But I think that, primarily, this site is there to have fun, and if you need to spend time asking your parents about trigonometry, then it turns more into a maths lesson than anything else. I doubt that Neopets would want people to have to rely on outside sources, such as Wikipedia (magnificent and useful though it is) and parents to provide plot solutions.
Hey! Who says learning math isn't fun?
I think that TNT expects us to rely on others for problem-solving. It is a social site, and the ultimate goal is to bring people together to work together. They have some MENSA-type plots, really, and without things like PPT and friends, many of us "older players" would not be able to figure out many of these puzzles either.
However (and here I am, arguing again), there is also the fact that this plot is meant to be a mini-plot. Whether this still constitutes 'mini' is debatable, but, generally, I think that using advanced maths would be expanding the plot too much.
Yes, I admit it, I've run out of arguments!
I just feel that it would not be right - no better reason than that.
And I enjoy maths. It's one of my favourite subjects, because I find it so easy!
