No way that's true. Even the 10k HP pet we were talking about was relatively weak when he fought the Rock Beast. (still stronger than mine though :battar: )

I'm not a BDer but I'm curiosus as to who this 10k HP pet is, I would like to look at it........

I dunno is Majal_Kita is still the strongest pet out there but he used to be for ages ;)

Majal Kita is still the strongest, yes. By quite a distance, even.

As for the topic question, most has been said. Restocking unbuyables and cove items, hoarding items that can be expected to go up in price, the odd war prize and simply playing so insanely much that random things like daily chance games and RE start paying off more significantly.

As for autobuyers, I dunno. It seems to me that the known top players are rather paranoid about staying within the rules. But maybe they've got shemes with other accounts/computers/IPs going. But I honestly expect autobuying and otherwise cheating wouldn't get you far on the long term. It might be quick NP getting away with it once, or twice, but if you keep doing it you're bound to get frozen and lose it all again eventually - unless you're really smart about transfering the gains across accounts in some untracable way.

I don't think 1 billion is really that big a deal and I do think it's entirely possible.

I managed to get a plushie PB and lab ray by 3 weeks of starting, and that was when I was new to the site. I didn't know much stuff but I was still able to get quite a sizeable amount of nps (to me at least :P)

I've been playing sparingly over 3 years, with almost 1 year of breaks, did not restock, and I have about 30 million in assests.

Obviously, some of them were lucky, they could have gotten far in Illusen/jhudora quest, restock a r99 (BGC comes into mind), stocked up on soon-to-be-inflating items etc...

So 1 billion isn't really that much to complain about. To be honest, just 1 trade, or 1 RE could have made all the difference

A good point. For example, I finished fairly low in terms of percentile in the first Meridell War, and received a Darigan Skeith Tongue. Cost me nothing, now worth millions.

Now, imagine that you've done this in the 6 or 7 plots that Neopets has had in the last few years. Brucey B, two Meridell plots, Tyrannian War, Hannah and the Ice Caves, Pirate War, Lost Desert Plot, and now Altador.

If you can do well in these plots, or even above average, and you have the patience to stick around (I'm waiting for that skeith tongue to hit 10 million before I sell it), then you will get wealthy, for multiple reasons:

1) War prizes are fairly rare, especially the decent ones. Books are especially good, although BD items may be even better.
2) People quit, get frozen, or forget about items all the time. Thus, they increase in actual rarity. Think of the Jade Scorchstone, or Jeran's Sword. Same thing happens with rare Lenny conundrum prizes, like the Holographic Coltzan Stamp, which you can now expect to pay 20 million for.
3) Collectors desire these items, especially as they get rarer, further driving up the price. I want the HCStamp for my gallery, and I might actually be willing to pay that 20 million (if I didn't want a dozen other things, too).

And so on and so forth.

As for money, most top players don't need to cheat. They can make money faster by having a huge shop.

Take a look at any of the top 10 shops in the marketplace. Look at how freaking huge they are. They've got 1000 different items, and they're all overpriced. Newbies shop in those malls because they don't know where else to go. Some people shop there because they're on a quest and can't use the wizard. In both cases, those people are willing to pay 5 or 10 times the actual value of an item in order to get it, netting these sellers huge profits on items that in my shop or yours would be exceptionally unprofitable.

EDIT: To follow up, I have a pretty sizable bank account, but I don't have anywhere near a billion nps.

I actually had the Coltzan Stamp. Unfortunately I sold it a few years ago for 300k. Darn it! :x

I had a Coltzan Stamp and sold it for about that much. They took forever to activate it, or it would be in my album. Plots and Contests are a good way to make money. I've had a Fruit Bomb and a Draik Egg in the past.

Also hoarding is good, if you pay attention. When plots closed the training school, codestones dropped by 2000np. When a plot closed down the snow faeire, choclate prices bottomed out. I made millions off those two times. Also watch for free giveaways on Halloween and Christmas. A glut of cheap foods and toys item will drop their prices, but eventually they will come back up.

Pay attention to supply and demand, especially demand. Gourmet foods, books, medicines, codestones, and stamps are always in demand, and they are consumable, which means the supply is always dropping, especially if they are retired. Anything consumable that can be had for less than 100np is worth hoarding.

I've been trying the huge overpriced shop business for about a week, and its boring and only moderate profit :(

I tried the whole restocking thing last night. Spent 2000NP and made 9000 in return. So I guess that's not too-too good, but it's pretty decent right?
I think it was beginners luck.. plus it was late at night. I've been trying all morning and have the worst rotten luck!

A 9-to-2 return is not bad.

The richest people make money in two ways (usually both at the same time)

a. Malling. You set up a huge shop selling common items at hugely inflated prices (usually quest items), then spend millions advertising and tons of New Member buy your items.

b. Reselling. You buy items from people for low prices (usually stuff like R99s), then sell them to questers for millions more.

And then, of course, theres the simple fact that if you started out a while back fairly rich, the items back then cost only 30-40k (like Thyoras Tear), yet now are worth dozens of millions.

You aren't going to be Featheralley or Hrobi. Ever. You probably aren't even going to be some of the other fairly rich people. They spend a lot of time, have perfected their own methods, and have been around for a long time. Just settle for YOUR personal best, spending the amount of time you can devote to it.

I made about 70% of my np by playing games, sponsor games a lot of the time. the other 30% I got from doing dailies, I have gotten a a few items from Coltzan's Shrine and some code stones from Tombola but I'm sure to NEVER to my dailies on more than one account. I don't want what I've worked for to get frozen. My computer is too slow to restock, by the time the page has loaded, everything is really already gone.
Playing the games may take a while but if you just make 10k per day you can have more than 3 million by the end of a year. (I haven't kept up with that though since I usually don't have time =P)

The way I see it, the amount of NP shouldn't matter. The point of Neopets is to have fun with your Neopets
*ends cheesiness*

Seriously, it is possible that you can have all that NP and be miserable (stress of maintaining said shop/mall/restocking habits concurrently with "real" life). Also...what's the point of having billions of NP if you don't spend it? :P I'm sure many of us regret splurging for say, that WC map that only gave out junk items. Goes back to the having fun thing I guess. Not saying that you can't have alot of NP AND fun tho, hehehe. Just that obscene amounts of NP are not necessary to enjoy Neopets. I prefer being mediocre, haha.

Just my two cents.

ITA. Anyone who thinks Neopoints make Neopia go round is a fool.

If you had a billion np you could afford a paint brush everyday just from the interest. I know I'd give out paint brushes everyday to people I knew if I could afford it.
For me it's the sence of accomplishment I get when I earn a lot of np or spend them on something I really want, not just having the np.
