What does before next week mean in American?

It is not a phrase that I have ever heard used in UK English but I would expect it to mean before the week begins so that would be like now, but I get the impression here people are actually expecting the clue next week.

So why say before next week if they just mean next week?

I'm puzzled. o_O

They mean it more like "before the end of next week", they just don't mention the "the end of" part :)

Is it a bank holiday in the US, as it is in the UK.
If it is, that means another day that we can guarantee that it won't be out

Well, it would probably do us good to know for definate that the clue won't be released until Tuesday.

Unless TNT decide to release it on a bank holiday. After all, they are notorious for quick plot releases! :)

Seriously, though, I'm just pleased that it'll soon be over. And now I know that no good prizes will be awarded, seeing as they have now made two New Features announcements and several Altador plot editorial questions, so you would have had to have been living in a small metal box in Sloth's lair for the last few months in order not to notice the plot.

Okay, we're just kidding about the whole Altador-plot-being-over thing. :P The 12th is coming. We were delayed a bit, unfortunately, but we hope to have it released by next week!

"released by next week" means that they hope that they'll have it released sometime during the week.

And wait for next week. It shouldn't be that long.

Oh, and, professorelite, there is one minor flaw in your graph. You said that it was "inevitable" that Neopets would release the clue between the two dates you gave.

However, they said on the news that they've been delayed. Therefore, they were not intending to release the next clue in the two-week window - they wanted to release it earlier. So, unless you are predicting that Neopets would encounter greater and greater technical problems (and that, if the Altador plot would continue for the next couple of years, we'd eventually end up with a regular meteor shower on the TNT office, followed by an attack of various dinosaurs from Jurassic Park, and a national stampede of everyone in the US), it is unlikely that the intention was to release in your window.

I'm not talking about the 2 week window, I'm talking about my prediction that there's a 50% chance that it will be between June 8th and 11th, not the "two week window". I also believe that there's a 70% chance it will be after June 5th. Also, this is a model to predict the next steps, since the plot won't continue after the last step nor for years then the whole if it would continue arguement is flawed and does not apply.

Where is this in contest? "Before next week" would sound to me like "Before the beginning of next week" NOT end.

It was in the news, talking about when the next clue would be released.

Well, I didn't check in with the real news post, but as Arka said, it's "by next week" in the news, not "before next week"... So well, that solves it all :)

And hey, I'm Belgian, so I just went with how it felt like they meant it for me :)

Teehee. "Before next week" means...well, before next week. That is, before the next week starts! Because if it's not next week, it's this week, hehehehe. So, I'm assuming they mean before Tuesday (as Monday is a holiday). I guess I can sorta see why this would be causing confusion!

Okay, I tried really hard to *not* comment on the graph, since I love math but think statistics can be skewed too easily with such sometimes. But I have a question. What exactly are the X and Y axis indicating? One seems to be measuring 13 released "steps" meaning more than just the constellations themselves? And the other is measuring what in tens? o_O

I simply do not get it, nor how it can predict anything, no offense to the author of it. I may just be missing something in it that needs clarification.

Don't get me wrong, the graph in itself is very pretty. But sometimes that is what graphs do to people. :P Make them all like *.* Ohhh and shiny.

Also since TNT said by next week, and Monday is a bank holiday, unless the clue is already out (the news was misleading or a blatant lie) or they plan on surprising us on a weekend or holiday, I would think they mean as in this coming (next) week, as in May 30 to June 2. Having said that, Tuesday's news will not be up at the crack of dawn, either, further narrowing down the "next week" time frame if they aren't delayed again.

TNT's admission of "nothing/something" hapenning in June means little, in my opinion, depending on how difficult the last stages of this plot are. Despite their history of "slow rushes" I am sure they will take what time is needed to assure us half-decent prizes, so no one is so bitter that it will prevent them from happily participating in the next surprise to come. ;) And that could very well be the first or last week of June, or even later.

Just because something is planned does not mean it will be released, and just because a graph states something beforehand that does actually occur eventually, does not necessarily mean the prediction was correct. Only that actual events just so happened to occur similar to someone's graph. So does the graph really predict released steps, or did the particular way in which the steps were released thus far, predict that someone would make a graph to try to make orderly sense of all this? :roflol: Okay, I will finish my coffee and stop rambling on ..

Anything can be predicted if the prediction is broad enough. Like "someone will call on my telephone within the next two months", or "an earthquake will hit california within the next 50 years". Considering the scope of this plot so far, a two week window is almost certain to capture a new step coming out. No graphs needed.

;) I predict that this plot will be over before Christmas! :P

Here for years and still know nothing...

Neopets name is same as this one.

And we'll have bananas by then right? Whoopee!

I'm really glad that this was a mini-plot, since it's the first plot I'm actually going to bother to complete. Hopefully this will prepare me more for the next (full) plot!

Really hoping codestone prices will drop at the end of this plot, too, once people finally come to terms with the fact there isn't going to be a war. Then I can start hording them again.

Might even bother going for trophies on the next reset. :o

I so need to bring my laptop with me on a trip now. I will bawl if I don't get anything because I'm gone...

This sucks. :(

Think they'll have it out by Tuesday evening?
