They do. I used to get them confused all the time during the beginning of the plot when I was trying to view one of their statues.

Its too hard the petpet wont heal!!
Wed May 03, 2006 10:07 pm
It will, just keep trying.
If it really isn't working, and you are following the steps exactly, then start over by going back to the archives, you may have accidentally messed up along the way.

I can give a bit more detail off of the instructions on the first post, but you can't really get much better than that.
After you have gotton all the neccisary items:
Now, go back to the Vaeolus, and you now have 5 options to help it:
(1) Feed, (2) Bandage, (3) Give Medicine, (4) Wait, (5) Check in on the Vaeolus.
(If you do not have all 5, check which step you've missed!)
There are also 4 poses: (1) Sleeping, (2) Tongue sticking out, (3) Paw held up, (4) Sick Face, paw to beak.
> What action to do based on picture:
* Sleeping ----> Wait
* Tongue out --> Feed
* Sick Face ---> Give Medicine
* Paw Up ------> Bandage
To Begin:
* Click the Vaelous from the Archivist's office.
(You MUST be able to complete Steps 1~3 within a minute for 10 consecutive minutes. Keep yourself FOCUSED on this!)
>> Step 1: Look at your Vaeolus and use the appropriate action listed above. (Be sure to only click it ONCE for THIS minute)
>> Step 2: Now click the "Check in on the Vaelous" option IMMEDIATELY.
(I differed with this. I do not entierly trust having to click the "Check in on Vaelous" option, so I had a sepeart window that I refreshed in, so I could check the Vaelous' status that way, then clicking the proper action afterwards.)
>> Step 3: Once a minute has passed (it's passed the :00 second. I suggest waiting til its :05 to assure the status is for the next minute) Click the "Check in on the Vaelous" again.
(As I said, I refreshed my extra window instead. Same result.)
>> Step 4: Repeat steps 1~3 for EACH MINUTE for the next 10 MINUTES.
!! Please note that the STATUS need NOT change each minute. (Meaning it may want to be fed twice in a row)
!! If you MISS a minute, you will need to start over. (You must start over by going back to the archivest office, and clicking on the Vaelous agian)
!! If it takes longer than 10 minutes, you may have missed a minute. Or perhaps double clicked an action. You will need to restart. (Again, by going back to the archives)
!! WARNING: DO NOT LEAVE THE PAGE, or you will have to start over.
--> f. When sucessful, your Vaeolus will light up, and a Skieth from the PPL will thank you, and you will recieve a parchment. Click the top left of it and there's your next constellation.
--> g. Talk to the archevist if you wish, then head over to the telescope and find it!
==> NOTE: At this point use the starmapper to get your data. Any mapping BEFORE this time, may cause a DIFFERENT set.
--> h. Then talk to the Janitor/Archevist/Astronomy Club as you wish.

I don't understand why everyone is finiding it hard? I followed the very clear instructions, ten minutes before I had to leave for my school bus, and with one minute to spare I had found my constellation :/

I did not have much trouble either-once I understood how it worked. I was stuck for a while when it was still a bunch of speculation as to how it worked, but I got it pretty quick.
My guess is a lot of people are clicking more than once, or are messing up at some point, not relizing it, and thus not being able to heal the petpet.

okay, the forum is officially "chock full o' people asking about the Vaeolus". i think we should make a separate thread for this, or shove it into the constellation one. sorry if i sound unreasonable, or if this isn't my place, but please, SNak! save the thread!

Well since Scott isn't around and we've talked about it in the past, the admin is going to speak on his behalf (well as it is Scott has no choice otherwise)! Since this thread
is plot discussion, it should remain here. Any other additional threads for the tasks involved is a bit too much for all of this in my opinion.
If you're bothered by such posts, you're under no obligation to read them. We're all trying to help each other out on this, I think that it's likely better if everything is in one place.

I can suffer Scott's wrath when he comes back. These instructions
MAY be clearer than the ones in the First Post.

If you are having trouble on steps prior to this, PM me and I can send you the full tutorial.
1. Assuming you have found the Medicine, Pie/Food, and Bandages proceed to do the following: Visit the wounded petpet in the Archives at the top the minute to give yourself time. You will have to perform a certain sequence of clicks every minute for 10 minutes, so make sure you will not be distracted.
2. Upon a *fresh* visit to the petpet, notice it's position and/or the URL name of the picture to determine it's requirements for treatment. They key is as follows:
Paw Out = Bandage (A)
Tongue Out = Feed (B)
Paw to Mouth = Medicine (C)
Head Down = Wait (D)
3. *Immediately* after selecting the appropriate action (within the same minute of the appropriate action for that pose), click to "Check in on the Vaeolus" (this submits the action).
4. At the top of the *next* minute, click to Check in on him again (this refreshes his pose). Perform the *next* appropriate treatment.
5. Repeat this for 10 consecutive minutes until the Vaeolus is healed and a Skeith presents you with an award which you click in the top left-hand corner of to reveal the overlay for the Gatherer's constellation.
Special NOTE! :: If you check in twice (once right after treatment and once before the next) and it is STILL not working, try checking in only once at the top of each minute. Seems people had different results with this step.

I don't think they look the same. The Court Dancer had open eyes while Jerdana is still eyes clothed. Plus, the Court Dancer is way hotter. Erm, uh, I mean... look, a three-headed mynci! *flees*

wahhhhh
*MindyEdit* - Don't stretch the boards. It makes the mods a tad disgruntled. Not to mention your post was spam. Please make sure that your post contributes something to the conversation.

Oh my goodness. Relax, take a deep breath.
You can do it!
Just set aside some time when you are doing *nothing* but healing the petpet (no other pages open except the one with instructions, no IM conversations) and you'll get through it.
And, could you please edit your post? It is stretching the board a wee bit.
