So I was checking out some entries in the BC and ran across people protesting the new rule about side account pets. When did this rule start being enforced and what's the big deal with it? I was going to ask around the BC Board on Neopets but I figured a lot of them would be biased against the rule so I thought I'd ask here instead.

Well, if you were to win something on your main account from a pet in another account, then you would be gaining something in your main account and thus breaking a rule.

Most of the biased people store pets on thier spares. It is MUCH easier to win the BC if you have a rare pet ... like the new lutari. Since they cannot be transfered to the main account (or people don't want to risk thier other rare pets being transfered) they cannot compete. It would be cheating.

There's also a large contingent of people whose only priority are their pets and creating art for them is a big reason for them to stick around. I can understand TNT's logic behind it, but I think there should be a way to allow people to compete with more than just 4 pets. The simplest way would be not to award np or item prizes, just trophies, but I'm not sure how well that would go over with the few people who win overall. If I could draw better than I could in third grade, I'd certainly have hordes of pet pics. I'd imagine there are more people in it for the competition and trophies than there are for prizes.

yeah, i dont like it at all. I just want the trophies, maybe they should make a BC just for spare accounts where the only thing you get is the trophy, no np. Oh i also made a poll too a few days ago about it:

Agreed with above two. For many people, pets and the story, personality and image behind them is what neopets is all about, and the BC is one of the few ways to actually 'play' the site on that principle. Many of these people have pets with very developed ideas behind them on side accounts.

Besides, the 'not entering again' thing for winners is pet-specific, not account-specific, so it wouldn't be a big advantage unless you've got multiple entries running simultaniously.

I'd say just add a 'side-account pet' tag box to the entry form, meaning that winning will get you trophies but no items/np.

That sucks though! I draw art for all my pets, but its impossible to keep the all on my main (duh xD). Bleck, I dunno. I kinda stopped entering anyways because I never won, and it was annoying xD

I have to say, I really don't understand the point of all the "petitions" I've seen on the BC board. They're not going to do anything, except maybe annoy the mods - which we know is never a good idea.

I always wondered at people entering the BC or anything else on a side account, as the rules are pretty clear that you can only enter contests on your main account. Even saying you would forego any np if your pet won or placed, you're still getting a trophy. Which is only allowed on your main. No, I've never and would never report anyone entering on their side -- that's their business.

But it's been now made very clear in the editorial - no BC or other contests, no doing the plots on other accounts. I understand it's a problem for alot of people, but the bottom line is it's their site, their rules. In a way, I'm glad they actually finally clarified the BC grey area for all of us.

I don't see why they can't just submit on their main through the art gallery, there's nothing wrong with that.

Prior to this editorial, I was told by persons both from the Neoboards and this forum that entering the BC and submitting to the Times was allowed on side accounts. It seemed a number of people had asked whoever is in charge of the BC what the rules were, and she (?) in return said sides were OK. At least before last week....

I'm glad for the clarification, I suppose, but I'm not any happier about the rule itself. -_-

okay, heres basically the lowdown, people...

It is strictyly against terms do to anything on a "side account" that will make your main account, or even other side accounts, worth more. That pretty much sums it up.

Basically they're Pet Storage and nothing more, right?

<rambling> See, I have no problem entering throught AG on my main, since I'd rather the trophy there anyways, but if I have a lenny I want to enter in the BC on my side, I cant, because if I do it on my main, and I dont have a lenny, It'll go under a diff species. AND the trophy wont be on the pet I want, which is the main reason I enter anyways. </rambling>

The main problem people have with this new rule is that it was previously repeatedly declared that entering your side account pets for the BC (and entering the AG from side accounts) was allowed.

Now it seems they have changed their minds from what has always been previously said and that is why people are so annoyed and feel misled.
