Can you still take the quiz after you've picked a team? I'm just wondering because I picked the team I wanted so I didn't take it, but now I'm curious to know what it would have said for me.

Here.
But I always got the same result, I think it depends on your username.

BTW, I did a badge of sorts for my userlookup. It's not great, but maybe somebody wants to use it too.

 And now it occurred to me that a supporting shield for the userlookup would be neat. Arg, why are the plots always during my final exams?

That would be boring  I suppose they're taking *every* precaution to assure they're not advertising a team over the others...

Hey, I'm getting the same team no matter what, too.

Thanks for the link to the quiz - I wanted to take it just for fun. I'm really rotten at this game and I don't think I want to take the time to practice. Maybe I'll just be a team supporter. Who would want me on their team?? Do you really think the descriptions of the teams have anything to do with the actual tournament outcomes? I mean, I was thinking it had to do with us - the total scores of all the sign-up players, or something like that.

I finally figured out a way for my team to win.

If my goalie just sits with the ball, and I'm in the lead, I win! :D It doesn't help my team score very many points, but at least I won't lose 10 times in a row anymore.

:roflol: That should be my strategy, sure. I took the quiz and didn't answer the Jelly World question, but then it made me. Then the team it suggested for me is the one I had already chosen: Terror Mountain. Hmmm.....

Please tell me someone here has tips for the faerie ball. I thought I had a couple strategies a few times, but I realized I had it in more often by accident, and then eventually found that I should just let the other team get the point with the hope I'll get a fire ball afterward...

It keeps making me Altador, but I chose Meridell before we could even sign up, and I didn't change my mind, so I have no idea why I took the quiz in the first place.

32-1. Man, is this ever so fun. Terror Mountain seems like it could win, although they have to stick together. Every team has the Bad/Good list, I suppose..

Whoa. Did anybody just realize Jelly World faces you in the Practice Round? :o They got left out in the teams, no doubt. You can't escape our eyes, TNT! mine, anyhoo.

Whenever I get one I stand at the edge of the of the box (Or star I guess is what it should be called in this game), aim for a spot slightly near the goalkeeper but it still in a gap, then whack it in and hope it curves straight into the net.

Ice balls are what gives me the most trouble, you can't hit them in from far away as they loose momentum quickly, and they don't curve them either.

Hmm. Could anyone good with flash explain to me how to extract the image of the Ruki from the trailer? I managed to get good screenshots of the Kau and the Scorchio for my lookup, but the Ruki's full body is only on screen for about half a second, and I can't press Prnt Scrn that fast.

TLDR post.

I love this game. Reminds me of a football game I used to play on the Amstrad PC9512, except it has wave sound instead of buzzy tinny midi and your goalkeeper is stupider. :)

I've played 11 games, one of which I quit.
My first three games I lost 0-4, 0-2 (then I quit), 0-2.
My remaining games I won 3-0, 2-1, 2-0, 3-1, 4-0, 5-0, 3-0, 4-2.

(I keep editing this bit, it's why my edit count is so high.)

Pretty much all my conceded goals have been due to not switching to the goalkeeper when a shot is being taken. This is really frustrating. :) At the moment I'm not conceding goals only because they aren't getting the chance to shoot. When they do shoot, they score far too often. :(

These winning scores aren't amazingly high but they're getting better. That's what I like about the strategy I'm using: it's very fast to get used to and win with, because it's simple. when I get a lot better I can make more complex strategies and take more things into account.

I've chosen Kreludor on the grounds that it as a Lutari, and while I suspect there are a few minor team differences, I'm not switching (even for testing). Finding the team with a minor advantage (in the unlikely event there is such a team) will take up time I could use practising with one team and getting to know it better.

I've also yet to notice any significant difference between players, which is odd because with my strategy (which I'll reveal later) I should be able to notice very quickly. I could start keeping statistics, but that seems like effort.

{EDITED} Perhaps most interestingly of all, and probably mostly due to my strategy, is that I've noticed little difference between the three main balls! The ice and faerie balls make it easier for me to chase opponents when they have possession, and thereby take possession, but they get a slight advatage in this too. The mutant ball is of course crazy but luckily doesn't come up as much. :)

For anyone interested in keeping statistics: I advise you reduce the variables and record the things you have least control over to start with. This means *not* changing your team, or your formation, or your strategy, or even your direction of play. Just record, for each goal which ball was being used, and maybe which player scored it (I wouldn't even bother with recording, too easy to be biased and confusing. Stick with the ball to start with). You'll also want to record relative ball frequencies.

Also, remember there's always someone else out there making nice neat tables of things like this, and missing sleep to play that extra 1000 or so games. Take advantage of their boredom and geekiness by letting them do all the hard work. (:

Going to play lots more games now, then maybe talk strategy. :) PM me if you want to discuss, or visit the new #neopets channel on irc.zirc.org which will be my home from now on. n.n
