And now I can verify that it works as well - I was using the Protector constellation, not the sleeper.

If you load your telescope and mouse over the points in the Sleeper constellation, the coordinates will display. Add your X coordinates (keep positive numbers positive and negative numbers negative!), then add the digits from the resulting sum.

Do the same with the Y coordinates.

And it worked for me - room (21, 12).

Do you think we'll find the spell # using the same method?

x = 1254
y = 66

x = 1 + 2 +5 +4 = 12
y = 6+ 6 = 12

*stops lurking* This is awesome :) it worked for me too...
B55B55 - try 6, 12

I FOUND IT!!! YAY!!!

His calculations are right. The books number is not right however. He said my book would be the 18th one (by adding the 15 and 3 together), and it was the 31st one. Also, I had two negative numbers in my total for the y side and I kept them, which lead me to the right room. So if you do the math right, you can find the right room!

These are my coordinates:
201, -10
241, 20
281, 50
161, -10
121, 20
81, 50

1086 - x side - 1+8+6 = 15

120 - y with negatives - 1+2 = 3
160 - y without negatives - 1+6 = 7

My room was in x=15, y=3 and my book number was the 31st book.

I tried adding up the sum of x coordinates and the sum of y coordinates of my sleeper constelation and it didn't work, maybe we have to add up the coordinates of all the constelations?

Maybe the spell will relate to Jerdana? As she's the one who imprisoned her?

Does anyone have a list of all the possible outcomes for the spells?

Oh happy day! The neoboard theory worked for me, too. Mine was 15X15 - of course, going through manually, I'd gotten to 15X9 already, so I would have found it before long anyway. :roll:

Mine even followed the pattern where my spellbook was book #30 (15+15). Are others finding this? What if your number is higher than (how many books are there?) 32? (is that it?) Do you find it in the last book or do you have to keep clicking "around the horn"?

Now that I've found the book, I'm terrified to leave the page. Once you have the book, do you go straight to it when you re-enter the archives, or will I have to find it all over again when I log on from home?

i'm just curious, what does it say when you do find your spell book? I think I found mine, it says

"his spellbook contains 52,143 distinct spells! Which one do you want to cast?"

and asks me to type in a number. That's it I'm assuming? hmm I wonder if there's a way to figure out the number like there was with finding the book

Okay i realy like the coordinate theory.
It makes logical sense and it explains very neatly a lot of the number issues we're having (why only multiples of three, and why 12's come up so much)

However i did my math (math at bottom) and got 12x12. None of the books in this room are a spell book. Is there something else special i should be doing?

(59, 41) (99, 11) (139,-19)
(179, -19) (219, 11) (559,41)

x = 59 + 99 + 139 + 179 + 219 + 559
y = 41 + 11 + -19 + -19 + 11 + 41

x = 1254
y = 66

x = 1 + 2 +5 +4 = 12
y = 6+ 6 = 12

edited for clarity of numbers

found my issue, 259 not 559 *dur*

(59, 41) (99, 11) (139,-19)
(179, -19) (219, 11) (559,41)

x = 59 + 99 + 139 + 179 + 219 + 559
y = 41 + 11 + -19 + -19 + 11 + 41

x = 1254
y = 66

x = 1 + 2 +5 +4 = 12
y = 6+ 6 = 12

off to check 18, 12

I'll try to... it'll probably take forever, though :cry:

Bookmark it!!
You'll have to find the book again if you don't, unless you remember the room number, of course.

:o The co-ordinate theory worked for me. Although it just so happened that that was the same room (18,21) that i had been working on just as i saw the thread. You'll never guess which book it was....

book 31... The last one there. It's always the way.

who do you turn to when you're crying, and the only person who can help you is the one that made you cry?
