Hi guys,
I've been lurking here for a while. Cool site! 8)

I was just checking out Trademe, which is the equivalent of Ebay I guess, and I saw this listing for a "Super Neopets Account"

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Gaming/PC-games/Role-playing/auction-55093293.htm

Looking past the fact that I don't know anyone who'd pay NZ$40 for 60,000NP and two pets ;), is this actually allowed? Can you auction off an account like this?!

"You are purchasing the account from me for the time it has taken me to get this highley ranked, it will forever be a part of neopets."

From the ToC, the FIRST point:
Quote:
As a guest you do not own the accounts, activities, items, Neopoints, characters, locations, faeries, games and pets on the site; they are for you to play with while on the site. Except as permitted by the functionality of this site, you can't sell them (for money or Neopoints), give them to anyone, trade them for anything (including Neopoints), or pretend you made them. This means that you cannot try to make money off the Neopoints or virtual items in your account or even sell the time it took you to collect such items and Neopoints. If we find someone selling Neopoints or items, we will freeze every account controlled by that user and every account of the user who purchased such Neopoints or items.

so, if they succeed in selling it, the account will be frozen, so the buyer just wasted $40. i suggest you report this before anyone wastes their money

That account is really really worthless. I don't see any significant achievement

That account's stats make me laugh. NZ$40 for two uncolored, untrained pets and only 60k in NP? :roflol:

Doesn't matter the age of the account, the amount of np, the pets (painted or plain/"normal" or LE) or anything else.

Trying to sell or buy np, pets, items (I've seen people trying to sell H4K and faerie pb on ebay!) or accounts is completely and totally against the rules.

Both the seller and buyer - or even a bidder will be frozen. And there's always the very real possibility that the account, np, etc. being sold don't exist in the first place.

I've never seen the point in selling online accounts in anything. Honestly, spending real money for virtual money? How addicted do you have to be to do that? Whether it's legal or not, I don't care. Try and earn this reputation yourself.

I've know that people on Runescape pay real money for money in the game, but only to the owner of course.

Isn't it the same thing as paying for Premium? You're still spending real money on NP, and no matter how you justify it, that's all it is.

Well the difference with this case of the auction is that the person doesn't own the rights to sell an account and they're way over charging them.

Anyone who bids on that account is an idiot. Period.

We know it's wrong no matter what the account contains- everyone agrees on that. I think the point people are making is that even if it were legal/okay to do, this would be an overpriced, basically useless purchase anyways. Stupid to buy it even if it was legal, so how much more stupid is it in reality where it's not even legal!

What about selling guides? Just a search on ebay about 'neopets Neopoints' and you pull up quite a few.
