I just lost a Fire PB to a scammer. He sent me some crap offer with a Kreludan Rocket Cookie, a few thousand NP, and an omelette, and I accidentally clicked "accept". That's about 500K down the drain, that I earned by doing over 20 World Challenges. I wish there was some way you could block offers, and make people Neomail you or something before offering. I'm so mad right now! I also wish there was a trade history, so you could at least report people who scam you this way.

A pop up "are you sure you wish to accept this trade" window would solve that problem. I worry about clicking accept by mistake sometimes too.

While I sympathize with ya, I'm not sure that really qualifies as a scam and the person as a scammer.

I have to agree. You might think he's a scammer because he offered such a bad trade, but that's nothing to be considered a scam on his part: just someone offering up a bunch of crud to see how far they can get.

I'm sorry, and I sympathize, but it's merely a wakeup call to pay more attention next time, eh? :)

I kind of agree with you but the popups look exactly the same, except for the words "accept" and "reject." I think it qualifies as a reportable offense, and if not, it'd at least be nice to be able to ask the person to give it back. Some people might actually have an ounce of integrity and do the right thing when asked.

That's the thing. I can't, because there's no record anywhere that I can find of completed trades. It just kills me that I lost a really expensive item in about a second, and didn't even know about it until I came back a few hours later. Not to mention the sort-of scammer got a practically free paintbrush. I'm over it now, but still.

I don't think it'd hurt if Neopets put in a trading log for all your trades of items valued over 1,000NP or something. They already do something like that for shops. It probably won't do that much good though. Even with the shop log, I doubt too many people who accidentally misprice an item, which gets quickly shopwiz sniped, ever get their items back for a "do over". (It's those Premium peeps with their fancy shmancy super shop wizard, I tell ya. :P ) Plus, not everyone can use Neomail, so, even if you had the other person's name, there's no guarantee you'd be able to contact them (and, even then, there's no guarantee you two can read and write the same language). Hope it works out for the both of you though.

My best advice is to just let crap offers rot in the future. That way you don't have to worry about accidently hitting the wrong button. :(

Its your own fault for accepting the offer be it by accident or not, just leave junk rot next time I most certainly do.

When handling expensive trades, my advice is to go real slow if you want to reject them.

I agree that it's not reportable... I get junk trades like that all the time, and like other people have said, it's not a scam.

I also let junk offers rot most of the time - because of that reason. Also, it seems like whenever I reject a junk offer, the person comes back with another 'better' junk offer.

I think the pop up button would help, because who makes the same mistake twice that quickly? If you didn't mean to click accept, you'll probably think "oh wait nononono, I didn't want that!" *clicks reject on the popup carefully*

A trade history would be handy. I know I've gotten stuff from people before, and wondered later if they had another of the item I could buy, or something like that, but I never neomailed them so I couldn't ask.

It's a bit unfair to think that the person maliciously made that offer. When I first started buying Paintbrushes, I wasn't always aware of the price so i would make low offers at the Trading Post. I wasn't trying to 'scam' anyone, I simply didn't know any better. And even if thsi person did know how much the Paintbrush is worth, it doesn't mean they were doing anything underhand. They could've simply been starting with lower bids to test the water, and happened to get lucky. I don't see why they should be expected to give the Paintbrush back, they paid for it, even if it wasn't what it was worth, it was your mistake not their's, and they should be made to seem the guilty party; they did nothing wrong.

Except for the part of my wishlist that said "550K PURE." I can understand when that happens, all the more reason to have a trade history so that I could politely ask them to give the item back, because it's the honest thing to do. I know I certainly would. If they did, I would probably give them a couple hundred thousand for their trouble. It's better than nothing.
