Seriously, I would suggest ignoring where the water is.

Feel free to flood the city. It's fun and some speculate that that is what resets the puzzle.

My final arrangement:

x+ (vat full, no water in pipes)
xxd (bottom pipe full, no water elsewhere)
ddd (vat full, no water in pipes)

anjuna, you are not going to believe this!

I was just about to give up, and told a family member whose birthday is today " there are three rooms (showed her the rooms), just go in wherever and muck around" - I went to make a cup of coffee.

She yelled "What's this" - It was the congratulatory page!

What did she do?

Start: xx | xxU | UDU

Went into room 3
changed levers to DUU (left to right)

Went into room 2
changed lever to D
clicked left valve once
clicked right valve once

Went into room 1
clicked LEFT valve 3 times
clicked RIGHT valve once

Got congratulatory page.

Final settings: ++ | ++D | DUU

Please note:
* I still had Astronomy Club equipped to my active pet from trying out WockyChocky's theory
* It was AFTER midnight NST time (approx 12.30 AM)

Total time <45 seconds

To say I'm stunned is an understatement. I only hope you can achieve a similar breakthrough.

EDIT:
Room 1 - no water
Room 2 - Water in right vat
Room 3 - water in vat + top right channel

I had some trouble getting mine too, and ended up following someone else's directions. They posted that they fliped a couple of switches, and not reading the whole post first, I did. The next line was 'and I realized that was wrong, so flooded Altador.' So I flooded it too, and half-way through the rest of their instructions, I got it.

Room 1= No water ++
Room 2= Water in the left vat and the bottom chute ++^
Room 3= Water in the vat VV^

Maybe getting somebody else to help really is useful. A problem shared is a problem, still, but maybe a little bit less of one.

It seems that the puzzle can detect those people who are frustrated and doesn't let them pass. XD *snickers* Good to hear some of you are getting past it (finally).

What she did sounds kind of like what I did, but I mucked around in the middle room a lot first, then realized I could go to other rooms. So I went left, mucked around in there, and then went right and hit something and got the victory screen. XD;

I am so glad we are all stuck in clicky town together.

I am at the wall in step d. of the Protector Constellation. There is NO DOOR on the wall.

What steps am I missing? I've followed it to a "T".

You are looking for a small area on the wall, TEENY tiny. It is a portal to the other side- not a door really. it's at the lower right hand side.... like the guide says, it's outlined there just above the WIDEST lightgreen patch.

Another way to see it is, the LOWEST set of three bricks makes a triangle. if you extend the line of the right-hand side of that triangle, it will poke through the link, to the green patch.

Its a hidden door. ;) Tab around untill you find it.

Bah! I found the door now inside that stupid plant!

Can't figure it out and have flooded 3 times.

Where is this list by Altrus??

There you go! I have been involved with 3 accounts (mine, a friend and my son). 2 were super easy with just fiddling for a minute or less. The last one I finally resorted to the atrus site. First click on #1 and I got it (but I'd been fiddling for a day or so before that). Good luck!

i finally got the plant done after i flooded it once. after flooding i went into the room to the right, made sure one lever was down (for me it was the very last one on the right). then i went to the other rooms and opened everything (all + and n). when i turned the last one in the farthest room to the left i got the congrats screen. :)

when all is said and done, this is what mine looked like:

room 1: ++ water is only in the second from top, no water in vat
room 2: ++n water only in the left vat, no where else
room 3: nnu water only in vat, no where else

hope this helps!!! :D

oh yeah, i also solved it midmorning NST time, around 10-11 or so.

Altadorian Confession

gemma58, your story is truly amazing! :o Just think, if I can get ever this completed, I will have the best story to tell my grandchildren (if I had any). ".. And the Water Plant .. was thiiiiiiis biiiig .." Heh. :P

I was really, really wanting to fix the Plant myself, but being afraid of being left out of the plot, I now ask for help. Warning, confession follows: I feel like I might be being punished because I didn't yet tell my boyfriend that the next clue was out (we both play), since we fought over "he refuses to check the news or PPT; and I do, even writing tutorials for him so he doesn't have to read lots of splits like I do; so fine from now on go find your own news" (sorry, but we had this argument so many times, I finally went on with the plot and didn't tell him it advanced yet). I guess in retrospect this was the worst possible time to withhold such information. I have learned that cooperation is always best! Okay now TNT, pleeeeaaaseee let me fix the Plant? :battar:

It seems like the sequence can be a few clicks or several clicks long. I just hope that I do not have some inanely long sequence. Last night I practically memorized what valve and lever does what, and where the water goes. But I still have no idea what the goal is, and all my "intuition" about how the water is going, moving, flowing, etc. leads me usually 1 flip away from flooding. Then of course there was the one time I tried to flood and the last "up" lever kicked a valve open in Room 1. Crazy, insane, really.

Anyway, thanks for everyone's sympathy (and/or pity) and encouragement. This may be my last day trying. I have no more time or energy for this, to be honest, even as much as I want to go on.

anjuna, Make a deal with the boyfriend, you get him caught up and he does your plant :P

I think it was just pure luck that another family member got mine, and I think it is because they had no preconceptions about water/valves/levers.
So if you do attempt the b/f's, just get him up to the water plant and then let him "muck" around in both yours and his plant LOL.

Please do not give up, I want to see you finish this plot! You deserve it!

Ok, I've tried both the random, the self-system, and now I am going to try atrus's links. But, something I noticed, the links add the number of the link (i.e. #1, #2, #3) to the end of the URL for the Water Plant (i.e. the end looks like ...room=1&act=r1v1#5 for link #5, instead of room=1&act=r1v1 if you do it by hand).

Does this effect the results any?
