Story as of now:
The last of the Mario brothers is getting weak. With no major stage effect and no NPCs, the SSBM Gods (the beloved GM and Megahedron) are just enjoying the show. They like it so much that they allow GS to stick around for your gambling pleasure. Hope you have fun and take out another character or two.

1700 Rule: Regardless of when the last update occurred, you may make actions after 5PM your time zone. There is no need to wait for an update to make an action, but it is recommended. Any actions that break this rule will not count as a legal action and will be promptly (eventually) pointed out.

1) Link: Spin Attack: -3 damage to two characters
2) Yoshi: Egg Lay: -2 damage to one character and target cannot attack or heal for the rest of the round, or two characters cannot attack or heal for the rest of the round
3) X: Nova Strike: -6 damage to one character and -1 damage to X

This Round's Stage:
Gold Saucer: Bet your points! (Betting does not count as an action)
If you have no points, you may buy them by declaring an attack with a character not using a weapon or special and sacrificing damage. For each point of damage you give up, you will earn 5 points. Up to 15 points may be earned. (Counts as your action).
Betting: Say how much you wager and chose from the following list. I will roll a d6 or d20 (your choice) for each bet. You win points based on your bet. Lose points equal to your bet.
Payout ratios:
Even/odd - 1:2; Prime - 2:3 (d6), 9:20 (d20); Individual # - 1:6 (d6), 1:20 (d20)

Point trade example:
Marth attacks Purin for -1 damage and trades 2 damage for 10 points

Betting example:
200 points on Even
3 points on Prime for the d6
10 points on 7 for the d20

Not to waste his special, Yoshi egged Diddy for -2 damage. The other two actions were less than nominal at best. GS passed without incident. On the other hand, the GM got a fun idea while on the bus today and will be sharing it with everyone in a matter of moments.

Proposal

Okay. I was kicking this idea around for the last 15 min of my bus ride home. What if we split the game into copies of itself? I was thinking that I could split the game into a couple different versions with the same basic rules.

This came after I considered doing a Square Enix only/mostly game since they have a lot of great characters (plus I have written skill sets for many, many FF characters), but then I thought we could just make an entirely new game for only RPG characters. I also got the idea of creating a separate thread for only fighting game characters.

Would any of those variants appeal to anyone?

None of this is in stone, plus it is nice and easy to just drop the idea too, so your input will be valued. (Note: None of these ideas or suggestions will be implemented until the end of July when the next SSBM game would start).

Variant - style - games:
Classic SSBM - Same as it is now. Keep the same items and most of the characters. No real changes. - Anything Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Konami, Rare, etc
RPG - Same rules, but all the characters, items and stages will be exclusive to RPGs only. Lots of Final Fantasy :P - Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Fire Emblem, Zelda, .hack//
Fighting - Similar rules, but stronger attacks, no healing?, no items?, no stages?. Fighting characters only. - SNK, Capcom, maybe Marvel (from Marvel vs Capcom, etc)

Think this over. Give your opinion. I value your insight.

PS: On a whim, I am working on a Harvest Moon inspired stage. You have been warned :P

Note for the future Chris, point spending gets Pmed, but your way will be fine this time. PS: Love the new set.

Story as of now:
Since he knew it would be his last chance to use a special, Luigi used his Fireball to hurt Kirby for -4 damage. DK got upset at Diddy for pestering him to use his special and Headbutted the monkey for -3 damage. As to those that didn’t get hit by the racers, they are: Roy, DK, Luigi, Sonic, and Capt Falcon (duh. He is an F-Zero champion). Let the games continue!

Joanna goes nuts with the super dragon and blows up Luigi, Falco, and DK for -3 damage each, getting caught in it and recieving -3 to herself as well.

I actually love this set I made myself. I didn't know I had it in me. It's like the ultimate set. Really. I love it. I made it so that it is as though Sora is turning into Skeith or vice versa. .Hack = Win.
