Remember to only bother with dual duties if your strength and defence boosts are the same (or very close). If you have 125 strength and 20 defence, a dual duty won't do you a bit of good. And for a strictly 1-player set, I'd go with:

-Multi-use attacker
-Multi-use attacker
-Pure percentage defence (Downsize! -- everyone should have this. It -doesn't depend on defence boost.)
-Bomb
-Healer
-Freezer
-Shield (if you've trained defence) or reflector or one-use bomb or stealer
-Dual-duty (if you've trained defence) or another one-use bomb or even another multi-use attacker.

The cheapest good multi-use attackers over 6 icons right now are enchanted wooden bow, earth faerie slingshot, and stone club. All are buyable on the wiz (35k, 60k and 68k, respectively). The psellias fighting fan is better but more expensive. Scuzzys comb/Ramtors spellbook are another step up.

Also, if you have main attackers that do in the neighborhood of 8-10 icons, an Illusens Earth Potion as a bomb is no good. That bomb only does 6.33-9 icons, so you'd be better off using your main attackers. If you can't afford a honey potion, use one-use bombs like the cheap sticky snowball, tortured snowball, snow mudball, fire muffin, etc. And for the healer, I'd suggest a greater healing scroll, as it's very cheap and will be good from the time you're low-level until you have 100 or even 150 HP. I agree with poohroony's suggestions of scarab ring, leaf shield and snowglobe staff. :)

Wow, thank you very much, that was really helpful. I love how you suggested things I could move up to aswell.

Well, this has been a surprisingly successful trip to the battledome forum, I shall retreat back to my cave now.

lexxia, since page 10 I've posted many weapons that would work for you. See especially my post for Shadow_Dream_Keeper on page 14, because you could use much of that stuff.

This is for deadmansacolite, whose thread got closed. Dead, the best set you can get for 11 mil would probably be this one:

H4000 Helmet (6.5 mil)
Wand of Reality or Bow of Destiny (3.4 mil)
Scuzzys Comb or Ramtors Spellbook (for lack of better choices) (400k or 650k)
Honey Potion (800k)
Downsize! (8k)
Greater Healing Scroll (until you have 150 HP) (30k)

It's a bit over 11 mil, but not much. And when you earn about 3.4 mil more, you should replace the S-Comb or RSB with Bow of Destiny or Wand of Reality (whichever one you don't choose right now). They work nicely paired up, and the next step after them is expensive hidden tower weapons like Werelupe Claw, maybe Ultra Bubble Gun, and then SoS/PCC.

Cool, thanks Cranberry :)

Limited Use - will it disapear?

Sun May 14, 2006 1:34 am

Items like the honey potion or the h4 something helmet cost sooooooooooo much...

Yet the descriptions indicate that they have "Limited Uses". Would this mean that after "x" amount of battles/uses it will disapear?

Or will it last forever but "x" amount of uses during a battle?

Please reply as soon as possible, cuz I might purchase a honey potion =/

"Fragile" means an item can be used more than once, but will eventually break for good, meaning you'll need to buy a new one. A scroll of freezing lasts around 5 battles, for example, and a shovel plus may last just a few rounds or several battles. (The scroll of freezing is also a once-per-battle item. The shovel plus and all other 50% reflectors can be used over and over until they break.)

"Semi-fragile" means you can use the item over and over in a battle until it breaks. It doesn't disappear forever, though; it breaks just for the battle. Pirate Captains Hat is this kind of item.

"One use" means exactly what it says -- you can use the item only once. Snowballs and muffins are one use.

"Limited Use" or "once per battle" means you can use the item once per battle and then it breaks only for the remainder of that battle. You keep the item forever and can use it once in every single battle if you wish. Honey Potion, H4000 Helmet, Ghostkerbomb, Jade Scorchstone and Thyoras Tear are all examples of this kind of item.

And, of course, "multiple-use" items can be used over and over and never break. This is all your stuff like Scuzzys Comb and Sword of Skardsen and whatnot.

I think that's everything... anyone have anything to add?

Yes, limited use items are once per battle items but-
if hue look at clockworks, they say limited use, but they are actually one use!

I noticed this after seeing the Rainbow clockwork grundo! It must be a limited use item, since it costs so much... X.x

Some things on the Neopets site are mislabeled. If you want truly accurate info, use the In-Depth Battlepedia. All BDers should have that site bookmarked, because it's extremely useful.

Just a repost of what Cranberry said ;) Guess you missed it

Spongeybob Squareypants and Dusket: your pets have around the same stats, so I'll just give some general advice. Some good weapons people around that level often use are:

Scuzzys Comb, Ramtors Spellbook, Essence of Esophagor, Stone Club, Psellias Fighting Fan, Earth Faerie Slingshot, Enchanted Wooden Bow, Greater Healing Scroll, Downsize!, Black Frost Cannon, Snowglobe Staff, Honey Potion

If you're just into one-player battling, you can use a standard set:

1. Main attacker 1 (like Scuzzys Comb)
2. Main attacker 2 (like Essence of Esophagor)
3. Freezer (like Black Frost Cannon)
4. Bomb (like Honey Potion)
5. Healer (Greater Healing Scroll)
6. Pure defence (Downsize!)
7 and 8. Stealer, if opponent has something worth stealing (Purple Sticky Hand), or one-use bomb (Water Muffin, Fire Muffin, Snowball of some sort) or reflector (Ultra Dark Reflectorb, Shovel Plus, Turbo Flame Reflector, Double Dryer, Super U-bend, Dual Battle Mirror) or shield, if your defence is decent (Leaf Shield, Patched Magic Hat, Virtupets X-514 Super Shield)

Ack. I forgot all about my previous post. Alright, sounds good. One question though. Because my pet's strength and defence are 50-52, do I need to change out anything or is this alright until I just have more finance?.

Sun May 14, 2006 8:18 pm

You should get them both up to 55, which is the next strength/defence boost, because then you'll be able to do more damage. That shouldn't take long or cost much! :) After that you can take a little break from training to earn more NP if you need to.

Hello. Hope someone can help me. I am at a point that I don't know if it's better to invest in training or to upgrade some weapons.

First, the stats:
Blumaroo
Level 66
strenght 126
defense 126

weapons I wish to upgrade: a bomb - currently Rainbow Clockwork Grundo
OR to get a second offensive weapon. At this moment, I have the MofC and the Patched Magic Hat that pretty much serve to the same purpose.

Now, if I train... will 10 or so plus points in strenght and defence make a visible difference at the battledome?

Should go for weapons before the rumours of war start to spread again? Then again, I have only one mill to invest. There is not many options of good weapons on such price range.

So... what do you think?

Thanks in advance

I was wondering about the strength/defence boosts and main weapon icons. Is there a rule of thumb you use when you reach say the 85 boost ?
I ask because my two main weapons are the royal wedding ring and the wand of the moon with strength/defence at 100. Also I do mainly one player and my next opponant is the Giant Ghostkerchief.
