring one or two - it shows their commitment. But I can't help feeling that it would be unfair if goals were not considered to be at all important in the game.

And, to those who said about this being similar to a football/soccer league, it's actually more like a cup. And, in a one-legged cup, you don't score points. Whoever scores the most goals wins the round.

Therefore, my logic tells me that, if this is similar to soccer, then the goals will count as much/more than the number of wins (although I do think that wins will count as a factor at some point as well, because a 8-9 defeat is worse than a 1-0 victory. Maybe they'll use goal difference)

If I were in charge of setting up the scoring system, I'd do it akin to

Sum of all the differences between scores sent by Darigan (including negatives, so losing by 2, winning by 3 and drawing would tally to 1) divided by number of scores sent by Darigan (IE : Averaging it)

Repeat for Terror Mountain

Whichever score is bigger advances.

Anybody who doesn't like it be damned. Muahahaah!

For all of them? What happens when Darigan isn't playing? :)

Yes, that's definately the way I would do it. It takes into account winning and losing, and also goal difference. So it's all good.
