Not only that, it was self-destructive and on many an occasion extremely frustrating, infuriating, and bad for my sanity... which brings me full-circle back to the whole self-destructive statement :)

That's true. However, I can guarantee that if you were to spend one week with Firefox you wouldn't look at IE the same way you do now. Of course you'll disagree with that statement, I did too, but look at me now 8)

I'm afraid I will have to disagree with that point, as a regular purchaser of PC Front I felt it my duty to try Firefox which they distribute with their free DVD. I believe I used it for over a week, and obviously I did not enjoy it. Can't say what version it was though.

Okie dokie. But to truely appreciate Firefox you need to download the Adblock extension along with the Filterset.G updater extension and use the middle mouse button to open links in a new tab.

Good luck with IE though... but for me I'm gonna leech Ixistant's emoticon and continue using Firefox :D

While it's true that Firefox is slower than IE to start up, this is simply because it has to load your extensions plus a lot more features than the incredibly basic IE. Regarding Firefox not being the first to used tab browsing, my question is who cares?

The only extension I have is adblock, and I just care because it drives me nuts listening to firefox zombies and their claims.

I think you're using an old version of Firefox, definitely not version 1.5+. I do know for a fact that the really old versions had some problems with copying.

I am using the latest release, I am always using the latest release. People always go 'you must not be using the latest release. You must be a moron' *patronise*

I think that's a computer problem, a bad setting, or maybe even a bad extension because I have never heard anything about apostrophes opening up a search and this has definitely never happened to me.

This happens on three different computers each with 4 years difference in age, and different windows programs? 95, 98, and XP

Again I think this is a computer problem or bad settings as this has never happened to me ever or anyone else I know for that matter.

This one I can probably put down to the countries crap internet because both of my working computers are like this.

Did I also mention I used to be a huge fan of the touch-pad mouse? I won't even go there.

And while I'm on the topic of mouses (mice?) I don't know how Mac owners can stand not being able to right-click or scroll using the best invention ever; the scrollie wheel. I'd be lost without it.
I do have a cordless USB mouse but I only use that for gaming. the touch-pad is very good on this laptop.

I've tried FF, and I VASTLY prefer IE. It's easier to use, simpler, and it loads pages faster. I never have problems with spyware or popups, and FF seems to take up more RAM, which is not good since I normally have IE, Photoshop, MSN, and iTunes all running at the same time.

I've also done the code hack thing, no noticible difference :)

I switched to Firefox around the LDP time last fall to block ads and popups I seemed to be getting with IE. However, it uses a ridiculously large amount of RAM for my frail prehistoric laptop and occasionally spontaneously shuts down. Using it is out of the question if I want other applications running in the background so I find myself frequently switching betweening Firefox and IE depending on what I'm doing. One of these days when I don't feel so mentally lazy, I intend to modify IE so I can use it as my primary browser. (But hey, more power to you Firefox users who have no problems with it.) :)

There's the Mighty Mouse, Ctrl+Click, and you can always use a PC mouse.

Oh, and Christopher, I get the apostrophe thing too. And despite what everyone says, Fasterfox doesn't speed it up a lot.

Oh, and IE Tab is the best.

You probably haven't downloaded Fasterfox and the likes. Most probably you also haven't tinkered with the about:config setting

I've never had any problem with this so I don't know what's wrong

The search box only appears if you're not typing in a text box while typing the aphostrophe.

Again, I've never had this problem before. Probably it's something to do with your computer settings? o_O
